We have just bought two 4 month old female Afghans, they should be arriving in 4 days, looking at this is making me excited yet inwardly thinking "OMG" lol. We intend to show ours as their parents were Champions in Hungary and Crufts. So I have been told it can take 2-3 hours per dog. But still looking forward to all this.
@@laurakusnir9772I'm a groomer too and I own an Afghan in full show coat. Takes me about 3 hours from bath to complete dry and my boy is in full show coat. Now puppies going through coat change, that's a whole different beast that makes you regret your choices in life. Lol
@@XjtBAthey are two years old now, and they are still going through their puppy coat change phase lol.. The knots and matting can be a nightmare. But they are so loving and incredibly sensitive.. Each day I can't stop hugging them and kissing them to death. They don't resemble anything like this one in the video yet 😁 but we are getting there!! ❤

OMG. the breed standards says, "...neither clipped nor trimmed....shown in a natural state." Yes, a neutered dog may look better with the throat & neck clipped, but you'll have to do much bete if you plan on showing the dog, Also, not enough description of line-brushing, from the k skin out, is emphasized, nor is DEVELOPING A SYSTEM & starting at the 1st place on the dog every time, I start at the back hock & work my way up the leg. @@BishoujoMegami Honestly it takes about two to three hours. I own 6 afghans of different coat types from silky coats to cotton coats. It varies in thickness as well from thick mountain coats to the silky sand coats. Mountain coats takes the longest to do.

Depends if the dog has any mats. If you keep it relatively mat-free, it could cost about $70. But it truly depends on the groomer and where you,live.

I can say it takes longer than 2-3hours to groom an afghan hound (i'm a groomer). Last time it took 4h and 4 people 😜

The working times are very varied and change according to the groomer's working method :)
