Well not all cichlids are aggressive my man discus are cichlids Oscar are cichlids end they have deferent behavior my Oscar would spaghettini all u guppies so not all cichlids can go with smaller fish unless u trying to feed them
Glad to hear it. Most of the time they are just in shock and the key is to keep them upright and oxygenated as much as possible. When they are laying down get them upright immediately and they will begin to come around.

I have kept fish all my life I have a beautiful 125 that I might do discus. But I’m a little hesitant about it. I just don’t want to do so many water changes. I do one a week. Watching your video helps me out. Thanks

The only part that I questioned is Beef Heart, as it is known to soil the water but more importantly, it is more difficult to digest and most use turkey instead, as there are less long fibers to break down. Many say that BH is used mostly for economic reasons, especially when feeding huge amounts of fish. Have a great day.
I don't know about Turkey but breeders use beef heart because it contains no animal which they cannot digest and will cause organ failure plus it has a ton of protein in it. I have had problems when I fed this too much but mostly when you feed any fish a lot of protein eventually they start doing poorly but I'm not sure the exact reason.
I bought some discus 2-3 inches I bought four and had the shipped in. One didn't make it and one was really stressed. How can I help him come back. They are all three eating. But he just not doing well. The other two are doing great.
Eating is a good sign. If you have an air pump and a large air stone drop it in and increase water circulation as much as possible. Shipping is a huge stress on discus especially the small ones. They should start to color up soon enough. Thanks.

Could that be the cause of why he is going dark bullying? I have air stone and I have a long tube bubbler going that I increased. Hello. I’ve been keeping Discus for about a year and some got sick. I took the healthier ones and put them in another tank and they are doing great. But the others are not doing so well. What’s happening is they have a white slime looking film on them, they’re not eating, and now some are laying on the bottom of the tank. I’ve been doing water changes a lot and I’ve added some Herbal Actives Artemiss and some aquarium salt. Do you know what they’re sick with and how I should treat it? One other thing I’ve noticed is that my water hardness has been gradually getting more hard and I don’t know what to lower it.
It sounds like columnaris early on you can do saltwater dips which there are a ton of videos on but in your case I would get a strong antibiotic that fights gram negative bacteria like oxytetracyline and lower your tank temperature down to about 78° farenheit because columnaris love higher temperatures but can't thrive as well below 80°. Also do a 100% water change before you do anything else.

Until the infection is over. The reason they recommend that you raise the temp is to increase the fish's appetite and get them eating. But if you do columnaris thrives. It is also a substrate bacteria so be sure to vacuum your sand or gravel well. One sure tip that it is columnaris is some or all of your discus will have a single round white spot on their scales like and injury but at that point you better hit it hard because once it goes from an skin infection to an internal infection it's hard to beat. One final tip anytime you have a discus that is staying at the top of the water and not swimming with the others or just simply missing a meal, something is wrong and it's always time to check water parameters and check for signs of infection. I hope you win the battle and all your fish survive. Don't worry this is something almost all discus keepers encounter.
It's a green severum. She is a little rambunctious at times but they get along very well. I was cautious about putting her in there but luckily it worked out.
What's the hardness of your water? I live in utah which has very hard water our water softener for our home where gonna use potassium salt which is safe for fish.

I would suggest getting a RODI filter and adding some in to soften the water and that should drop your ph . I would imagine you have super hard water where you are.
Yes you are right. Discus want consistent conditions. Keep it clean and keep it simple.

I just got my first set (6) of discus...half of them have been laying down on the bottom of the tank for 24 hours now. This video was very helpful.

Get the water churning as much as possible and large air stones pumping air and use your hands if you have to they can't breathe as well laying down.

Since they are tank bred they will adjust to most any tap water.

Glad to hear it . I only do one 20 to 25 percent water change per week.
You've got large discus which are much more easy to deal with than small juveniles they are almost impossible

It's a shame that a food that fish love so much can cause so many problems. I don't know any fish that won't go crazy over blood worms.
Heat a big medicine for dark discus with slime disease also being able to drop ph to 5.4 ph brings them back from the dead.

It's a Severum
One med size discus always keeps to himself, they are 5 other discus but he doesn’t socialize and hangs alone doesn’t eat….. your thoughts

I agree but I had no choice at the time and it has worked out well for me fortunately.
