unfortunately lockstep glitches occasionally (it's a recording issue) and OBS just refused to fix itself. if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix it let me know!

@@magicianstuff yeah initially I wanted to only use games with 3 or more characters but that ended up being a bit limiting. I thought I'd let it slide since I felt the games with only two characters that I did use (catchy tune, see-saw and DJ school) still fit the song and the "vibe", and the whole idea of having fun with friends. Oh and there's also ringside which was mainly included for the "pose for the fans!" Voice line to go along with the "pose for the camera" in the original song

Amazing! I know that Ringside technically does count, but the random 'pose for the fans' is always welcome xD I do think a couple areas could be improved, specifically I think the Clappy Trio segments like the opening are skirting around a very clear 3 beat motif that would be great for them.

This is definitely something I struggle with for most my remixes. I actually think this remix is less guilty of inflating the minigame count since I personally think every game here actually fits the "vibe/theme" of the song but I completely understand where you're coming from. I'm assuming you may be referring to the sequence switching back and forth between space dance and tap trial? I agree that the game selection is pretty excessive though the song is quite repetitive anyway so I thought adding more games would keep things interesting. Glad you still liked it, your feedback is appreciated!
@@kaojbI personally love having as many minigames in a remix as possible, it's really just a preference so don't feel like you necessarily have to change that in your remixes

to fix lockstep you'd have to crank the bitrate in obs, basically how much data you can record per second, as it has the most change between frame of any minigame

As far as I'm aware, lockstep is absolutely brutal to record in almost any widespread format. So unless you have an absolute beast of a GPU it's not surprising it struggles to keep good video quality
Yeah I recently learned I can increase the bitrate in OBS to fix the issue and my PC seems to be fine with it

the lockstep glitchiness in recording is down to the game just being horrific on video compression (since the entire screen changes like every second)

i love the remix and the song choice, but i do wanna give some constructive criticism. lockstep (and other games with constant rhythm) is a hard game to transition out of, and i see it a lot where it's an abrupt transition into a game where you need to not press. shown at 0:22 into clappy trio, and at 1:28 into dj school. if you don't want to transition into a game where you need constant rhythm up keep either establish a constant that every lockstep transition will end at a specific point, like in remix 6 ds. which every offbeat call transitioning into a new game after the first offbeat note, this is only broken for the last time lockstep shows up in that remix. you could also use sound cues for the next game if they have a distinct enough call, idk if HS has the means to use visual cues like in remix 10 ds from sh'mup to lockstep with the dude's head
alternatively you can "end" the minigame. either with the actual end, or a slightly longer black screen to buffer and tell the player to stop pressing buttons. the idea of stopping needs to be conveyed to the player instead of just a smash cut "hey, hey hope you read my mind and knew to stop pressing." it makes an aspect of the game go from keeping up with the different rhythms to needing to memorize when these cuts are and to seemingly arbitrarily stop pressing.
This is something I realised while play testing and was also brought to my attention in the Heaven Studio Discord. This was my first time using lockstep in a remix and I agree that transitioning out was too abrupt here. I actually did check remix 10 DS and found that lockstep went straight into fanclub (while still in the offbeat state) and so I just decided to let it be since I thought that if an official remix had an abrupt transition, I could get away with it in this fanmade one. I definitely intend to make transitions more intuitive for future remixes tho. Playability is something I'm still improving on.
The shoot'em up transition into lockstep in remix 10 DS is actually one of my favourite transitions in the series, specifically because of the visual cue. HS doesn't have the capability to create that kind of visual cue in vanilla but you can mod the program to have custom textures which I intend to do for future remixes.

@@kaojb ey no probs, i actually just perfected it lmao, it was fun and you made it easy to remember the transitions. 4 beats after switching from off to on for the 1st, then 8 for the second, the third one i just had to remember on 2nd switch. i had more trouble with space soccer cause i'm not used to the button controlled version of it.
i think remix 10 gets away with it by just having lockstep do swap in almost every instance of it being in a remix it at the offbeat switch, with 8 being the only one that doesn't do it at all, but it gets it's switch emphasized with extra cymbals on the two beats before the switch. plus 8 goes into freeze frame which i dont think penalizes you for pressing randomly before a car is approaching
