I just think the Vikings deserve more love. And the national media just doesn’t want to cave and give them any. And when they do, it feels forced and not genuine. And us Minnesota fans, are starving for some genuine love from the media.
I appreciate the sentiment and think Sam definitely deserves to be part of the conversation... even if I do recognize that both Jackson and Allen are superior talents with performance metrics a tier above him. Ultimately, one of those two top dogs will (deservedly) win MVP. For whatever reason, Sam's 2024 campaign is flying under the radar. As much as I'm loving the Baker Mayfield redemption arc, and I believe Baker totally deserves his flowers he's being given, Sam's own arc is being unfairly ignored in contrast---and this despite Sam leading a better team with a better record. What he is doing is at least as impressive a what Baker is doing in Tampa. I'm glad you are shining a light on this. Especially with the Lions (another great story) losing some momentum, people shouldn't sleep on the Vikings. They have a very legit shot at winning the NFC championship.
I appreciate what you're saying. People want to say he's being a fair weather fan. This is what happens in the NFL when it comes down to chemistry. Example is Kurt Warner, Tom Brady, now, Sam Darnold. I have always said that these high drafted individuals that become busts. Are because of the organization they signed with, overall didn't have the chemistry when the drafted player entered. Many of them never find it so, what happens, they blame and isolate the individual player and label them a bust. A disciplined man will ignore opinions and keep pushing and if he finds that chemistry, We've seen it, but it's rare. If the organizations could accept this psychology, it would fair better in shaping better teams.
We were not surprised to have a rookie quarterback starting.. go back and look.. before Sam Darnold took a snap he was labeled the starter.. and the McCarthy injury affected us not.. KOC brought Sam in and said he was going to have a chance to have a special year.. just saying
“Maybe Joe Namath left them with something”. That’s hilarious Edit: I’m not sure if it’s my bias, but hearing Aaron Jones say it’s the most fun he’s had on a team seems pretty significant. I know fandom is a hell of a drug, but I think I really do feel that.
Did you work or play for Northern State University in Aberdeen? Thats awesome! My Aunt lived there for a while, I'm in Sioux Falls. I think those Vikes will take care of business on Sunday. SKOL VIKINGS!!!!!
While I love your analysis week in an d week out, I’m a fan. I via mentality disagree that JJ was week 1 starter. Darnold was ALWAYS gonna be the starting QB against the giants and if successful vaulting himself into a starter role for 5 games. Now we didn’t have the controversy because of the injury I still believe with exceptional pre-season play JJ would have backed up, Thor Nystrom a big JJ advocate would agree. I think it is muddled by the injury
All we keep hearing in the media is how good the Packers are I'm sorry they trash period have no air game and if I remember correctly it was 28 -0 at half in lambeau last time they met good luck Packers give me Vikings 34- 21
I would go with JJ and build a better team with the money you would save cause Sam going to try to get 30,000,000 a year if we had better cornerback and more depth I believe we go all in with JJ
Didn't Vikings sign darnold to bridge JJ McCarthy until he was ready? They signed the right guy at the right time around the group Darnold paid his dues, and now it's paying off!! SCHOL Vikings!!!
Unless Darnold wins a SB this year, I personally think it's a bad idea blowing a huge wad of cash signing him to a long expensive contract. You're taking a chance on this being kirk 2.0 if he has a sophomore slump with us. No thanks! JJ is 6 years younger and you have 3-4 years to build a roster around him before having to write a huge check! The execs can franchise Darnold if they want to operate out of fear, like a lot of us Viks fans operate. We can't be a desperate organization ! To win SB's you need to be great in the trenches and have a QB that doesn't take up too much of the salary cap! Without paying Sam a lot of money we can get better in the trenches! Sam is going to demand top 3-10 QB money and we are just getting out of salary cap hell. Go with JJ and Daniel Jones, if Jones decides to stay and compete. Jones years in NY were better than Darnolds in NY/SC and he didn't have much to work with either. I personally don't want kirk 2.0. Franchise tag or let Sam test the market! Kwesi/KOC know what the have in Darnold, JJ and Jones, and in my opinion that's why they haven't already made Sam an offer: But I'm just a long time fan so what do I know 🤷🏽♂️😂
@vancebarnesshow I don't think they would have rushed McCarthy in but who knows. And the way the season is going it looks like Sam is the right choice 💜

Sam Darnold is the "missing piece" that the Vikings needed, not Kirk Cousins.
