Pumping relief wells on the Missouri River. You wont believe what comes out of a well on the bottom

So when the water level rises, say during heavy rain and the level in the relief wells rise, would you discharge the relief well water OUTSIDE of the levee catchment area?
In Alaska here.
PS. Will be cutting more firewood this weekend, it'll be the last for this season.

@tundrnomad8113 yes they are all on the outside of the levee. Most of the wells drain into a drainage ditch that gets pumped back into the river.
