The frustrating thing is hourglass could knock it out of the park with some deep peaches and oranges, reds, deeper bronze and golden highlighters...the possibilities!!!
I finally got the 6 pan pallet from hourglass, I thought the colors were so beautiful and could finally work for my skin tone, and I LOVE IT, the powders are so smooth and blend out amazing,
RIP Sweetie, I miss seeing you, had to come watch again to see if I need the bigger Sonia G buffer brush since it’s being released again tomorrow.🙏🏻❤️
I think I might get the mini palette because I missed out on last year’s ghost unlocked palette. Thanks for sharing how to buff under the eye...I’ve been using the same powder but never got the same brightening effect.
Always love your videos! I love that you put a picture of the brush you were using next to the color. That was awesome. Hope you were getting the rest and the help that you need.
Just got my new Sonia G brush and I love it
Hourglass are fully aware that these powders do not cater to deeper skin tones which is the main reason I don’t buy their powders anymore. I’m not saying that they don’t have anything for my skin tone at all but the fact that not all their base products are inclusive is definitely a let down for me, making me less exicited their limited edition releases because it’s always the same thing in different stylish packaging.
I totally agree. I'm medium tan even and the bronzer doesn't show up. 🧐🙄 all of it... disappointing.
They keep re-releasing the same stuff. Over it!
I am fair skinned and I love the quality of Hourglass products, however, I expect at this price point for a company to cater to ALL women! It is not acceptable to me that I can’t purchase their products for my friends (which I totally would if they had colors they could wear). We enjoy makeup so much and when I decided to get everyone makeup for Christmas a few years ago, I realized just how many companies excluded deeper skin tones. It was eye opening for sure! They can and should do better!
100%. As far as they're concerned as long as they have consumers still shelling out the big bucks and they aren't losing any money they have no reason to change the way they do things.

Mel - I purchased the Sonia G brush when it came out and I received it yesterday. Thank you so much for the buffing tutorial. As for the HG palettes, I love the quad but I have those shades! I am also disappointed that they aren’t making shades for darker skin tones. I have several girlfriends with darker skin that would love to use HG but can’t. It’s almost 2021 and I am going to have to start dropping brands that all skin tones can’t use. I feel like things won’t change unless consumers start voting with their dollars.
I was just coming in here to tell you that I admire you and watch nearly all of your videos, but seeing all of the glowing HG reviews from gurus I respect and admire just ignore the fact that a very large part of their viewers are people of color who are being ignored, it really does hurt our feelings. It shouldn't, because it's just makeup, but we love makeup just as much as anyone else and we don't want to be left behind. Thank you for speaking up for our, hopefully, other influencers and customers will continue to do the same.

I was obsessed with Hourglass for years, I have tons of their products. This brand still has my heart ❤ BUT. I'm tired of disrespect towards ppl with deeper skin tones, I'm tired of hoping too see my friends playing and enjoying makeup all together. Honestly I would be more excited to see this collection fully made for poc only, because let's be real- how many blushes, bronzers and powders did this brand make with all the possible undertones for us fair-light people?!? They will not get my money until they release shades that we have been asking for years. 😤 I stopped recommending them as well, also buying as presents.

Hourglass’ representation is lacking. For darker tones especially. I can barely use their holiday palettes because it’s always too dark for my fair skin. A company this bougee should have an option for everyone. But the lean towards whiteness is a major issue.
I still haven’t ordered an Hourglass palette, just haven’t pulled the trigger.

I purchased the small unlocked quad and I really like it. I may purchase the larger one at some point later in the year. They just need a second palette in darker tones and see if it sells.
I bought the unlocked palette when they re-released it in 2019 and I love it. There is a nude/peach blush in that palette that I can’t find anywhere else and I use it everyday bc I prefer a peachy/glowy -- sort of understated blush. I love Hourglass powders but agree about the shade range. I’ve been wanting to try Sonia G’s brushes forever!
As for Hourglass, I don’t know if they will ever change because this has been going on for a long long LONG while now, and at this point, after everything we’ve been through and learned this year, there’s just no excuse. So I will not be purchasing any more products from them until they make a BIG change. Customer service should always come first which means, listening to your customers.

I agree with you (i said the same thing) the unlocked is super stunning, that is why I recommended getting the mini sculpture unlocked.

I don’t know where I read it or who said it, but quoting them “you can’t boycott somebody, who doesn’t care about you” . Hourglass doesn’t care about anyone above medium deep and I say this as a tan individual, and none of the powders have worked for me. I thought this year was going to be different, but it wasn’t so. So if somebody shows them who they are, believe them, and I believe they are a subtly racist company and I don’t want any part of them anymore. I am done !!

I bought the quad, I absolutely LOVE IT! They really do need to expand their face powder range, there’s barely anything for someone darker than medium tone.

Hey Mel, I was wondering what palette would be better for a Fair/Light skin tone? I feel like the bronzer is what I'm really worried about. I thought the quad bronzer looked darker but I feel like on your skin it kind of looks lighter? Idk, it's kind of hard to tell on camera. I also heard the 6 pan bronzer is more red toned but it doesn't look like it is on you. I saw someone say the 6 pan palette bronzer doesn't have the micro-glitter in it too which I think I'd prefer unless you can't really see it on the skin. I don't own any hourglass powders as of yet so I'd really appreciate some help/ideas on it! Thank you!

I’m pale; hourglass works for me. But come on - is it that hard to do a light and deep version of the pallet? That being said, mood exposure is my least favorite shade and I’m pretty much just wearing eye stuff with my mask these days. Maybe next year. 🤷♀️ That brush looks yummy!

It seems like last year's ghost palette is the most distinguishable palette from their holiday collection. I kinda regret that I didn't pick up the whole ghost collection last year, the four-pan blush palette looks amazing after seeing this year's collection. But I will still pick up the four-pan sculpture cause they have lighter powders to my liking, I will use every shade. The unlocked palette has several deeper shades I won't use so I didn't get it.
That blush in the trio is my fave :)

I didn't get the Ghost collection and am lusting over the Sculpture.
I haven't purchased any of the Hourglass powders yet, I'm grabbing the Mini because that's the first palette that's called to me.
Theory for the lack of shades for deeper skin tones: Maybe the formula of the powders create a cast/ ashy look? I really hope they're working on it. Seems like something so silly to lose business over, considering that their foundation range has shades for deeper skin tones.
Of the three new palettes, which order do you recommend them in?
Are the four shades in the mini palette really out of the ghost edit palette? In mine there is not one of the four shades 😅

🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 I love that you are outspoken and speak up for equality. It's sad to me that a big company such as hourglass won't extend their shade range. I for one will not spend that amount of money on a company that leaves people with darker skin tones out and I know many people who feel the same. I wish I had money and could make a cosmetics line because I am sick of the lack of inclusiveness in the beauty industry with brands like hourglass.
