Peter you're such a wonderful person I love seeing you talk about Freddy and all the fun you had in Garden Lodge we miss him very much and I know you miss him very very very very very very much love you till the next time I hope it's soon❤❤
I love listening to “Phoebe” anytime! The love just flows from his eyes for Freddie whenever he talks about him. It always makes me smile. So thank you for that. And thank you Peter.
Some wonderful memories from Peter/Phoebe, a dear friend of Freddie's. I could see he was quite emotional at times, but thank you Peter for sharing those moments with us. x
That's right!!! Freddie laughed often and his laugh was so unique, it would've been great to have it in the movie and I add : provided Rami Malek able to pull it off or not!
Thank you so much I enjoyed this! & that ending of Peter's (😚Phoebe's) story about Freddie's scarf & Prince Andrew's plate is a moment to treasure that got me tickled pink! Peter Freestone is so fortunate coz he's rich with such great memories in his life!
Also, I suspect one of the reasons why Freddie enjoyed watching his video of the Prince concert is because he reminded him of one of his musical idols, Jimi Hendrix.
"Agony aunt"...LOL. Thank you for these wonderful interviews...I love Peter Freestone's blog (and good to hear he promises to get more Ask Phoebe posts up soon) and of course, hearing him speak about Freddie and his time with him. His stories about Freddie always make me laugh and smile. He is such a lovely man and to me, THE authoritative expert on Freddie and his life. I would have loved to have seen more of Freddie laughing in the movie as well, and the charisma and sense of humor he often showed in interviews. And speaking of Prince, I've been thinking recently that it's too bad he and Freddie didn't record something together. I think it would have been a great collaboration.
Thank you Peter/ Phoebe. So glad I came across this first you look well. Glad. I didn't but should have known your were on set with the movie production. I appreciate your response to fans like me, distressed with the portrayal of Freddie. Thank you. I read your book and have no doubt of your loyalty. I must say I don't understand the billing of queen and Adam Lambert. The worst is Saddam being called queens frontman and in many ways, by some having better vocals then Freddie. It seems Brian and Rodger are milking Freddie for all he's worth. It makes me sad.
We love you Peter(Phoebe) you are such a wonderful manand a real friend to Freddie. Loved you book, please make another!!!!!!! I wish you toured America so I could sit in the same room with you.

Peter is absolutely right about Bo Rhap the movie-it wasn’t meant to be a documentary or an exact timeline, it is a celebration of Freddie and Queen and it had to fit the Hollywood formula. I love hearing him talk about how Rami managed to become the Freddie he knew in certain scenes, and knowing Peter cried at the representation of the man he knew for 12 years just cements the fact that Rami deserved his Oscar. Great interview.
OH MY GOD THANK YOU. FINALLY SOMEONE SHARING MY THOUGHTS VERBATIM. HE SAID RAMI WORKED REALLY HARD AND HE CREATED "HIS VERSION OF FREDDIE" Amazing. Angie,. Very sweet and good job getting a relatively new story out of Peter about meeting prince Andrew! I have to comment though that that cheap music in the background is really annoying!
Ta H wtf?! Cheap music? It’s literally Freddie and Queen doing one of the groups most well loved songs! Why are you even here if you don’t know their music?’
Yasmin !??? No, it's not. Maybe in one small part, but there's low music througout most of the interview which just makes it hard to understand them both.
BlackRoses/Black Coffee I think he tells it like it is. He was on set for 5 months like he said, he’s on record many times saying he’s proud of the movie but there were liberties taken in the movie because they had to fit over a decade of the band’s history into a few hours. Even Paul Printer was the compilation of 3 people I heard Peter say once, and the Hot Space interview had references to other interviews, such as the musical prostitute comment.
Anyone notice that he didn’t answer what Freddie would’ve thought of the movie? He answered what HE thought of it. He still seems like a really nice guy, though.
The movie used Freddie as a scapegoat for tension within the band when even the other members of the band said he was the diplomat of the group who moderated disagreements. I love that the movie brought new fans to Queen. I'm not trying to bash the movie. There were some really great parts in it but it has its faults. I couldn't say weather Freddie would have loved or hated it. I think there are two arguments for that. The first being that Freddie was more than a little vain and I can see where he could take offence to some of the not so flattering parts especially the ones that weren't true. However one of his dying wishes was "never make me boring." Well they succeeded on that front. So maybe he would have loved it. Maybe he would have hated it. We'll never know. But I encourage all new fans to look into the actual history of the band and learn the truth. The four of them are/were amazing. So much better than any movie could ever have the time to tell you.
@@amandab5941 I agree, the movie totally used Freddie as a scapegoat and misrepresented a lot of real events. It’s crazy to see how certain band members have contradicted themselves with things they’ve said while promoting this movie versus things they’ve said before the movie. I truly believe that if Freddie were still alive that this would be a totally different movie. None of us can attest to what Freddie would have thought about the movie, but I think he wouldn’t have allowed himself to be presented like he ended up being presented in the movie. Even though he said don’t make me boring he also said he wanted to be presented warts and all for who he really was, this movie failed to do that. Rami played someone, but that someone was not Freddie. On the flip side, I think he might have gotten a kick out of all the attention the movie has brought back to Queen and him. Lol the only thing I disagree with you on is not bashing the movie, I think the movie sucks. To me, the movie is horrible as a Queen/Freddie movie, and it simply mediocre as a movie about a fake band (I thought the script dialogue was really cheesy). I would have liked to have seen real things in the movie like Freddie and Roger’s clothing stall, more about how John joined, the confrontation between Freddie and Sid Vicious, stuff about their fight with their label (Death on Two Legs), and seen stuff about the actually controversy that led up to Live Aid surrounding them performing in South Africa. But, I’m a Queen nerd, no movie would have ever had everything but to me, this movie didn’t cut it and was kind of disrespectful.
@@Tgirl315 I only hesitate to bash the movie because it has done a wonderful job of bringing in new fans and has the all time best soundtrack of any movie ever. I wholeheartedly agree that the movie does not deserve the hype it got in many respects. I too am a huge Queen nerd and would have loved a more historically accurate story line because the four of them made a much more compelling true life story than the movie presented to new fans who don't know the truth. I have told a few new fans I know that one day I will sit down with them, remote control in hand and pause the movie every five seconds and correct the lies and distortions presented in the movie so that they can understand why I am not a huge fan of the movie.

Peter loving the scene where Freddie groveled to get back into a band he never actually left baffles me. Freestone's made a career of telling Freddie's secrets. He may have been a friend to Freddie when he was alive but those days are gone. Freddie is now just his meal ticket and way to remain relevant using Freddie's ashes to do so.This movie portrayed Freddie as a selfish, spoiled brat, nothing like Freddie at all. I realize they only had two hours but only Freddie's life was badly distorted and Freestone went along with it.
Freddie is Freestones meal ticket. The way Freddie was portrayed in the movie nothing like the beautiful thoughtful kind TRUE Freddie And Brian and Roger went along with it which disgusts me. No Freddie no Queen he was Queen.
I understand the timeline discrepancies. but giving him AIDS before live aid was disgusting and misleading. He made 3 more queen albums and a tour after Live Aid.
dirkworld I understand your feelings but as Peter said, they wanted to end on a high note, what better high note than to end at the summit of the band’s career and you have to admit Live Aid was indeed the pinnacle of their entire career, even more so than the song to which the film was named. If they hadn’t brought AIDS into it where they did, the backlash would have been enormous. The way they faded out to them walking off stage to showing the iconic photo of Freddie and giving the notice of his death was very emotional and a fitting way to end the movie. Then to show the real Freddie singing Don’t Stop Me Now brought a smile back to the viewers face. At least it did mine. Some want a sequel, others no. I’d like to see some of the things you mentioned and I’d love to see more of then in the recording studio and the Magic tour. I’d love to see more about Freddie’s solo career. Maybe a TV mini series would be best. But who could play Freddie like Rami did? He truly did channel Freddie in a unique way. At times I had to shake my head and remind myself it was Rami and not Freddie.
Most of all, they made him and Jim get together AFTER Freddie’s diagnosis and not BEFORE: they just cut away half of the drama and despair. Imagine how emotional and fitting it would have been for a movie to show Freddie confessing his illness to Jim and he not leaving his side even knowing to have been damned to the same fate. And, if they wanted to end the movie “on stage”, they could have ended it with Knebworth Park as well, just anticipating the diagnosis by a few months, instead of a couple of years: the dramatic effect would have been the same.
