Stephanie Mills as Aunt Em was a brilliant choice. Not only did she nail the song beautifully (as expected) but it honors her ubiquitous connection to the original Broadway production.

This version is good in its own but the original with Theresa Merritt is organic and pure I like more
That wasn't the original, the lady who played Aunt Em in Stephanie Mills' The Wiz in the 1970s is the original, the movie version was an adaption, I liked Merritt's version too though.
