    I think it’s fair to say that it’s a given that most blasters will jam when using crummy darts. So for the most part, the dominator mags are working pretty well. Very happy to see that

  • @locke348

    I think I mentioned it before but the battery stock from foam technician (or if you can make one yourself) would be a good idea for the battery issue, and a lot of people already mentioned different variations of pusher arms so I won't beat a dead horse. I think once people in the community create higher quality versions of the worker cage for the dominator things will also improve.(being that there are specific dimensions for the first of the three cages, hopefully someone can make a better one.)

    As a possible fix for the feeding issues, would a slightly wider pusher "tooth" pick up the darts that are that little bit too far to one side?

    Since this can take up to three flywheel cages, when can we expect a video on required voltages, batteries, and motor setups? I recently ordered my dominator with six of their 130-ish sized motors for a proof of concept and I want to make sure it gets the proper battery / mosfet setup.

    • @Daniel_B79
      @Daniel_B79 5 років тому +3

      I wouldn't use 6 of any one kind of motor. With multi staged blasters the RPMs need to increase at each stage.

    • @shadowwarrior97
      @shadowwarrior97 5 років тому +1

      i'm thinking stage 1 meishels/fang revamps (2s), stage 2 honey badgers (2s), stage 3 fang revamps (3s overvolted)

    • @mattmccoy1014
      @mattmccoy1014 5 років тому

      I would run the whole thing off a hefty 3s and just have the third stage overvolted. Something like rhinos, m2’s, and honey badgers. Rhinos on 3s are only like 33k rpm, m2’s are almost 50k on 3s, and honey badgers are pushing 65k on 3s. No idea about the longevity of the m2’s and honey badgers on 3s, i would keep the crush low on those stages. If you want even more power do something like valkyries in a 43 for the first stage instead of rhinos in a stock cage.

    • @maxniederman9411
      @maxniederman9411 5 років тому

      I would say that the following would work well: meishel 2.0s on 2s, krakens/new-rhinos on 3s (they’re pretty much the same motor, Fang revampeds/titan cronus overvolted on 3s. Stages 2 and 3 could possibly be run on the same lipo, but it would need an extremely high discharge rate.

    • @Atlasworkinprogress
      @Atlasworkinprogress 5 років тому +1

      @@Daniel_B79 NO NO NO NO NO. You do this you will rip darts to shreds due to the imbalance in speed. You want to pick the highest RPM and run those same motors in all stages. A 3 Stage 3S Wolverine setup or a 4S Neo Hellcat setup would probably net the highest overall FPS with high crush cages.

  • @DrX427
    @DrX427 5 років тому +2

    I guess one way to work around the feed issues in the last test would be having a wider (if possible) pusher head? Just slightly wider so it's able to pick up the back of the dart on either side of the expanded mag.

    A blunt triangular tipped pusher rod might over come the mix dart load conundrum. Pretty sweet though. Double stacked mags require a wider bolt carrier, AK owner😈, but that might be a potential solution.

    The issue I had with my sword fish pusher was just the return spring not being quite strong enough. I shortened mine so that it retracted properly

  • @mechwira
    @mechwira 5 років тому +3

    I assembled a swordfish full-auto, and I have the same "runaway firing" problem you mentioned, specifically at high firing speeds.
    As the dart pusher is being pulled back by the spring, it encounters some kind of resistance at just before it makes contact with the dart pusher switch. If you open it up and use your fingers to 'follow' the pusher as it moves back (with the auto-gear turned away to not make contact), you can actually feel this resistance. At high firing rates, this mysterious resistance causes the pusher to slow down its motion, such that the auto-gear makes contact with the pusher teeth before it moves fully back to activate the switch. Hence the cycle continues endlessly, with the pusher never making it back to activate its switch before the auto-gear contacts and pushes it forward again.
    I have no idea whats causing the resistance. I thought it was the bottom of the auto-gear casing rubbing against the top of the pusher, but i've tried lube and sanding whatever I could think of, and the resistance is still there. So my swordfish is only capable of low to mid firing rates, but high firing rates always cause the 'runaway firing'. Rather disappointed to be honest.

    I've seen a double stacked mag before but it was a one off thing, this is really cool though

  • @greenmedic88
    @greenmedic88 5 років тому +2

    I think the problem may be an easy fix if the pusher is failing to feed darts that are slightly out of position. The pusher head design needs to be remodeled wider, which is a relatively quick, single afternoon model in software. There shouldn't be any double feed issues with a larger pusher head unless the darts being used are really stepped on. Can't say for sure without having one on the work bench to examine directly.
    Worst case scenario: redesign the flywheel cage feed ramp with left and right skewed channels to accept darts from either position. This is how double stack box fed rifles typically feed.
    It's unfortunate, but as is, looks like the 40 round double stack magazines simply won't fly for game play with community or scavenged darts. BYOD and plenty of extras. But, odds are the only people using these at games will be competitive players who use their own single type darts and color and immediately cycle out damaged darts in between rounds after pick up.

    • @greenmedic88
      @greenmedic88 5 років тому

      I'd have to take a close look at the pusher and how it interfaces with the feed lips, that I noticed are wider apart than standard single stack mags. I'm also making the assumption that the top feeding dart has no more than 50% overlap with the next dart underneath with the double stack supported by two walls on either side. But, I am comparing foam tubes to brass cases, which clearly have different tolerances and characteristics.

    So watching these vids I keep coming back to the proton pack, and I think As a massive ballhose blaster, its great, but another thought, Think about, the ammo guy, large 'proton pack' but instead of a blaster at the end of the hose, it's just a nozzle with trigger/lever/whatever, that turns on the feeding mechanism, for like a rival ammo guy build. able to top off other players dump pouches of bawlz, or directly refuel, prometheus/nemesis users. Of course, making the whole proton pack, the nozzle refueler end, should be removable to have it attach into a zeuse or ahatever else to regain its normal proton pack useage... anyway dont mind me, 5am ramblings. :D

    Many have asked the question, canted single set up vs normal single set up which is more accurate--- reason---
    Because its the first contact made by the dart yet still has a barrel to encounter.

    Double stacked drum mag when?

    • @nathantalisien4284
      @nathantalisien4284 5 років тому

      If you mean to double current drum capacity- so, 50-70 rounds- like this does for standard darts, then probably never... Not for darts, at least; maybe for Rival rounds.
      In order to double-stack a drum with that kind of capacity, the spring strength needed to feed the darts would crush the back end of said darts. It would probably require a winder-and-latch system like some Real Steel drum magazines do... If you don't, having a spring strong enough to properly feed all those darts will make the drum spew the darts all over as soon as you finish loading it, without some kind of retention mevhanism- which puts MORE pressure on the darts.
      Rival balls are much sturdier, though. It should be fully possible to build a spiralling drum magazine that holds upwards of 50 Rival rounds, without being much bigger than a 35 round dart drum. Compared to darts, Rival rounds crush less; the spring could be stronger without causing damage. Rival rounds feed easier, too, so they wouldn't necessarily NEED a much stronger spring... The shape is a huge plus, and there's no drag from rubber tips to cause friction.
