Hi Laura, I'm very happy you decided to show a bit of Thai cuisine 🥰 And I appreciate that you called it "Thai Basil Chicken" and not 'Pad Ka Prao' (also written kra pao sometimes), since you are not using Kra Pao (Thai Holy Basil). Personally, I would use chicken thighs instead of chicken breast, that would be more tender and juicier. Also, you could try to pound chili and garlic instead of chopping it, that would for sure bring more flavor and spiciness to the dish (if you like spicy of course^^). I do have a recipe for this dish if you would like to have a look.
There's a Thai dish called "pad kaprao", which is minced chicken or pork stir-fried with the same sauce (plus dark soy sauce) and spices, shallot, green beans and "kaprao", or in English, holy basil. It's a variety of the herb that is commonly used in Thai cuisine besides Thai basil, and it actually tastes closer to Italian basil than to Thai, so Italian is a great subtitute. BTW, the Thai often top this dish with a crispy sunny-side-up egg, which I highly recommend. In fact I learnt all this from the YT channel Pailin's Kitchen. If you like Thai food, you must check that out.
I'm Thai and this is so close to Pad Krapao Laura! The seasoning is the same when I make it at home. Normally we pound garlic and chilli in mortar first before putting it in the wok, it will smell so much better.
I just found her a month or two ago don’t know why it never has shown me her before. UA-cam and their strange algorithms 🤦♀️. Glad I found her though she’s amazing and all the food I’ve cooked has been amazing!! Thank you Laura for making dinner time enjoyable again. Btw the summer squash pasta is a huge hit here!! We are not vegetarian but lean that way and that pasta was yummy!!

Hi Laura! I absolutely love Thai food, but it's a little hard to come by. Your recipe looks absolutely amazing! Probably just as good if not better than any Thai restaurant! Very well done my lovely friend! Thanks for sharing your recipe. Have a great weekend and stay safe out there!
Here comes another great recipe 😋 Thank you Laura for always being here for us♥️ you're literally the saviour at all of our "fun nights in" learned the terminology from you😄😄

Mrs. Laura Vitale, a couple of tips, if you want year round thai basil & regular basil, buy an indoor planter window box, hangs on the inside of a window that gets the most sun year round, use potting soil & separate the the seeds 1/2 & & 1/2 , refraction from sun thru window will grow them year round, water occasionally, also for nuetral oil, grape seed oil is much less costly than avocado oil here.this is a great recipe. If you like serious spicy heat, use red thai peppers, real serious use the green, & i do mean spicy hot.
thank you Mrs. Laura! I just discovered Thai Basil Chicken, and so excited for your recipe. We like to use our wok on the side burner of the outdoor grill. always works really well!
Love your videos Laura! I had the same problem with Thai basil too. What I found later was you could propagate the Thai basil next time you get any. They are perennials and they are sooooo easy to keep in your windowsill! I propagated mine from the free ones they give you with a bowl of pho at the restaurant!
Looks amazing and easy! I’m Hmong from Minnesota and I love watching your show!!! I’ve sent you Thai ingredients before and was wondering if you ever received them in the past.
I really got to start growing the basil in my garden again. Homegrown herbs are so much cheaper and more accessible if you use it a lot in you cooking. My herb garden right now is pretty big with an abundance of mint, rosemary, sage and thyme and also parsley which are year round herbs, i really wish basil was year round.
O that looks delicious!! Thanks again!! Today I made your delicious chicken ragu recipe!! It was unbelievable good 👍 👏!! Bless you and your family 🙏🏾🇳🇱
Is Tulsi a Thai basil? It grows like a weed here in my Florida garden and I can pick anytime. Smells divine but needed a good recipe to use for cooking instead of just drying it for tea. Thanks so much.
Hi Laura, like you I have searched to replicate my favorite Thai recipe which is very close to yours. After years of searching I found a recipe that is close to what my fav thai restaurant makes. My fav Thai dish is Thai Beef with basil. The secret sauce I found was 1/3 cup hoisin sauce, 1/4 soy sauce and 3 Tbls of fish sauce, thinned out with a bit of water. So it is very close to your sauce recipe. I know the oyster + sugar is a substitute for hoisin, so very similar. I used thinly sliced rib eye and whatever your favorite veggies are: peppers, onions, broccoli. And I also throw in a huge batch of basil from my garden. I love basil in every bite. I just use sweet basil.
I don't mean to be "that guy", but high temperatures are not recommended with non-stick cookware. Correct me if I am wrong, but It damages the non-stick surface over time. I would use stainless steel in replace of a wok. Just my 2 cents. Nevertheless, I will try this recipe for sure!
Correct. The non-stick surface is applied using high heat. Thus, when placed over high heat, it begins to weaken the bonds of the chemicals. If you are using metal to stir, you run the risk of scraping off some loose chemicals right into your food.
Back when you made those raspberry cupcakes. How would it be to throw in fresh raspberries in the vanilla cake mix, or would that ruin it? I love raspberries.
If you wanted to, you can also propagate Thai Basil! That’s what we did, almost every time that we go to a Vietnamese restaurant I would just take a little bit of the basil.
I live in Switzerland and I like to use normal basil, because the holy basil I get here is just not as flavorful as in Thailand. A must for me though is the crispy egg
Hey Laura, I had an electric wok for a long time and it worked just fine. You might consider getting that? This recipe looks yummy- except my gut can’t handle spicy. Can I substitute red peppers for the Chile’s?
I recently went after my dream and started my own cooking channel. I would love to share my easy and delicious recipes with you.👩🏻🍳🥰 Bless you Yesenia!
Have you considered doing shrimp Parmesan? I’ve seen some other UA-cam recipes, some that treated exactly like chicken Parmesan and others that treat it more like an entree. What’s your approach?
Laura in the kitchen has gave me many awesome recipes throughout the years. Thank you for being so consistent
I admire her consistency! 🥰

I love Pad Krapao so so much. but have never put dark soy sauce, green beans and shallot in mine. sounds interesting
Is holy basil the same as tulsi?
@@shals100 TBH I've never heard of tulsi, but Google said yes, they're the same.

I also read that high temperatures on non-stick cookware can cause poisonous gasses to form.
