  • This dancing grapes experiment is a super fun and easy way to discover the classic and amazing reaction of baking soda and vinegar!
Your kids will love watching the grapes dance around and move up and down in a glass full of water, baking soda, and vinegar.
    Supplies Needed:
    Cup or Glass
    Water
    Baking Soda
    Vinegar
    Spoon
    Grapes
The science behind this super fun dancing grapes experiment:
The secret to why the grapes dance around inside the glass is thanks to the air bubbles that are created from the baking soda and vinegar in the water.
The carbon dioxide in the baking soda is released in the classic baking soda and vinegar reaction. These carbon dioxide (CO2) bubbles collect on the surface of the grapes and eventually gather enough force to pull the grapes to the top of the water.
When the grapes reach the top of the water, the air bubbles pop and the weight of the grape makes it sink back to the bottom to repeat the process again.
You can also do this experiment with carbonated water, mineral water, or soda pop instead of mixing the baking soda with vinegar.
