I test my pump before every job, and always start with clean vacuum pump oil. I remember once after a vacuum on a van that I flushed the vehicle A/C system with solvent and blew dry nitrogen through to aid drying/evaporating the lines. It took 5 oil changes after testing the pump the next day before a new job. so would run pump a few mins after each change to get it pulling down into the low microns again! Micron gauge straight to pump after flush was 480 micron on a pump that is capable of 15 microns so after 5 changes was back down to 16 microns. Oil quality makes a massive difference.
I use mine for auto A/C and have to change the oil multiple times after a system flush to get it to keep pulling deep, due to contamination. Makes a massive difference 👊👊
I change my oil religiously. When working on large commercial systems and time management is uber important....dont let something like oil drag out the process. We work on large chillers and pulling a vacuum is a time consuming process.
Can you use oil left over in unused bottles with caps still on? I have several leftover partials and I’m always inclined to not use since they are opened. The little plastic caps are on but does the oil pick up atmospheric moisture?
@darwinawardcommittee i wouldn't. Once its used. It goes in the disposal tank to be taken somewhere. That oil gets moisture laden and decreases its efficiency
Did anyone else notice, that the hot swap caused the microns to skyrocket. Not to mention I wonder how much wear that causes to the pump. I like the design but it looks like the TEZ 8 has a smaller footprint.
Yes I did notice but to be honest this was down to 11 microns when u really need 500 , at a 1000 or 800 you won't lose that much, I did try it and notice the i almost lost nothing at 800 microns , I did try on 25 microns and it shoots up to 380 and went down to below 35 quick in seconds , BUT talking about wear and tear I think keeping a fresh oil will keep it healthy, the reason for the vacume loosing a vacume and hearing a noise when draining the oil is that ur taking that wall ( seal) away which is the oil and the sound is simply that very thin oil wall left flapping between the pump housing walls , but of course heat will cause damage if you run it for a very long time with low or used oil, fraction/contamination, one thing I hate about field piece is that ur pump needs to be almost 100% level for a good vacume, other brands I try it won't make any difference.
@@LaythYounis Good to know. But if hot swapping is going to introduce air into the system they should really tell you to isolate it first - if that's the case why not shut it off while you do the swap. I can just imagine the poor tech who spills the new container of oil and runs to the van with the pump running dry. It's a gimmick that we don't need. Appion had this over a decade ago and I always shut the pump down and isolated. Most hot swap systems have a tube that runs to the bottom of the container so oil level doesn't matter. The other day I dropped my yellow jacket out of the van on the ground and I said thank goodness I didn't buy a plastic field piece. To each there own, looks nice but do you really need it?
@supermrt so far it's the fastest, talking about isolation , field piece is a newer unit , other brands is out there and field piece can't do much due to copyrights,, but the damn thing is really fast and lasts a very long time. I don't want to say brand names but I try good amount of pumps, they fail , starting from 10-30 min to 3-4 hours , plus field piece offers getting ur pump rebuilt for like $265 I think just incase ur unit failed u can bring it back to life.
@@LaythYounis Thats good to know, however do they sell the parts to rebuild the pump yourself? I have 6 yellow jacket pumps 2 of them are from the 80's and still pulling sub 25 microns. The gasket sets are hard to find but I still have a few. Everyone wants to make up buck off service, and keep things proprietary. Sometimes the old stuff is the best. I most def will be waiting to see if I have to buy anything special for A2L's before switching to different pumps.
@supermrt that's I'm not sure about Yello jacket parts, fieldpiece dose has parts but very limited, and oh I agree about that a2l's I keep seeing the class flyers on supply houses but im in texsas its getting very busy , no time. I don't like r410a anyway r 22 much better, well see those new ones. Lots of customers will be SUPER pissed.
This whole time I would switch it to pull through the ballast, drain my oil, add then switch it to pull through the oil. Now seeing it from Fieldpiece themselves Im not doing that anymore
Fieldpiece Rules! I’ve been using this same vacuum pump for 2 years now. No issues and works Great! A Must Have
FIELDPIECE products are awesome.
Good video, Pro tip that's a good way to test your micron gauge by placing directly on the pump!

Just got this pump a couple weeks ago. LOVE IT!

This is because car air conditioning systems use medium and low temperature refrigerants, such as R-134a
Great design, thanks for the demo.
Nice demo guys 👍🏽

Great vacuum pump & products by fieldpiece 💪
Awesome!! As always !

Very niece sir ji 😘🇮🇳🙏
Great demo it’s not hard to change your oil. It takes like four seconds.
I just got one I love it
Needs a check valve
Mine is very slow
Now if only the helpers out there will replace it regularly 😫
A guy I worked with had one , it lasted a week
