Hi guys good to see you heading towards the Llangollen. I know where your coming from with the weather. I successfully moved the Swamp Duck from Shardlow to its new home mooring on the Ashby but it was a very windy and wet journey, one advantage of my yogurt pot is that I can operate it under cover. I was made up to meet a viewer for the first time, he shouted out Hi Alan, and then we met for a good old chat, makes it all worthwhile. Thanks for that take care. Alan xxx
Thanks for showing your mistake in the lock with the side flow. It gives the rest of us hope. Our first day was climbing the Audlem flight and I hit many a lock side! Can't wait to be on the Llangollen next May.
Hi Fran and Rich...you both are still clearly having a total blast, pootling around...and now you’ve been brave enough to cross in to Stalag Wales...! Welcome to the land of the Welsh Government...beware those who cross the border, you may never be allowed out again. Enjoy your cruising and keep up the great work..Steve and Sue..🍷🍷
Hi from grey old London. Even though the weather looks the same where you are I know where I'd rather be. Oh, Fran afraid of the lovely moo-cow 🐄 good Vlog as usual. Thanks, guys.
Loved the vlog and going into Wales. Look forward to you vlogs, it’s been a long 6 days. You and a few others I follow are all doing what I’ll never be able to do anymore. So appreciate all the work you all put in. 💗💗
So Rich, today, you get the gold star. You are so far the only person out of all you lovely boaters who manages to pronounce Llangollen correctly...well very close. Now I am not Welsh but I know you are supposed to "spit through your teeth" with that double ll. And more pies!! Does that cheese and onion pie have mashed spuds in it? Hugs guys.
Richard, for a brummie you are well up on the Cockney rhyming slang, all this talk of jodrell banks and asking Fran if she wants to come on your boat a few weeks ago.
Lovely area, cows eyesight is magnified and you are much bigger to them than they are to you, I grew up with cows as my late Dad was a herdsman, enjoy Wales and don't forget a waterproof jacket, rains a lot there but a beautiful country
Ref cows, if you have a dog or dogs, it is better not to have them on a lead when going through a field of cows. Cows are curious and will always come up to see what is going on. If the dogs run off the cows will follow leaving you free to exit the field. 'Course in my case, my dog is afraid of cows and runs to me and sits between my legs. Many a happy conversation with a herd of cows! Good vlog by the way. Bob & Jan on NB No Frontiers
The rules are to have dogs on a lead, but if the cows came too close I would certainly let the dogs go. We have been seriously chased once before and had to dive through a barbed wire fence!
We were walking through a field of Shire horses recently and they came to say hello and to see if we had food. We were petrified and had to be helped by someone who had confidence with them. They looked a lot more beautiful when we were the other side of the gate!! So fully understand the cow situation. Great vlog as always . In the words of E ' I need some sleep"
Harold & Kathy Schwendeman I'm an "old guy" nearly 80, just barely computer literate, but stumbled upon one of your blogs a while back while laying around, recovering from open heart surgery (a huge success) and then more laying around due to COVID-19. We live in a little town of Sumner, WA, sort of between Seattle and Tacoma, WA. Have watched lots of other English narrowboat blogs since I stumbled upon yours, but you guys are still my favorites. Love your sense of humor (especially Frans giggle) and somehow, your blogs are such a nice mix of narrowboat life & travel, beautiful scenery, love the music choice, and I love how you mix in some England history! I guess that especially interests me, as my maternal grandparents were from England (g'ma from Salford, Lancashire and g'pa from Bradford, Yorkshire.) Still have relatives in England (Yorkshire) and my Son Craig and I took a trip to visit them (and tour Yorkshire) several years ago, and we both agree that is was the best trip ever! We're talking about maybe some day doing it again, and, thanks in part to you guys😋 I'd like to rent (....oops,....hire) a narrowboat for at least a few days. Trouble is, not than many canals in Yorkshire, right. Leeds maybe, and I think maybe one in the area of York, right? Ok,...enough,.....but I have to say, I watch daily for your latest blog and you seem to do one sort of "weekly", right? I know, I know,....the bell, right? Haven't quite figured that out yet. Oh, one more thing I meant to say,....I'm not much of a dog guy I guess, but I really get a kick out of Archie & Jess! They are so smart, and I'll swear they understand every word you say! Hope you never go back to a house (did you finally sell the cottage?) and keep making canal blogs forever!
Hello Kathy and Harold. Thank you so much for your lovely message. We're pleased you are enjoying our videos. If you do decide to come over and hire a narrowboat, there are actually plenty of canals around Yorkshire and it is so beautiful. We haven't travelled to York yet, so if you keep watching we may be able to take you there. Hope you make a quick recovery from your surgery Harold. Fran x
@@FloatingOurBoat Hi Again Fran & Rich: Oh WOW! I'll sure be watching and looking forward to your future video from the area around York! When my Son Craig and I were there, we were amazed at how much ancient Roman history remains in York! We thought that Hadrians Wall was about the extent of Roman history in Yorkshire, but lots more in York for sure! You really "made my day" Fran in that I now know that Rich really meant what he said when he said,..."we try to answer all our comments"'. Feel like I made two more friends in England! By the way, Kathy and I are pretty "concerned" to say the least about this COVID-19 thing, but you guys are sure an "inspiration" to us,....as Rich fully recovered, and you didn't get it! Maybe there's "hope" for the two of us "oldsters", huh? Stay safe now,......harold (....sorry to be so "gabby"!) 😄
That light blue narrow boat (at position 7:33 approx) is just over two and a half lengths of the dark blue one, you would need either a bicycle or a pair of roller skates to get from one end to the other end.😹
By the time l get up in the morning here in Canada, you come and visit and keep me company for breakfast. I am from England and find it comforting hearing you and travelling through “home”. Thank you for keeping me in touch with my roots.
Enjoyed your vlog, rain/clouds/wind and all. The countryside is such a pleasure to look at....as were the pies. Looking forward to the next vlog. Take care.
You have to remember the cows are more scared of you than you are of them. We felt so jealous of you two as we have our "Lazy Bee" on hard standing at Swanley Bridge Marina and of course we can't get over there because of covid. The farm shop at Wrenbury has been closed for a couple of years but there is one at Burland, we unfortunately have not been to. Love your vlogs, you two are so positive.
Ah, it's a shame you weren't on the boat as we went past! There is a farm shop at Wrenbury so maybe they have reopened. We will look out for the one at Burland though. Thank you
Hi Fran & Rich, another lovely vlog. Jess & Archie are certainly enjoying themselves, despite the weather 😊 please give them hugs for me 💖 Hope the weather warms up a bit for you guys. I really appreciate all the hard work you put into your vlogs. Thank you for sharing...take really good care, stay safe! xo
Aww! lovely V-log guys thank you. Don't be afraid of the cows, they think you have food. You can be really rough with them when you scratch behind their ears, they love it. They usually try to lick you too.
Another great vlog. I have come to the conclusion in my boat if I clatter the odd lock wall due to strong by washes it will probably be gentler than it has had in its previous life as a hire boat, so it will be what it is, not always easy single-handed.
You guys are awesome as always! So funny about the cows! I think they’re pretty gentle as long as you don’t bother them! Can’t say the same for bulls. The church was lovely! Thanks again, happy and safe travels!
Rich. Do you seriously think the cows are coming for you when you have Fran to protect. Amazing church in such a small place. Great blog. We loved Wales even by car!
Great vid. Hopefully we will have better weather when we reach the Llangollen 🤣😂. Nice to know it's not only Debbie who has a cow thing going on. Those dam lock by-washes, I seem to nail one, then think I've mastered it then totally fluff the next 🤔. I know someone who today is moored in the Llangollen basin and says its lovely😜😜❤️ and only 8 of the 28 moorings are taken 👍 Oh look a hire boat now coming into the basin🤫

Watched 24 hours in emergency recently.A lady was air lifted to Saint Georges after being trod on by a cow. Her and friend were walking across a field with the dogs and spooked the herd😏
Lovely vlog,Llangollen canal is nice but will be busy enjoy it’s good too see the canals again so missing then at the moment have till sept too wait to get on my boat thanks
I'm with Fran on the cows - big and scary 😂 Thanks for a lovely vlog. You'll enjoy the Llangollen. It was our first ever canal holiday on 1981 and did it 4 years ago on our share boat. Fabulous!
I share the same fear of cows. I do try to avoid them in my walks. Well done you two. Great watch, as ever, and looking forward to meeting up towards the end of the month. :)
They look so peaceful and friendly until there are about 20 moving steadfastly in my direction. Much prettier from the other side of the fence. Let's have a cow free walk please!
Goodness, a late posted vlog for you folks. But worth it! Beautiful scenery and lots of laughs ... "boy stuff" ... LOL! Stay safe and healthy. We're staying very close to home here in South Carolina as our positive cases are skyrocketing ... opened too quickly and people aren't wearing masks, social distancing, etc. Have lots of projects to keep us busy at home.
Jodrell Bank was the world's first radio telescope, built just after WW2, initially out of army surplus kit. It was/is an amazing achievement. And good effort in pronouncing Llangollen. The aspirated L is one of the features of Welsh.
Oh Fran, the cows won't hurt YOU, just give them a good knuckle rub right down the underside of their heads from the jaw to the chin. But you're right, best to keep cows away from Jess and Archie. Happy to see you on a new canal, safe travels!
Fran you made me laugh out loud twice this round!! "cos that's boy's stuff" "cows are better off when they're small and in a distance" So funny!! Love this week's vlog :)
@@FloatingOurBoat Why do you think I have a 60 footer, it's not room for me. If I had thought the comment would have upset you, I would not have made it, but I was pretty sure you would take it in the humour it was meant to be.
I so enjoy your village walks. Sorry you couldn’t get into the church. I know you must have disappointed. The exterior was lovely though. Those pies looked really good!
It was wet and windy, same here in Dublin but it’s a glorious video, gorgeous camera work and those doggies are fantastic, love them. Thank you both so much.
cows are curious. you have a black dog, to them its a tiny cow so they want to check it out. I used to have a black and white Saluki, It got to the stage where the cows would follow him, came in handy for the local farmers who thought it was a hoot. when they wanted to move their cows they'd occasionally ask me to walk him
Love your vlogs always so interesting seeing all the different places you visit. Your doggos have a wonderful time exploring all those new places. I always steer clear of lots of cows in a field too! Love your lifestyle. Enjoy the Llangollen canal.
So jealous right now! The Llangollen is my absolute favourite canal, several visits over the years and we are always looking forward to our next. Mooring at ellesmere in total darkness under the trees with the mere a few feet away illuminated by moonlight is magical- or creepy, depending on your constitution- but has to be done.
Cows are very curious, and they love music. Once the head of the herd starts moving to see something or someone the rest just follow along. It looks like a cold, dreary few days for your trip, hopefully the sun will come out soon and you can get dry.👍🏻 The water in the reservoir looked really green....yuck. Some of the lakes around here have an algae green bloom and we aren’t allowed to even wade in it right now, not a great start to swimming season😢. There are a lot of canoe/kayak clubs on the lakes so this will put them way behind for racing the rest of the summer. I can’t remember this ever happening in those lakes before, they were shut a few times from bacteria in them from too much duck 💩 crap and higher temperatures, hopefully this won’t keep happening. Hope you have lovely weather to do the canal, it looks like such a pretty one. 🙋🏼
Love your vlogs and always look forward to seeing them. I'm seeing parts of our beautiful country I'll prob never get to see otherwise so thankyou for sharing your journey 😍 I'm with you Fran! Love seeing cows and watching them but as long as there is a fence and gate between us 😂 Take care all 4 of you 😘 love Sharon xxxx
Great video guys and a nice walk into the village there, the weather brings back memories of some summer’s in Cornwall, watch out for the cow’s and take care
My grandmother's abiding bad dream was to be trapped in one of the high-sided Devon lanes with a herd of cows coming towards her and nowhere to escape them so she would have total sympathy for you Fran.
So happy you're able to be out and about...loved the church...I'm not sure I'd be happy with cows coming toward me if I had a dog with me and I do love cows...but maybe not in large numbers :) :) :) excellent that 'sweeties' were available :)
Yay! Fame at last 😀. That was us on nb Heron going down Hurleston Locks. Very glad you didn't film me making a complete mess of picking Heather up after the last lock! Enjoy the Llangollen.

Stay safe and healthy. We're staying very close to home here in South Carolina as our positive cases are skyrocketing ... opened too quickly and people aren't wearing masks, social distancing, etc. Have lots of projects to keep us busy at home.
It took about 6 hours to upload it as the internet is so slow here. We just went to bed and left it running!!
Thanks for sharing. The church was lovely! Stay safe.
You're welcome
Jodrell Bank was the world's first radio telescope, built just after WW2, initially out of army surplus kit. It was/is an amazing achievement. And good effort in pronouncing Llangollen. The aspirated L is one of the features of Welsh.
Thank you, that's really interesting
Really loved the walk through the village. It's a whole new world for an Aussie and a lovely change from just canal scenes. Keep up the good work!
Thank you viv, glad you enjoyed it
Thank you, have a beaut day.
Lovely walks guys great vlog. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome walk, great video, lovely people, and I'm happy. Great to see you again. Merry Ann from Minnesota
Thank you Merry Ann
Those are two very happy and lucky dogs. They seem to totally enjoy the tow path walks. Or in their case runs. Pure a good mom and dad.
You are so right, but Archie can look sooomiserable when he is on the boat and thinks he should be out.
Oh Fran, the cows won't hurt YOU, just give them a good knuckle rub right down the underside of their heads from the jaw to the chin. But you're right, best to keep cows away from Jess and Archie.
Happy to see you on a new canal, safe travels!
Yes,bi will do that but from the other side of a fence
I didn’t know sweets are a cure for hay fever?!! Lovely video, as always. Keep pootlin’ xx
As far as Rich is concerned, they are the cure for nearly everything!
wonderful
I’m liking the use of Google maps to show where you are 👍
Thank you Colin
Fran you made me laugh out loud twice this round!! "cos that's boy's stuff" "cows are better off when they're small and in a distance" So funny!! Love this week's vlog :)
Rich and Fran will not agree, but cows are better off on a plate, with chips and peas lol.
@@TrevsTravelsByNarrowboat LOL!! Nope I don't think they will agree :p
Ah, glad to make you smile. Wanted to let you know we have started a small collection of succulents thanks to you. Now we may need a bigger boat 😀
@@FloatingOurBoat Why do you think I have a 60 footer, it's not room for me. If I had thought the comment would have upset you, I would not have made it, but I was pretty sure you would take it in the humour it was meant to be.
@@FloatingOurBoat Ooo Nice!! you must show us your succulents in one of your episodes!!
Hoot! lovely vlog, you both look good Fran 's eye are a lot clearer. Fran hope to see some home made, next week cheers.
I'll see what I can do
I so enjoy your village walks. Sorry you couldn’t get into the church. I know you must have disappointed. The exterior was lovely though. Those pies looked really good!
The pies were good and don't worry, there are plenty more churches ahead.
Nice one looks peaceful there ✌️
It was wet and windy, same here in Dublin but it’s a glorious video, gorgeous camera work and those doggies are fantastic, love them.
Thank you both so much.
Many thanks!
Great seeing you again, enjoy the Llangollen!
Thanks for your help but can't believe you refused to take me shopping!!
@@FloatingOurBoat I remember last time though...🤣🤣🤣
cows are curious. you have a black dog, to them its a tiny cow so they want to check it out. I used to have a black and white Saluki, It got to the stage where the cows would follow him, came in handy for the local farmers who thought it was a hoot. when they wanted to move their cows they'd occasionally ask me to walk him
great and fun video to watch. glad to see both of you again.. shame about the weather though.
Those pies look goooood!
Yes, they were
Love your vlogs always so interesting seeing all the different places you visit. Your doggos have a wonderful time exploring all those new places. I always steer clear of lots of cows in a field too! Love your lifestyle. Enjoy the Llangollen canal.
Thank you, we will. X
That sounds lovely, we can't wait
..you've won life's lottery! ...I am sure it took a lot of hard work on both your parts to live your dream! bravo!
We have worked for nearly 60yesrs between us and had to give up lots to do this but it was absolutely worth it.
We spent the summer last year on the Llangollen it was beautiful 😍
We do keep looking out for blue-green algae as it can be deadly for dogs.!
Lovely and Peaceful..
i do enjoy watching your vlogs for a really old couple there very good
😮
Hello there brilliant viewing nice to see you boating looking good
Thank you for sharing your video cheers take care see you soon
Thank you,glad you enjoyed it
Love your vlogs and always look forward to seeing them.
Thank you Sharon glad you enjoyed it
nice guitar blues there Rich.
Thank you
Thank you for a wonderful trip. The church was quite lovely.
Yes,it's a shame we couldn't go in
Great video guys and a nice walk into the village there, the weather brings back memories of some summer’s in Cornwall, watch out for the cow’s and take care
We will, thank you
On the move at last. I can’t wait to follow your adventure on this canal. Thanks as always for sharing.
You are very welcome. It is a lovely canal so far with much more beauty promised.
My grandmother's abiding bad dream was to be trapped in one of the high-sided Devon lanes with a herd of cows coming towards her and nowhere to escape them so she would have total sympathy for you Fran.
Oh that's tonight's nightmare sorted 😨
So happy you're able to be out and about...loved the church...I'm not sure I'd be happy with cows coming toward me if I had a dog with me and I do love cows...but maybe not in large numbers :) :) :) excellent that 'sweeties' were available :)
Yay! Fame at last 😀. That was us on nb Heron going down Hurleston Locks. Very glad you didn't film me making a complete mess of picking Heather up after the last lock! Enjoy the Llangollen.
Hey, glad we got to wave if not to say hello properly. Don't believe you made a mess of anything, your driving looked perfect.
Another enjoyable vlog I love your style of easygoing life. Keep it coming.
Thank you
I may of well passed you, I drive the main road between Chester and Nantwich morning and afternoon most days.
Love the vlogs and please keep them coming.
Loved it guys thanks 😁👍👏👏👏
Great vlog, love the drone shots. Stay well and safe
Thank you
Love watching your videos from our lounge room in Perth in Oz, taking us to places in England we never went to whilst living there...thanks guys.
Thank you for watching all the way from Perth, glad you enjoy the videos
You wouldnt catch me anywhere near cows when I had my dogs! Glad to see you made it to the village safely! Looks more like a winter video, let's hope it brightens up again soon!
Thanks 👍
Cows are so COOL!!!
Yes, on the otherwise of the fence!
