Trevor going emotionally back and forth at Franklin's place is so well written. It's all stuff I've seen in people that have difficulty with relationships because they have a history of terrible ones. Acting cool and tripping over the gate. Getting insecure over it and not being able to laugh at himself like he suggested to Franklin because Trevor struggles with feeling vulnerable. Offering a hug because he wants connection but then drops it because he's too scared of seeming weirdor maybe the connection. Then tries to play it off as a prank. The whole scene there's random bursts of rage stemming from the emotions. Then he feels embarrassed and knows he is acting ridiculous. Which he tries to basically confirm in his moment of clarity with the lines "I'm an asshole... i had a difficult childhood" It's like the writers crammed the symptoms of cptsd and borderline personality disorder in one scene.
In short, Trevor is a complicated yet vulnerable character. He may be crazy, but he’s a person that went through a lot in his life. He likes the life that he lives now, but all he wants mostly is connection and love.✨

Like when Trevor falls down and he laughs he recognizes Trevor was actually hurt by that and so Frank calms down, he tries to get Trevor to see reason and apologizes, just like T Franklin actually cares about the people around him and despite being close with Michael still sees the wisdom in his words but can still call him out on morally reprehensible shit. Thankfully in GTA Online we know that Frank succeeded without that advice from Mike, he didn't leave Lamar and he didn't forget where he came from but he still managed to make something greater of himself without the killing and without the violence, at least without him directly doing it.
