RTHK香港故事（第18輯） 第三集﹕由春秧街說起 2011-12-26
早於國共內戰時期，不少上海人走避到香港，並居於北角一帶，因此於50年代北角有小上海之稱，上海人於北角開設上海餐館及理髮店。到了60年代，上海人搬離北角，與此同時­陸續有福建人聚居，尤以春秧街一帶最為明顯，北角亦由小上海變成小福建。
1957年北角邨落成，屋邨以低密度設計，且位於海旁，環境優美，有人認為獲抽中入住北角邨好比中馬票。2002年北角邨被拆卸，至今該地皮仍然丟空，但居民鄰里之情卻保­留在老街坊記憶中。
華豐國貨是香港現時少數的國貨公司之一，四十多年來屹立不倒。一直以來，不少愛國團體、左派機均集中於北角。1967香港發生暴動，8月4日，港英政府派出直升機，降落在­北角僑冠大廈天台，突襲及圍剿大廈內的左派大本營。今天走進北角，會否仍然感受到強烈的愛國色彩？

I like this street. I go there every time I visit Hong Kong. Last time I went to visit my mom in Hong Kong, we bought lots of Wongton wraps and noodles.

I am glad that the traditional North Point from the Chun Yeung Street, Metropole Store, and the Wah Hing Department store is still around. But I truly missed the Rainbow Theatre and the nearby unique North Point Estate right by the Pier and the Bus Terminal. Still, I am encouraged that the Shanghai and the Fukien influence is still largely untouched, along with most of the traditional food and sundries stores.
