It wouldn't have fit the scene but imagine if they started playing Something in the way while panning out and when the beat drops the credits start rolling.
In the end, it shows that Oz may have had some humanizing moments shown throughout the show. But was and always will be the villain of the story and one of Batman's greatest enemies.
HUMANIZING ? Well, they didnt actually watch the show. They just see who wins. In this case, the white guy won, while the strong independent woman is in prison and the innocent minority is dead
That almost certainly won't happen. The ending of The Batman (2022) makes clear that Bruce has learned to be less brutal in his crusade for justice. More hope, less vengeance. Besides, even in the first movie he only beat up people who physically attacked him, like those thugs at the station, and I don't expect Oz would attempt to physically fight Batman.
How ironic that when literally oz thought no one's left to stop him only to have the bat signal lit up. Batman dismissed him as a nobody, and now became a threat in gotham.
The fact that he kept his own mother in a vegetative state rather than letting her die just so he can feel like he accomplished what he set out to do to stroke his own ego. He needs so bad to believe he's someone. Like when Sal has a heart attack, he needs that mythology, the streets kid is now beating the big mafia boss and taking the city with a great and methodical plan instead of luck and betrayal
i think the scene between Eve and Sofia in episode 6 is overlooked. The first part hints at Eve knowing what Oz likes and that he's not that complicated. This makes me believe she cosplayed as Oz"s mother before the finale of episode 8. The second part of the conversation hints at a potential betrayal of Eve towards Oz. Talking about how she got her girls back and since 2 of the victims of the hangman where like family to her now knowing that Oz was involved made her spill the beans on Oz"s location. Gotta keep an eye on Eve i think.
Oz will kill eve. She was the only person who knew where he was living. She ratted him out to protect her own skin. I imagine Eve will get killed in The Batman 2.
This is how you do a proper villain story. Humanizing them doesn't always have to strip away their villainous nature. The Penguin doesn't fall into the trap of making him a sympathetic misunderstood anti-hero
Anything that would make Penguin remotely sympathetic was quickly overshadowed by some evil act. They set this up well so that no one will ever feel sorry for the Penguin except for the Penguin.
It really cements Batman as hope when people are so excited by the Bat-Signal's "warning" to scum like The Penguin & the justice it represents to wronged souls like Vic.
The problem is that Oz never had a soul. That was the twist. Man killed his own two brothers as a boy without a thought and didn't lose a minute of sleep about it.
A friend of mine told me that The Penguin is a nasty piece of work in the comics, so I guess this portrayal was bang on the money. It will be pretty sweet to see Batman's fist in his face.
Man...years from now, when Oz is finally caught by the Law and being chased down by Batman, I just need a scene where he runs back to this building and after smashing through his henchmen Batman catches him trying to escape with his mother's withered corpse, screaming the whole time for the Bat to "STAY AWAY FROM MY MA!" ala Norman Bates.
Oh god I would love to see that. Have Batman tear him down verbally for killing his brothers (maybe he goes to Sofia or her doctor for intel on the Penguin and they spill the beans to him).
