This "as seen on TV" can opener is supposed to open can automatically and shut off. It does open some cans, but refuses to open others, at least in my experience.
I have been using one for about 5 years and I change the Batteries about once a year. The older it gets the better it works. I like mine and will buy another one.
I am pet sitting this week-end at someone's house, and couldn't find a can opener to open a can of dog food. I looked through all of the drawers then finally found this thing. What the hey? I honestly couldn't figure out how to use it! I even changed the batteries figuring that was the problem. That's when I decided to see if someone made a you tube video on this product. Thanks for the great 6:00 AM chuckle. Yes, the dogs got to eat. No, I'm never going to buy one of these things, but I can see how it could come in handy for another person.
I love mine. I've had it for close to 20 years. Looks like you got a cheaper one, a knock-off. The one by Grip Mate with the N on the button is the best one. It takes a while, but not that long. It does eat batteries. Mine cuts the lid uniformly, so no jagged edges.
Thanks for such a honest review I was 100% gona buy this product first but thought il jst see review first an thank god I did! I’m not buying it anymore!
Be very careful to check the can before you pour the contents of the can into a pot or bowl.! Great can opener but I have been finding metal shavings in my food and metal fibers sticking to cut side of can! I did notify the company on 2/17/2106.
BEWARE ! This can opener has a mode of failure that is very hard to figure out. There is a small stainless steel lever that presses against the can allowing the opener motor to start until the timing gears have gone through a complete cycle then the motor is turned off. This timing cycle is set for larger circumference cans. That is why this can opener keeps running when used on a smaller can. The problem with my can opener is that little stainless steel switch lever fell off making it so the motor would never start. This mode of failure could be prevented if their engineers would have only used a different switch lever design that was bent in a dog leg pattern on the unhinged end & hooked under the plastic body of the battery cover. Gonna send this one back !! 🤬🤬
I have one of these and I hate it. I have weak hands and getting to the batteries is very difficult. And those batteries seem to go out when I need it most.
Some people here must be using crappy batteries. Mine opened countless cans since I can't remember. The problem I have now is that I have a hell of a problem getting the lid off the opener after it's detached.
Seems to me like a test of the piss-poor quality batteries you've got (tested new or whatever). My one of these (looks identical) is nice and quick, when the batteries are charged. I have very little strength & hugely reduced dexterity in my hands and arms, and opening cans is impossible for me - seriously, it's pitiful to watch me try. This wonderful little gadget has been serving me well, since I got it, in 2009 - yes, that's 8 years & still going strong. I use rechargeable Duracells.
Weird. Mine works well. No sharp edge. It slices the lid ridge in half. Lid comes off with the opener 19/20 times. Very fast and only changed batteries twice in the year I’ve had it. Mine has a green button but it’s the same One Touch product
You probably got a newer model. This video was made 9 years ago n the engineering has improved. My one touch can opener works great as well n fast without any sharp edges
My tin opener exactly like this is no more working. When I opened the inside of the machine to check, all plastic wheels came out and could place back in its place. I just want to see the wheels arrangement inside so that I can fix it according to it. Can any one show me how the wheels sits in its own pins? As a result, I cannot cover back also.
So has anyone else noticed that the Alpo can has a popper? Therefore, no need for the One Touch! Also, isn't it strange that the dog food is cheaper than the human food?
i should have watched the review first. I bought this model and it is a piece of garbage. That is EXACTLY what happens with new batteries and it did not lift the lid. Yes it never shuts off!!!
Are you kidding me!? Cut the BS and get to the advertised purpose of the video. I'm a New Yorker, so I have a right to say this. A guy like this is why we have a lousy reputation. Damned narcissist!
Mine does t work AT ALL but can we get to the real issue here... man is feeding his friends fuckin dog food 🤮 you know many dog/cat food manufacturers use meat humans can’t eat, deemed unsafe, so past their best before dates, been left out of cold storage too long etc etc. I can only hope you were kidding!
You a funny guy. Let me guess, your friends are werewolves and love the Alpo dog eats. Or maybe some of the friends are dementia victims who asks for it by name and you do what your asked and dish it up. lol Anyway, that two battery job is under powered since the original toucan uses 4 batteries but works just as crappy. So, do you recommend saving our money by not buying this junk.

Which AA size let me know

Thank you very much for your review.
I almost bought this can opener.
You just saved me from a never ending compliant :)
lol i was so close to buy this too xD and this guy is hilarious
It hesitated because the magnet midway on the underside needs to sense the metal. The first can had a price tag interfering with the magnet.
Thanks for such a honest review I was 100% gona buy this product first but thought il jst see review first an thank god I did! I’m not buying it anymore!
Thank you so much for this opener video!!!!!!!!!!!!
"What was that, 3 minutes to open a can?"
I like this but you can't open the part that you put the batteries in
Be very careful to check the can before you pour the contents of the can into a pot or bowl.! Great can opener but I have been finding metal shavings in my food and metal fibers sticking to cut side of can! I did notify the company on 2/17/2106.

I bought one of these and it has not been able to open anything as yet. Useless. Back to the hand held opener for me.
Real tutorial start at 01:56.
This old git loves to waste our time.
I just got one of these, I had to turn the can over and it worked like magic.I think sometimes the rim/top of the can is just too thick for grip.
Great video, just saved me money :)
That phrase"As seen on TV' is a warning sign that the product is a POS!
I have one of these and I hate it. I have weak hands and getting to the batteries is very difficult. And those batteries seem to go out when I need it most.
This is total crap! I have one of this myself. It's a total waste of money.
is this an advert for del monte fruit etc etc or a demo for a can opener?
I have to hold the button down on mine. For some reason it doesn't work on its own anymore. In fact, it stopped after the second use. 😢
The one in the uk is amazing no exaggeration
Some people here must be using crappy batteries. Mine opened countless cans since I can't remember. The problem I have now is that I have a hell of a problem getting the lid off the opener after it's detached.
Lmao 😂 i cant believe the dog food
Dog food cannot be guaranteed to be processed under the same hygienic conditions that human food is processed.

You probably got a newer model. This video was made 9 years ago n the engineering has improved. My one touch can opener works great as well n fast without any sharp edges
Mine works, but it refuses to "automatically stop" I have to try & yank the can top off of the one touch.
I'm thinking about throwing it as far as I can, lol
My tin opener exactly like this is no more working. When I opened the inside of the machine to check, all plastic wheels came out and could place back in its place. Actually it's getting the damn can opener to stop there's no remote control
Mine works perfect
What happened to the Sound on the Video?
so it cuts the side instead of the lid?
So has anyone else noticed that the Alpo can has a popper? Therefore, no need for the One Touch! Also, isn't it strange that the dog food is cheaper than the human food?

Wow what age we live in
well that saved me buying that load of.....
gimme some of dem ALPO, prime slices woof! woof!
only works a few times if youre lucky!
Totally garbage in my opinion. Hard to get battery case off and would not open canned beans. Go figure.
How you can sell such a MISTAKE - Money - hope YOU are luckey
Useless on smaller diameter cans
You what mate.

Oh my God, I so miss my roach. I had one of these years ago. I guess China got their hands on this and ruined it.
not worth a crap, it's hard to use
Mine does t work AT ALL but can we get to the real issue here... man is feeding his friends fuckin dog food 🤮 you know many dog/cat food manufacturers use meat humans can’t eat, deemed unsafe, so past their best before dates, been left out of cold storage too long etc etc. I can only hope you were kidding!
doing it manualy is more faster
Sadly, I only have the use of one hand so that option isn't open to me.
hi
Wow!
what junk
