The use of magnets in that grid was really clever! It'd be cool to see one of these in a non-ferrous metal so that it would glad a little more readily.
Thank you! I may have to give that a try. This is my third one so far. I have as ton of magnets left over. Yeah, leather is not as slippery as other materials for sure lol. It does keep my hands occupied when I’m bored tho 😁
@@darkchild57 It's a solid idea. Have you considered outsourcing that idea to someone like WE Knives? You've got design skills, so I bet a fully fleshed out mock-up wouldn't be to difficult to make for an NDA

Is it possible to provide any specifics about the type of leather and the thickness of leather used, because here the leather needs to be relatively stiff, but all the leather I have worked with till now is rather soft
I used 2oz leather but it’s layered together. So it’s 6 layers. Also I used tragacanth gum to finish the edges so that stiffened it up s as well as the glue in between the layers. Another method is to wet the leather and let it dry completely. This process hardens it. It’s how I make my friction sheaths for knives and multi tools. I have a few videos on my channel regarding those projects.

I purposely made this version larger because the smaller one was giving me hand cramps after extended times. This one is way more comfy to fidget with 🙂
This one is almost twice the size of version 2. The larger size makes doesn’t cramp my hands as easily. It works and it’s definitely fun when I’m on a long meeting. I just mute and click away 😂
