This is probably already well known, but with Dedf1sh seeming to be a reference to Deadmau5, who signed and helped REZZ’s career (REZZ is an artist that has visual similarity to Dedf1sh, as well as making more unsettling music than Deadmau5, having to do with the occult and hypnotism), I can’t help but feel like Dedf1sh is the splatoon universe’s REZZ. they even both got obscuring goggles and a cap. Anyway, give REZZ a listen. She’s great.

I'd like to think that Dedf1sh is only partly sanitized, with her being one of the first octolings, a mere prototype. She kinda wanted to be sanitized, and the music tracks up to #8 all represent her feelings of them. Being a shell of her former self, being able to make progress, etc. The missing tracks are supposed to be her forgotten memories. (My headcanon is that Inklings and Octolings have to be injected with the sanitized ink in the brain, which effectively makes them zombies with no sense of emotions and no memories, and then they're force-fed the ideals of Kamabo Co. in order to complete the "sanitization process". For normal Octarians, though, it's much easier. This means that Dedf1sh only had part of her memories left). #9 represents her discovering the metro and the other test subjects, effectively partying that maybe someone can save her from the confusion of partial sanitization. "Above" represents her longing to return to the surface. "Awake" represents how even though she's awake, she doesn't feel alive. #13, Shade, represents how dark sanitization and Kamabo Co. really are. It's a warning for those unsuspecting. #14, Crush, represents how she's constantly crushed by Commander Tartar and his ideals, with songwriting being her only escape. (The final vocals we hear before it loops is her in my headcanon.) #16, Salty, is basically her telling Commander Tartar that he's "just being salty". Alternatively, because 16 is double of 8, I'd like to think that the songs are connected and are representative of how Dedf1sh would feel if she had any emotion left. In this case, she would be "salty" towards Tartar, essentially giving him a musical middle finger. For #19, Bless, she's basically just saying that the test subjects are blessed to still have their free will. That's just my personal theory, though. Edit: For Splattack, that was probably just a remix she had in her backlog. For the escape missions, it could be her emulating the atmosphere of Kamabo Co.
Its been a while since ive thought of splatoon lore so im probably forgetting things disproving this theory, but what if dedf1sh made the splattack octo version when agent 8 and 3 were fighting and she was watching from a distance or something. seeing the 2 of them fight reminded her of turf wars and the song splattack came to mind as it always played during turf wars, so she remade the song (also the alarms in certain parts could be hinting at something big happening in the background, aka the agent 3 v 8 fight). i know theres like a 99% chance of me being completely wrong, but it would be cool if our storyline and hers lined up a lot more than we thought it did.
