They should sell a $20 kit that comes with a specially shaped container, 50 rival rounds, and a 12 round mag and it should be called the, "Rapid reload and refill kit"
I thought for sure this was common knowledge. We have a 27 gallon tote basically full for our wars in Cincinnati and had been doing this for a while. Glad you are getting the info out since it turned out not to be common knowledge.
You have a beautiful daughter and she is extremely intelligent as well. I never thought of that. You should let her design the next blaster. I bet she would make the best one ever. The best thing is she is having fun and helping her daddy too. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Wow I'm going to consider getting my 6 year old sister to load my mags. It's cute that your daughter loads your mags for you:) as always great video keep up the great work
Reminds me of speedloaders for airsoft, just kind of in the opposite direction(mashing the mag into the hopper instead of a ramrod mashing balls into the mag)
Howdy Luke, when I visited DEFCON 1 Games, in the San Diego area, they had big Garbage Cans 🗑 full of Rival Balls and this (the method you’re daughter discovered) is how they’d use to load up their Rival Magazines. Pretty quick and efficient.
The "Hazel Method" I love it, your daughter is adorable! I get the feeling this is the first of many stellar ideas Hazel will bring to the world of Nerf. I can't wait to see her first blaster design.
I'm kinda surprised you only figured this out now - I thought it was more common knowledge. Even the big tub, if you have enough layers/enough balls it can work. at Foam Fest we had a big tub of HIR's and I loaded my mags like this. Having a kid do it for you is next level though :D
Haha! That's adorable! Bless you sir and your family :) I appreciate that you have such positive energy to you, and it shows in your presentation. As far as that technique goes, its ingeniously simple, and definitely worth being looked into. The fact that is came from a child, in a way proves that we as adults, sometimes over complicate things. A narrow container full of rival rounds might just be the best way to speed load rival magazines. Great video, thanks again.
Idea: Gravity-fed magazine refill station. Instead of the using a lid on the proton pack, use a large funnel. Tube at the end of the funnel makes the rounds single-file, which connects to a column that can holds the rounds vertically. The column has a large diameter opening so it fits a Rival magazine. Insert magazine into column and boom...loaded magazine. The column refills automatically because gravity and won't over fill because the last round loaded in the column will block more rounds from the connecting tube from coming in. Bonus feature: Have slits in the refill column so you can adjust for 5/6/7/12/18-round magazines ;) Obviously not going to carry around a massive magazine refill station on the battlefield (or maybe you can if you minimize it somehow...). I am thinking of using this more for 5v5 where the player has to go back to respawn and refill their magazines.
I bet you could 3d print a mag speed loader that is wider than the magazine but has thin walls so the opening is big enough to fit maybe 1 to 1 1/2 balls. Just either pour or scoop the balls into the loader and just push down. When I do eventually get a rival magazine (and enough balls) I think some testing is in order.
use a PVC pipe and put it above the magazine, fill the pipe with rounds and then take a stick and push down, just like a airsoft loading tube. Correct me if im wrong as i do not nerf.
I've seen plastic containers meant to hold breakfast cereal which are relatively tall and thin, and which have a hole covered by a flip open flap. These would seem ideal for an application like this especially for people who either don't have that many balls, or who don't want to damage the structural integrity of the lid by cutting a hole in it. The only thing is the hole is only really big enough for one magazine at a time but at least you are almost guaranteed to have no spillages.
this changes everything this will make it viable to run a dump box and less mags on your person and you can just churn your butter(what im calling this technique) whenever yur mags are low. amazing for hvz and honestly speed rivals that of front loadin/drum based blasters.
I had a back-of-the-mind idea that this would work. Most of my rounds are stored in either my nemesis' hopper or in a thrift store satchel bag that was meant for a fifteen inch laptop. BTW, I like a larger satchel bag meant to hold a seventeen inch laptop and a very large notebook. I know it's not as efficient as actual tac gear like a chest rig, but the larger bag hang comfortably on my hip and can probably fit twelve 18 stick mags with ease, and it only cost me $5; in my opinion, this is a great option for beginners or those of us that are having trouble finding gear that will fit.
I have rewatched like every video of Luke's aka out of darts... And have always wanted to buy a Jupiter.... My wife said if I could get 100 likes I could get one!
yeah i accidentally figured something like that out one time while i was loading my hera mags and it is pretty quick but i didnt have a container like that
Freeze Been doing the "Hazel" method for three years plus. Now I know what to call it. The Rival league in Texas uses 5 gallon buckets. Be careful using thin walled containers. Folks reload so fast they push the mag to the bottom of the container and that can break the container.
Nerf should sell a $20 kit that comes with a specially shaped container like yours, 50 rival rounds, and a 12 round mag and it should be called the, "Rapid reload and refill kit"
Saw the dude at your table at FoamCon last week using this technique to load the mags for the demo blasters... think he called it “making an omelette”... either-way, quick and easy!
I legitimately thought this was common knowledge, many of the guys in my nerf group have been doing this with 5 gallon buckets since the zues and apollo were the only rival blasters. Ps if you want a cheap and efficient version of this get a 5 gallon bucket and a lid, fill the bucket during your dart sweep, then put the lid on.(drill holes in the perimeter of the lid just slightly bigger than the magazine). It makes a quick and easy magazine loading station for events.
There has got to be a way to do this with a piston. You know those aluminum can crushers? Like that but it shoves a ball into the mag. Have a hopper feed the piston, a motor to drive it, and that's it.
How about this for an idea.. Cylindrical bucket/barrel to hold the balls in, with a revolver reloader style rack to hold the Rival mags, and used in a plunging motion into the ball bin to speed load them?.
Cannot speak for certain, but I believe they are the Prusa I3 MK3, and Amazon will be your friend in finding all things 3DPrinter. A cheaper option is the AdimLab Gantry, which I own and couldn't be happier with.
Hey out of darts if you Want to feed a rival hopper you can pull back the little notch on the magazine in the balls will fly out feeding your hopper instead of using painful pods, but I mean either one works
OoD Wow kids rock. Thanks for sharing something your child figured out with us. Great tip you rock thanks for the great videos. I am definitely trying this.
Not to downplay your discovery, great video BTW, but loading rival this way was super obvious to me as it is the same way that the airsoft cheapo 'stick' speedloaders function. It was basically a straw with a retention mechanism at the bottom that you would stab into a container of bb's until it was full.

I miss clicked and accidentally hit dislike but I changed it
6 mags / 16 secs is ~ 2.67 secs per magazine. You're loading your mags faster than you might change it whilst playing on the battlefield!
Lol
Still not as fast as throwing 100 grenades in bf1
I want to like it but I can't
not with a Jupiter it's not. with a Jupiter, you'll be done 6 mags in 6 seconds
"16 month old invents new technique for loading rival mags almost three times faster than any current method" I LOVE OUR HOBBY!

Man I didnt know that a 16-Month old baby figured out the new way to load a rival mag before anyone else did. Bravo 🤝👏👏👏👏
And I'm right, he said 16 old month baby, also can be said as a 1yr and 4 month old child.

That's a lot of rival ammo. Poor people like me have maybe fifty balls on total... they're about a buck a ball (in Oz).

The other brands sold on amazon don't fit.
What about a Pringles can for if you dont have a lot of ammo?

Nerf should sell a $20 kit that comes with a specially shaped container like yours, 50 rival rounds, and a 12 round mag and it should be called the, "Rapid reload and refill kit"
im going to try this with some pringle Cans, we use them as ammo pickups in the house with the kid lol
Another way of how babies and small infants show us that creativity is always the answer
someone gotta make like a custom ammo crate where you just shove in a mazine for a full reload
This is revolutionary. It will transcend post and pre game magazine loading as we know it !
Such a simple idea, trust a child to figure it out. Kids are great arent they. Love it Luke.
Saw the dude at your table at FoamCon last week using this technique to load the mags for the demo blasters... think he called it “making an omelette”... either-way, quick and easy!
