Incredible views from this railway, interesting that they chose this route to Graz instead of a easier one on the route of the A2 motorway, east of the mountains. An engineering marvel, drove a few times over Semmering Pass and saw some sections of the railway, was amazed how capable the engineers were mid 19th century. For a railway the route through the hilly terrain in eastern Styria isn't easier at all. But the main reason was that there is nothing there that would have required a mainline rail connection.
@@Ztbmrc1 - The double track route between Vienna and Bruck an der Mur has been successfully converted to right-hand running. The left-hand running remains on the stretch south of Bruck/Mur only. ÖBB intends to convert the line between Bruck an der Mur 1:58:56 and Graz 2:35:21 by the time the Koralm Railway opens in full (by the end of 2025).
It is the air compressor, that provides the air for the brake system of a train ...
The "hair dryer" noise is exactly what it sounds like: it's the cooling fans for the motors and power electronics (mainly the traction inverters, which have their own cooling fans).
Well done, thanks for the vid!. What about a cab ride from Vienna to Ceske Velenice? Because on UA-cam there isn't a cab ride to Ceske Velenice, I would be really happy about it, if you can make this. Greetings from Austria

Thank you fornthis video. Nice and interesting cab ride with a very variable weather on 3/4 of this ride. Some beautiful landscapes and also some beautiful building seen or observed. Seen after the station of Payerbach a possible begining of a narrow gauge line, with interesting coaches. Until shortly before Bruck an der Mur the train travel on the right track, after on the left, why ? Have you had some problems with the recording, ?
@Javier Guidou Nicaud Glad you enjoyed it. Yes I had some problems with recordings. I tested a new GoPro 11 camera and had some difficulties with settings. Hopefully I will resolve it soon.
Not so long ago, trains leaving Vienna ran on the left-hand side. This has only changed in recent years. In some parts of Europe it's still the case, in Switzerland I think in general that trains run on the left-hand side.
@Javier Guidou Nicaud - The double track route is equipped for bi-directional line operation. In August 2012, the route between Vienna and Payerbach-Reichenau 57:13 was converted to right-hand-traffic operation. In December 2019, the line between Payerbach-Reichenau 57:13 and Bruck an der Mur 1:58:56 has been successfully converted to right-hand running. Since then the left-hand running is operated south of Bruck an der Mur only. ÖBB intends to convert the line between Bruck an der Mur 1:58:56 and Graz 2:35:21 by the time the Koralm Railway opens in full. BTW, the Koralm Railway (Koralmbahn) is an Austrian 127 km-long double-track, electrified, high-speed railway currently under construction. As part of the Trans-European Transport Network it will connect the cities of Graz and Klagenfurt. The entire railway line is expected to be operational by the end of 2025.
It is odd to see this on the Semmeringbahn section. I'm not 100% sure but an Austrian Lokfuhrer (train driver) did tell me to think of it that the left side in the main, single track, and the right side is a collection of (almost continuous, but with some junctions) passing loops. So, if you drive in the opposite direction over the Semmering section, you drive on the same track, but are then on the right hand side.
Historically Austria used to have a mix of left-hand and right-hand driving (not only on railways but also on roads). The first lines in eastern and southern Austria were built for left-hand driving (like in Britain). The railway lines (and roads) in the western part of the country were more influenced by German standards (i.e. right-hand). After the annexation Germany wanted to change all lines in former Austria to right-hand driving; the plan was started beginning from the west, but wasn't finished due to a well-known armed conflict breaking out. After the war the situation stayed basically unchanged, with about half of the country still driving on the left. Today it basically makes no difference, as all multi-track lines are equipped with signals in both directions - i.e. functionally all rail lines in Austria are single-track lines, some of which just happen to run in parallel. And dispatchers also make heavy/creative use of this fact to increase capacity (e.g. you often see fast trains overtaking slower ones "on the fly", using both tracks in the same direction). The main direction of driving is merely a convention nowadays, and it's slowly changed to prefer right-hand operation. In fact the line south of Bruck/Mur is the last remainder of left-hand operation (and this will also be changed to right-hand once the new Koralmbahn line opens in December 2025).
@David Kaffka - 160 km/h but across the Semmering pass, the speed slows down to 70 km/h and below. BTW by signs alongside the track, the highest speed permitted is displayed too 13:10 (red numbers).
@DRAGICEVIC Georges-Dorde this was the first video that I made with the new GoPro 11 camera and some of the settings were not the best. In the next video the image quality is better. Sometimes the results of trying new things to improve the quality are not as expected to be.
one big blemish on the right side of the screen. after 1.3 hours the image is not the best focused) one gets the impression that the recording speed has been increased...

On various computers the video seems to have "crushed blacks" as the television term goes . In other words the blacks in the video are very black and the side views of the rail travel are missing detail that a lesser darkening would provide. Maybe a "white balance" before videoing would help. However these videos are a great watch, thank you for your efforts.

Trains travel across entire Continents for thousands of miles in all directions and never go uphill or down more than a few inches at most; Maybe because the Earth really is Flat. Think about it... 🤔
where can I get the weed you're smoking? You are aware that a) in this video the train is going uphill and downhill by 690m and 545m respectively, and b) elevation is measured in relation to Earth's center, and c) "level" (as in 'constant elevation') does not mean the same as "flat", are you?

The Semmering Railway - always the right solution!
@Földi Tullner thank you!
@Bernhard Skedel danke. Thank you for this corrections. I changed it in the timestamps in the description of the video.
Magnifico video nei magici colori dfell'Autunno ! Complimenti ! A Peggau Deutschfeistriz manca "to Ubelbach".
@paolopetronio8260 This video is from last year, at that time I did not find the tunnels names and other information. Sorry for the mistakes maked. There will be a newer video on that route available soon.
@Marc van der Linden Thank you for your comment. I am not a train driver. I am sorry but I not respond your questions.
@@RailRelaxation Ok no problem. But maybe someone else here in the community knows why they changed to the left as from Bruck a/d Mur.
@@heinerle456 Thank you for this information!
@Jakob Schober I am sorry but I can answer your question I dont have that knowledge. sorry.
Great suggestion! I will put it on my list.
@@RailRelaxation Great! Thanks.
By the way, if you are planning this in the next weeks, you might use the REX trains that are going from Wien Franz Josefs Bahnhof to Krems/Donau or to Ceske Velenice.
A cab ride from Vienna to Krems is already on UA-cam, but a bit old already. A cab ride from Vienna to Ceske Velenice isn't still on UA-cam, thats why I requested it. Thanks.
But, if you are planning this in the middle of December or January, there are possibly Railjets driving in this direction. There where rumours, that the Vindabona train is coming back on this route on timetable change in middle December.
Greetings, Mario from Lower Austria

Please, what is the maximum speed archieved by this train ?
@andrea giordani I found the information that this trains max speed is 230 km/h, but on this line the max operating speed is 160 km/h.
@Atellarion Sorry for the mistakes. There will be a newer video on the same route available soon.
@GTOTravelConsulting Sorry, I do not know that. Maybe someone else will be able to answer.
Yes, there's a narrow gauge line which starts at Payerbach!
@@heinerle456 thank you for your explanation very technical.
Any reason for the switch from right hand to left hand running midway in the journey?
What happened at 2:29:00?
@Evgenij Bazarov sorry, but I was not driving the train so I don't know what has happened.
Looks like a forced stop by the Train Control. Engineer too long off the pedal or failed to confirm a signal.

@David Kaffka the top speed is a 100 km per hour.
@David Kaffka - 160 km/h but across the Semmering pass, the speed slows down to 70 km/h and below. BTW by signs alongside the track, the highest speed permitted is displayed too 13:10 (red numbers).
...an interesting journey with wonderful landscapes. Technically, the image quality deserves to be better...
@DRAGICEVIC Georges-Dorde this was the first video that I made with the new GoPro 11 camera and some of the settings were not the best. In the next video the image quality is better. Sometimes the results of trying new things to improve the quality are not as expected to be.
What's wrong with the image quality?
one big blemish on the right side of the screen. after 1.3 hours the image is not the best focused) one gets the impression that the recording speed has been increased...
