A VW Jetta 1.4L 150 HP "S" came into my life 5 years back - - - - - and now - at 60,000 on the odometer - I've yet to have an issue.
Additionally - in about 70 City/30 Highway driving - I'm averaging 40 MPG.
Regardless of purchase criteria - be it cost, reliability - fun to drive - et cetera - ad nauseam - - - - IMHO this is a fine choice!!

I own a 2017 Jetta S, even though the 1.4t does not have crazy performance, but I love it around city, plus the rev from the EA211 engine is of one the best sounding compare to other 4 cylinder engine.
