Hay guys this is the 3 bar map sensor I used. rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com.au%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F192405663185 This makes the ecu think you are only running half the boost you actually are running and gets around the factory boost limp mode at 14.5psi. 🍻👌🏽
Hi James here from the UK , I have done many mods on my beast ( 3" dump pipe and full exhaust , hi flow mamba turbo, large front mounted intercooler ) . Tried MAP bleed to compliment boost bleed valve with slight results but have always been looking for a 3 bar MAP sensor I could just plug in. Bough the one in this video and WOW I'm boost bled to 17psi in my prado absolutely flies, previously I managed about 12psi. I can't believe the difference it must really compliment my mods which have been hindered due to the standard MAP sensor . My prado is huge with 10" lift on 37"tires so if I feel like its flying in the cab , god knows what it looks like as a pedestrian. A massive thanks for the info on the MAP mod and link , I'm over the moon.
How goods the shed though?? Some pretty fine electrical work in there 😜 Solid numbers man, look forward to seeing how she goes with some weight behind it!
Superb! Thanks for sharing the knowledge. An easy mod with such high gains! Just bought one of these trucks after coming from a 2.4L TD common rail and am a bit gutted with it's uphill driving and towing efforts. Hopefully following your lead I can improve the situation! So thank you! Couple of questions: how has these changes affected your fuel economy? and is that map sensor a straight plug and play modification or do I need to get some tuning done afterwards? Also I love the addition of the fan on the intercooler. Can you please tell us more about that? Or share a link to where you learned about it from? Cheers mate, much appreciated :D
Hi Sam no worries mate. Yeh they are pretty slow especially towing. Every bit of power helps! Fuel economy is the same for me mate. Sitting at 4.1 ton all up with the camper we get around 15-17l per 100. Personally I think that’s pretty good fully loaded. Unloaded without the roof rack it uses around 11.5-12.5l per 100. The 90s run quite rich from the factory so winding up to 18 psi you don’t need a tune. It also lowers the EGTs. I’ll be getting a uni chip installed and tuned soon. They are the best as they can change timings as well. You do need to make sure your cooling system and injectors are good. If these engines get really hot the are renowned for cracking heads whether in standard form or not. Personally I don’t think the intercooler fan is worth it. I installed a 10 inch one but it was slightly too big and hit the bonnet. I’ve since removed it. If you want to add a fan I’d look for an 8 inch one. I wired it up to come on with the ignition. Thanks for commenting Sam🍻🍻🍻
@@bushandbeachaustralia Cool, that is all good to know! Cheers for the info! That's interesting about the cooling fan. I would have thought that was a good touch - even just for improved air flow around the engine/turbo. I would probably install it with a relay and manual on/off switch (use it for towing heavy loads or on hot days). I was thinking down the lines of adding a bonnet scoop and the fan underneath. Do you think that design is worth it? We get multiple days over 40 deg C in Adelaide through January/February and I live up in the hills at the top of the SE Freeway which is about 7-8km of uphill driving. It's a real killer in the summer months! I need to make sure I can pull my 1800kg caravan or other loads for work up there without cooking the truck haha Thanks again for answering my questions :)
No worries mate yep I know that hill well. I wouldn’t bother to be honest. The airflow from driving is plenty. As long as the factory plastic scoops are still there to direct the air into the bonnet. The gains with the fan are at slow speed ie low range crawling when the airflow is minimal. Make sure you have an EGT guage and drive to it. Watch it on the hill. I don’t let mine get over 500 degrees. If it creeps up I drop down a gear or back off.
Really want this sensor, Im an overseas KZJ95W owner. But No luck, I’ve asked the guy called Mark from that eBay link, it seems like they don’t ship international.
Thanks mate for this and for all the videos. Love to see what you've done with your 90 and the reasonable reasons you make your mods. Just to check if I understood properly this altered map sensor outputs half the actual reading or caps the top value? If it's the first wouldn't it be throwing off all the ECU fuel to air ratio off all over the curve? Really keen on doing this just trying to understand the implications. Have you modified the volume of fuel? Is the consumption still the same? Thank heaps and owe you a beer whenever we cross paths!
Hi Martin it half’s the actual reading the ECU sees. It does throw of the fuel to air ratio but they are quite a rich tune from factory. Winding up to 18psi leans them out leading to cooler egts. The volume of fuel is modified by my dp chip. A lot of people are running 18 with no chip and are getting good results. Cheers mate definitely keen on that beer! 🍻🍻🍻
@@bushandbeachaustralia Thanks for clarifying that! I will see how it goes when the 3 bar MAF arrives. Meanwhile polished both manifolds and removed and cleaned de EGR gunk and installed a EGT probe so I'm a bit more prepared to crank it up a bit. ECU cuts me quite early at 11is PSI as it is. Probably dump pipe and exhaust will follow to help with EGT too. If you are ever down in the land of the long white cloud you can definitely get a local brew. Else I night roam OZ sometime! 🍻🍻🍻

Good morning! I hardwired mine. I used an ignition wire to power it. I think an 8inch fan would fit better. Mine was too big
@@bushandbeachaustralia I thank you very much, for the answer, in Galicia the 90 series did not sell much and there are no parts or information. I try to get more suspension tours especially at the rank, and I repaired it 3 times with 285/75 r16 maxxi tires 772.gut day
