VERMILION If Blood and Thunder ain’t on here imma be very sad
Let me guess.. you're not sad :D
@@VERMILIONGOD Man Again Ive never Know about this band but thank you this band is awesome. You could suggest more bands buddy to me
However i noticed Oblivion wasn't in your video
Can you please do a video of Top 10 Mastodon clean riffs/sections?
Came here for that The Last Baron riff, was not disappointed.
Absolutely extraterrestrial riff, not from this planet.
Greatest riff ever
I made the video because of that Last Baron riff :D
For. Reeeeal.
Honestly the whole Crack the Skye album is riff central.
I think I play thru that riff every time I pick up my guitar. That whole song is a riff salad.
No memeing, I literally just closed porn for this.
LOL! That's what I call support! I really appreciate that bro :D
Oh my.. Should I worry bro? :D
@@VERMILIONGOD hahahahahaha
Whynotboth?
Ye coz the police turned up
The last baron riff just convinced me to go listen to more songs of this band
The whole Crack The Skye album is a masterpiece
@@PHLCoffeeSnob I second this
You're in for a treat!
Have fun, they're worth your time
Enjoy!
I think we can all agree that riff from Last Baron is one of the greatest guitar riffs ever, right? It suddenly shows up like 8 mins into the song, while it would have been other bands' greatest hit, and probably it did deserve its own song.
I wish the riff to March of the Fire Ants, especially with the snare pattern, was more than just the intro (and outro) :/
Fr i only listen to the intro of March of The fire ants
Seabeast is the mother of all mastodon riffs. Such a killer song closer.
That was the song that got me into them.
Those rifts are straight fire, I'm impressed your strings didn't just ignite
You have a point there my friend and you know what! I really have to change my strings now :D
I was waiting for blood and thunder. That is one of the meatiest riffs I've heard
Absolutely classic riff, Brann actually wrote that riff, same with iron tusk. Guy is a fuckin genius
The breakdown riff from Megalodon is one of the dirtiest, sickest, heaviest things i've ever heard
Met Mastodon last year, they're definitely some of the most chill guys I've ever met. Definitely in my top 3 favorite bands
What are the other 2
2:21 the one riff we all came for!
That and the The Last Baron riff
I was hoping I Am Ahab would be here
The only thing I would add is that one riff from The Czar. You know which one I mean.
Michael Hyatt hell yeah crack the skye ftw
if it's THAT The Czar riff then yes, that is one of the best moments on that album and seeing live all the way thru last month solidified it as one of my favorite riffs bar none.
By the light of tha MOOOOOONN
@@Mattallica13526 The one i have in mind is after that verse, but that's a close second!
The one before the second part of the song.
I love that every single one of their albums sounds so different from the last! You have Remission which is super sludgey and even thrashy at times followed by Leviathan which takes all the elements of Remission and adds more progressive elements to it. Then Blood Mountain you get a total blend of their sludginess and progginess combined into this almost desert rock type sound. Then Crack The Skye is just a flat out Prog Rock record followed by the much more psychedelic style they've been going with on their recent albums! Can't wait for Hushed and Grim
I've got some unpopular picks for my favorite Mastodon riffs (I love slow, dark, heavy and atmospheric riffs):
- Hearts Alive outro riff
- Hearts Alive pre chorus and chorus riffs
- The Czar heavy and slow riff in the middle
- Aqua Dementia the riffs of the ending part
- Trilobite, the heavy dissonant riff
- Crack the Skye, the heavy riff with Scott Kelly and the riff under the robotic voice
- the outro riffs of Diamond in the Witch House
-Tread Lightly intro
- Intro and outro riff of Where Strides the Behemoth
-All riffs of Ol'e Nessie
These are actually all really good, especially Hearts Alive and Ol’ Nessie have underrated guitar sections.
Crusher Destroyer! My first taste of Mastodon on Tony Hawk's Underground for the good old PlayStation 2
Aww man, that was awesome times :D
Remission is so underrated, every riff on that album is straight fire
Better than any other band on the scene and that's a fact! I have a vastly different top 10 though. I'd have to include sleeping giant, aqua dementia, Quintessence, Trilobite, ol'e Nessie, divinations, Bedazzled Fingernails, probably some other riffs from the hunter and blood mountain as well.
Brann is such a genius that 2 of the riffs in here were written by him and he’s a drummer. Brann wrote the riffs for iron Tusk and blood and thunder. Anyway sad to not hear the last minute of either circle of cysquatch or hunters of the sky, those are unquestionably 2 of mastodon’s best and sickest riffs and they never get mentioned. Anyway still good work man, mastodon is legendary.
word. Both of those songs are full of amazing riffs. but the outros are crazy. wish the outro to hunters of the sky continued longer before fading it out. it's such a tease
@@giorgisanikidze1117 I feel you man, love the hunter of the sky last minute but definitely wish it went on another 30 seconds. Both that and the ending cysquatch riff are some of the most badass riffs they ever done, some heavy fucking shit.
Colony of Birchmen is my alltime favourite song, that or The Sparrow
Colony is mine also
I've never been a massive fan of Mastodon, but I'd always happily jam to whatever song came on. But I'd never heard The Last Baron until today and that riff is absolutely killer.
Update: Now a large Mastodon fan
@@ronk475 Hell yeah, welcome aboard!
@@ronk475 sometimes they just take time to grow on you, they are a band that I’ve seen countless people say they couldnt really get into and then it eventually clicked. Anyway band fuckin rules, one of the best drummers and overall musicians in Brann then one of the best guitar duos and then you got Troy a legit bassist and solid ass singer these days, band is so talented. Glad you are a big fan now, more fans the better because they deserve it.
@@puppetmaster8551 Same story with me. Didn't find them to be anything special the first time, but i swear their songs get better every time i listem to them again.
@@TheCecchino98 I feel you there, they are definitely one of those bands where their music just grows on you more and more the more you listen to them, it’s great. I have yet to get tired of any of their music and I listen to it all the time for many years.
Would love to see a top 10 Baroness riffs with they’re most recent album coming out a couple weeks ago.
they got new album ? didnt know. thank you for info
New album sounded like straight up static, I have no clue what the John and the producer are thinking.
@@jakeybball I still enjoyed it but ya the production was rough, bad decision by John and crew. Those songs all sound way better live.
I’m absolutely in love with Mastodon and this video just... amazing my dude.
Yes!!! The video I've been waiting for. Love these guys so much. Great job on this and keep up the good work
Thanks alot for the support bro! Stay cool!
The best part of Mastodon, besides Troy's gutpunch of a bass tone or Brann's metronomic drumming, is Brent's ability to throw the grooviest riffs you'll ever hear directly between two riffs from Bill that will kick your fucking teeth in.
Yes, yes, yes, YES, YES, A THOUSAND YESSES. This is amazing. Nice work on the programmed drums
Wow! Thanks a lot for that buddy! I am very pleased :D
funny u say that, i couldnt stand the tone of the drums. they sound too... 'bassy'/agressive. its quite a constrast to branns 'warm' drum sound. if u get what i mean, hard to put into words.
How can somebody hear those riffs and not fall in love with Mastodon? Ember City's main riff is another gem from them, in contrast to these very nasty and heavy ones, it has to be one of the most gorgeous riffs of them... Great video!
Been waiting for this, Man! Flawlessly executed!
Thank you! I hope your wait was worth it bro!
It was all worth it. You did not disappoint at all! 🤘
Love it. Gave me a mastodong. Favorite band. May I suggest another video, cuz it would be super easy to get hooked by 10 more sweet, sweet Bill Kelliher riffs
Hell yeah The Last Baron "booty shake" riff is awesome ! And honestly Mother Puncher's last riff could have been there (actually the whole song is just like 4 kickass riffs). Great vid
Great selection of riffs, especially from the older material. 🤘
The Last Baron was the first Mastodon song I heard. I liked from the start but THAT riff made me want to listen their whole discography
much better sound than previously, awesome job sir!
That was epic man. Nice mix of new and old
Amazing! Mastodon has so many amazing riffs that you can start planning pt2 and pt3
Salve o Corinthians
@@femto3052 vai curintia!
Just saw your Gojira riffs and was about to comment on that vid for you to do Mastadon, but here we are!!!!
That Last Baron riff is one of the best riffs ever. You have a new subscriber here.
Thanks for including the last baron, you understand music my man
Awesome, thanks! It's so good!
Still waiting Soilwork!
Great Vid, man. The tone on this one was nice. It actually made think about a band I've not listened to in years; Neurosis. Time to go listen to Through Silver and Blood.
Awesome video
I wasn't expecting to see the last riff of Seabeat. Great choice!
Godlike tone, congrats.
This is great, keep it up
More Trivium Riffs! 🔥🔥
I'd also accept some BLS
Great shirt, great riffs!
You forgot every riff from Capillarian Crest.
That's cuz there's only one good riff in that song
Never really listened to mastodon before other that blood and thunder, but when I heard the last baron riff my brain creamed and now I must hear everything
I need to learn that last baron riff, such an amazing song.
Dude, you are a legend! I was actually listening to Emperor Of Sand, hands down my favorite album of 2017. Keep on making awesome videos man! \m/
Thanks for your awesome support buddy! I am very pleased and really appreciate that. Stay cool!
Too ofter matching the tone is overlooked in these types of videos but in this case you sir nailed it! Great picks! Like a freight train crashing full speed.
Lost society riffs, and Crisix riffs would be cool
Greatings from France
Good choices
Love Mastodon,
I got the chance to meet the boys after they blew the roof off of Cobo Hall when they were on the Unholy Alliance tour with Slayer, CoB and Lamb of God (also 17 y/o edgelord me was all hype because that show happened to be on July 6, 2006 aka 6/6/6).
They were cool dudes and Hinds...
...who was at the very least a 26oz of whiskey deep at this point...
...was nice enough to give me an answer when I fanboyed by asking him how he came up with the slick solo at the end of “Elephant Man” and if he knew how to play/where I could find the sheet music or tabs to learn the solo.
“No idea kid really, pretty sure it was improv’d and recorded first take”
Of course he was flanked by two buddies who were helping him over to the tour bus so grain of salt and all that.
Anyways awesome video, great playing and thanks for spreading the good word about Mastodon; not enough people and players know just how great this band and their catalogue of fuckin atomic, sonic enlightenment.
Your tone is SO CLEAN dude
Rad guitar tone, dude!
Sick 🤘🏾
That's why I love Mastodon! Sounds super cool, plays super fun!!!
Awesome video as always bro! They are kind of a lesser known band, but Top 10 Nothing More riffs?
Very good job guy. I'm waiting for Opeth riffs! Thx...Riff is life!!!
And this is why I love this band!
Incredible as always! \m/
Thanks man!
Love the last minute of Seabeast, its so fun
Awesome video as always man! Idk if you’ve already made it, but Top 10 Meshuggah riffs?
000000000000000000
Awesome list.
A personal favourite of mine is Octopus has no friends.
Please make a part 2 because there are son many good riffs
I've been waiting this for so long...
Thank you for the waiting bro! Really hope it was worth it.
thats one of the greatest Rancid albums, actually one of the best punk albums period ever recorded. ( your shirt) I'm from the Bay Area, have hung with em at the Gilman. good dudes, was a LONG time ago, like 1995. Good vid BTW, Mastodon are riff monsters
Nice rancid shirt my dude. Also I’m really happy to see that the le last baron got some love
Nailed it!!
Two of my favorite bands. You’re playing Mastodon and wearing Rancid.
I was about to complain about the lack of Emperor Of Sand riffs (Scorpions Breath, Andromeda, Sultans Curse, Ancient Kingdom...) but The Last Baron riff just touched my heart...
sick bro
If you ever feel like making a video showcasing riffs that utilize both guitars as a solid, tight, unrelenting unit; use Emperor riffs.
well done in the last baron riff
Almsot 100k subs keep up the good work my dude
Aaaahhhhhh 2 of my all time favourites - Blood & Thunder and Colony Of Birchmen 👍👍
Awesome!
Sad that "Sultan's Curse" wasn't here :( Awesome video as usual my dude! \m/
Iced Earth riffs please man! Btw love your tones and playing.
THIS. Iced Earth has some the best riffs, I've ever heard. Many of which are in Dante's Inferno.
@@thetribalist6923 the main riff is the ultimate headbanging thrash riff.
@@leonid7785 that riff is unreal. Also, the harmony riff in the breakdown; the ine right before the "Queen of Vipers" bit is so sinister. Also the outro. Also, the whole song.
@@thetribalist6923 ua-cam.com/video/kwqcG4foZak/v-deo.html
included many Iced Earth :)
very unique riffs
Bold move to just play Iron Tusk 10 times in a row, but I couldn't agree more. One of the most satisfying, simple, badass, and unbelievably heavy grooves of all time.
Not sure if that megalodon riff really is a "Mastodon" riff lmao but still a sick riff, my favorite band. Sick video as always!
My two favorite Mastodon riffs next to each other in the same video, Iron Tusk and The Last Baron
YES!!!
Finally Mastodon. I've been waiting for this video, for so long and that was a deep shit bro hahaha
I can't thank you enough man!
Ps: almost 100k subscribers \m/
And I can't thank you enough for the support my bro! Really hope your wait was worth it.
P.S yeah, it would be really nice to reach 100k for my Birthday (July 31st) :D
Last baron! Nailed it!
Man do the hook riff of the Czar! It is one my favorite all time mastodon riffs, so is the solo.
I'm pretty sure the last baron riff is the best riff ever written by anyone
I love this seabeast breakdown
It's really blast!
yes, I would have done the same list !
Aww that's nice!
If the High Road riff sounded exactly like your version then that would be my favorite mastodon song
I hope you take a The Leper Affinity riff for Opeth's.
You could share me your own top 10 or more Opeth riffs. I'll take this into account.
@@VERMILIONGOD Sure.
1 - The Leper Affinity (My favorite song, any riff will do)
2 - Blackwater Park (Any)
3 - Master's Apprentices (Any)
4 - A Fair Judgement (Outro)
5 - Deliverance (Outro)
6 - White Cluster (Solo bases)
7 - Harlequin Forest (Any but the outro is great)
8 - Slither (Any)
9 - The Funeral Portrait (Any)
10 - Demon of The Fall (Any)
11 - The Amen Corner (Any)
12 - The Grand Conjuration (Any)
Pretty hard list to create, but I hope it helps :)
Great video!! I'm really having a hard time with the pinky pull off on the Last Baron riff. The string wants to hit my ring finger. I'll keep trying.
the use of sliding natural harmonics in the The Last Baron riff is fucking INSPIRED
w8 you got that awesome tone from the joyo amp?? great job man! big fan of mastodon myself.
Awesome
very creativ riffs
Kudos on the Rancid 2000 Tee. Absolutely filthy album.
Iron Tusk!! Such an addicting riff.
Top ten Down, Crowbar, or COC riffs would be cool!
It's kinda sad, that people overlook Mastodon because of Gojira.
both my fav , but mastodon in terms of riffing wins and gojira win terms of rhythm.
That's why I have made both Gojira and Mastodon videos
I disagree
Tanirbergen Mustafa i love both
Both are my favorite metal bands, Mastodon is 100% superior in terms of writing though. Both have some of- if not the tightest live performances of any metal bands ever.
