    Well the new designs are awesome! Especially the lower horns killer job designing them. Your ggbo is beautiful aswell! You are the melamine lacquer master! Out of all the builders I watch I think you’ve have the best hand applied finish, including Ben.

    I’ve been itching to watch this since you uploaded it. (I’ve been ‘down south’ for a couple of days visiting prospective universities with my son) it’s come out fantastic, your face kind of said it all when you dry noodled it. Its great to see the care and attention you put into your builds, and I reference your videos a lot. Am looking forward to hearing this one - you’ll have to channel your inner Angus!

      Thanks Jamie, I always look forward to hearing your thoughts. It’s great to know that my videos are of some use too and thanks for the kind comment. I’m itching to put it through its paces too so yes a little bit of gain and a lot of volume will be in order! 👍

      Haha, but I have AC/DC through the earphones a lot! 😀 when I’m going for a gloss finish I like to go really high gloss and the melamine comes up like glass, I really like it, I don’t think I’ll be trying anything else for gloss finishes anytime soon.

    Nice designs Gio - you've nailed the signature look on the lower horn! I'm going to try melamine lacquer on a future build; I've used it on some of my wood-turning stuff, but haven't tried it on an instrument. I'll still French polish my acoustic tops though..!

    Nice guitar designs. Interesting way you handled the control cavity Looks nice. The ash body of your GGBO 2022 build looks really good even without any grain enhancements. Also I think it is your best design of body style. I like the way it is elongated stretched out more length wise. The finish you put on it came out fantastic.

      Thanks for the kind comment Robert! 👍 I’m really pleased with this one came out. My problem at the moment is that I have so many designs I’m torn which way to go. I’m wondering if maybe I should just build one of each and see what people think. Thanks also for the kind words about the finish, it took some work! 😀

    Nice to see your subscriber count growing so quick. Excellent. Nice video! ✌️I like the designs. They're both unique and "you". I think the double is my favorite. What is that you're using for grain filler? That neck is beautiful brother.

    • @TornelliGuitars
      @TornelliGuitars  2 роки тому

      Thanks Todd, I always appreciate your comments! 🙏 the grain filler is Z-poxy. It works really well so long as it’s a warm environment.

    I love both the shapes as well as your head stock. You cheated on the branding but this video had FRICKEN LASER BEAMS!!!
    The finish work is nothing less then perfection mate. That's dedication and pride in what you do to sand and polish it that good.
    My thoughts on future builds of these models. Definitely different wood for the body unless you plan on solid color painting. The shape speaks to me in a far more subtle manor then that wide grain pattern being so straight portrays. I think more intricate grain patterns would better suit them. Same with the Gotoh tuners with that super chonky locking wheel too brutish and heavy looking on any build IMHO. Again that's just my old boomer tastes in wood working shining thru. It is still a beautiful guitar no matter who looks at it thru whoever's eyes. Can't wait to hear how it plays. It looks VERY comfortable too.

    • @TornelliGuitars
      @TornelliGuitars  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks Bill. I think you may well be right on lower profile tuners. Also thanks for your thoughts on the wood, I hadn’t considered that. And yes I did cheat on the logo but I traded off by adding extra sanding! 😀 thanks also for your kind words on the finish, I really appreciate it. I never forget that the first thing someone sees is the quality of the finish! As always I really appreciate your feedback!👍

    Awesome finish love that lacquer! Is it a pain to apply? I've never seen it used before.

    • @TornelliGuitars
      @TornelliGuitars  2 роки тому

      Thanks for the kind comment!👍 The melamine is pretty easy to apply, it goes on fast and builds pretty quick but it requires a fair bit of sanding at 800 to level it. But if you’re okay with that then it’s great, and it comes up like glass which is what I like for high gloss finish. Plus I’m not really set up to spray, so for me it’s perfect.

    • @micksguitarsarecool
      @micksguitarsarecool 2 роки тому

      @@TornelliGuitars How many coats do you apply? I've only used truoil so far which seems like cheating because it's so easy. The guitar looks awesome!

    • @TornelliGuitars
      @TornelliGuitars  2 роки тому +1

      @@micksguitarsarecool normally 6 because I also use it to grain fill. I would say that if you’re happy with Tru oil you may be better to stick with it, it’s definitely less work than melamine. I did a tutorial vid if you’re interested. It’s called ‘high gloss finish option’ on my channel. You could see what you think and whether it’s worth the extra effort.

  • @34guitars

    Really nice job! I like the neck and body combination. A couple of questions, I have a laser and I was wondering how you like the mother of pearl powder as an inlay material? Any close up pics? And. Do you need string trees with a fender style headstock and 3x3 tuners? Thanks

    • @TornelliGuitars
      @TornelliGuitars  2 роки тому

      Sorry, I’ve only just seen this comment as you’ve made another on a different video. Thanks for the kind words, the inlay powder is a white pearl pigment powder, I suspect it’s not as good as using mother of pearl as it’s a bit more transparent but I hope to use MOP soon. I’ll do some close ups shortly and I’ll also be testing out a few colours so I’ll be sure to add those into my vids. If you’re thinking about laser engraving fret inlays and the filling a unique shape with Some powder I’d say go for it, its something I’m going to be doing very soon because I’ve tested it (with pigment powder) and it works great. The deeper the engraving, the better the result I’ve found. Also I didn’t need string trees but likely just because I used staggered tuners.

    Your body designs will certainly stand out at shows. Two questions whilst I'm in information sponge mode: Where did you get your neck profile template (I'm looking for one at the moment) and what was the pore/grain filler goop you used?

    • @TornelliGuitars
      @TornelliGuitars  2 роки тому

      Thanks Chris, I get all my supplies including the neck templates from TLC Guitar Goods in Netherlands. I also got the Z-Poxy there which is what I used for grain filler. The Z poxy is very slightly tinted which means it does the same thing to pop grain that oil tends to do, which I like.

    • @ChrisFranklyn
      @ChrisFranklyn 2 роки тому

      @@TornelliGuitars Oh wow, I'm seeing Z Poxy coming up more and more. Definitely need to investigate that! Tye from ShockTheFox has used it under an oil finish which isn't something I'd considered.

    • @TornelliGuitars
      @TornelliGuitars  2 роки тому +1

      @@ChrisFranklyn yeah, it’s not one of those products that everyone knows about but I’ve found it pretty good. I did have one test where it just didn’t go off and that was because I applied it when it was really cold. Irrespective of how much heat I applied after the event, it just didn’t want to go off so I’d suggest always applying it in the recommended temperature (other epoxy I’ve used has been more forgiving). That being said, it cures quickly and sands well so it’s a good grain filler. I’m testing it at the moment under dye! I.e grain filling with zpoxy then sanding right back to the wood and then using dye, I’ll let you know how that goes. 👍
