wait, that would've been a steal! Basically $100 for an AP a year! I don't even care about the custom bricks. Damn, where's the alternate timeline where this happens? I need to time travel to it.
I don't remember the guys name now, but when I was in high school working in MK I met the guy who built and controlled Push. Saw his workshop and stuff... Super cool. I'm getting all nostalgic now!
Seems like an easy sell, 2500 for 25 years? Though I find what really drives up the price of Disney (Limiting my trips to once or twice a year as someone who is not a Florida native) is hotel costs at the resort.
Yeah... I think I wouldn't be the target audience for this pass. It's obviously a steal if you'd like to go to Disney World several times a year for a large chunk of the rest of your life, and especially if you live nearby, so that park admission is your main cost rather than hotel rooms and plane tickets. Even so, you'd need to have the cash on hand.
...but for me, while I love watching these theme-park videos, I think part of my fascination with WDW comes from the fact that I *don't* go there all the time. A visit every few years is fine--I have limited vacation time and there's a world of other places to go. If I went several times a year I'd probably actually get sick of the place.
Then you learn to stay at a dumpy inn a little farther down the street from the local Hilton. Sorry, but it's true. There's a couple that used to do roller coaster reviews and someone asked them where the freak they get the money to go on all those trips: the husband said the wife is VERY very lenient. They'll save the money for the travel and never ever do they go to even a 3-star hotel. They go to the uber-cheap ones no matter what city: Brussels, London, Paris. That's how they have money left over to go to the next amusement park in a month or two. One works from home frequently and they admit they have VERY few personal items in their house: no big screen HD TV, no fancy desk with a leather chair, not even a Playstation 3 console. The wife doesn't even buy purses or shoes. All the money goes into their UA-cam videos and trips. That makes a lot of sense to me. IF you never (I guess that's the key word: never) splurge on even small luxuries, you can afford all those trips. And yes, my dad knows a guy who is a bit like that. Although divorced, his two daughters are just like this couple. They live in Mexico and are a little wealthy but they still are frugal. When they want to take a quick vacation in Texas, they take ONE suitcase with a day's worth of clothes (they wash them at a public laundromat). Why? It physically AND psychologically reduces the mentality to overspend. Sure, they'll hit the Galleria shopping center and Stonebriar in Grapevine but the daughters stop shopping once the suitcase is full. I admit that's clever. His kids are mentally conditioned to shut off their spending habits when they see that the suitcase is full instead of just buying another suitcase to take home. But I also admit that this is rare. I know my cousins would never be able to control their spending like that! And yes, I have learned from that family. I pack little in my suitcase but I make sure my backpack is nearly full. I'll even stuff some clothes in it if necessary. I ask my parents for their smallest suitcase and pack the rest in there. When the suitcase is full, I put my wallet away and won't spend another buck. Even if it's a tiny item like a souvenir keychain.
But that's not the same as wanting to go to Tokyo Disneysea and then going to Disneyland Shanghai right after, and then going back to just regular Disneyland in a span of a year or so
ShootStyleZombie I would tell you to become a member of Club 33 and you would see the amazing perks and benefits it offers but sadly its not going to happen for many. Membership has been in my family since before I was born so I am fortunate to have one but I do wish that more people were able to get their chance at a membership because, it is something to experience for sure.
Aaahh, the infamous pink birthday cake overlay. I remember being there in ‘97 during spring break when I was in college . It was as unattractive in person as it was in picture or video.
If you only saw it as your “once in a lifetime” visit, or only a few visits, it was bad and I can understand people’s disappointment. But we go every year, and from that perspective it was an interesting way to celebrate 25 so I liked it.
Seems like a good deal...but unfortunately disneyland gets old after visiting there too much over the years...-it all comes screaming back to you even when you haven't been for a while...l know this because I live 11 miles away...and the magic gets seriously tarnished by it...still gotta love walking down Main Street...timeless!!😗😛😘
I remember when I first started getting my “seasonal” pass when I was 18 back in 1992. It was like $110. Back then that was a lot of money for me. Probably no way I could have afforded the $2500.
JW, I believe you. I still have the ticket stub from the second tiem I went, which was around 1990 or 1991 and a THREE day pass was less than $120! The prices are so steep now that I'll never go again. It's not worth the money after spending hundreds per person on flights, meals, hotel rooms, car rentals, etc. I haven't been to Disney World in nearly 12 years. And the last time I went was during the so-called slow season and it was PACKED. I wasted over half the day just standing in line and could only get 2 FastPasses. They were out of them long before 11 am! That's when I decided to never go again.
I absolutely would have purchased that pass! What I really would love is a pass that allowed entry to all Disney parks worldwide. Why have they not offered that? Thanks as always Rob, you are awesome!
That’s an interesting idea. Sort of like the DVC of annual passes. We’ve had annual passes for 21 years now so that 25-year pass would’ve been a steal! As a DVC member, it would be nice to have park access that matched our DVC contract length. If they still gave free APs to DVC members like they did in the early years, it wouldn’t be an issue, of course.
I did some research into it, but I don't know if there's enough there for a whole video yet. As for getting them, they stopped selling them quite a while ago unfortunately.
Disney should have an annual pass to every park they own at a good price. The ski industry does it to ski resorts. They make significant revenue from pass sales. Also having one pass that gives you access to every park intices you to travel to the parks. When you travel to the parks you have to pay for hotels, food, parking and disney gets there money.
Chris Baker no, thats why I said even though I was 10, but if I had the money at the time I would have! My parents could have easily afford it, if it was available back then. Thanks 👍🏽
hey Rob.. I've asked this question before but really have never gotten an understandable answer from anyone. You might be the one to actually give me an answer. The question is in regards to PhotoPass. I just don't understand the point. Family A goes to Disney. They encounter PhotoPass photographers all over the place. They have the photographers take pictures of them with different characters and in front of different landmarks. The photographers each give them a little card that tells them to go online to see their pictures. If they want the pictures, they can then go and purchase them. Family B. goes to Disney. They purchase a photo pass. They encounter PhotoPass photographers all over the park, and they have them take pictures of the family with various characters and in front of various landmarks. The photographer's remind them that they can go online to view the photographs and then purchase them separately. Okay... What is the benefit that you are getting if you give Disney more money? And then to add insult to injury... There's Memory Maker? I think Memory Maker might give you all of the pictures automatically, and that might be worth it if you go and get your picture taken often. But I don't understand what the point of PhotoPass is if you get the same benefit without paying extra.
So PhotoPass itself isn't a product or package you buy. It's just the name of the overall program. Memory Maker is the big package that you can buy at any point (before, during or after the trip). What that does is gives the guests unlimited downloads of digital photos, as well as some ride videos, character dining photos, and discounts on physical prints. So using the family A and B example, if Family A opts out of buying Memory Maker, then they're paying $17 per photo download. Family B get unlimited downloads of all the photos taken during their trip. Additionally if Family B decides to buy prints of the photos, they'd get a discounted price where family A wouldn't. Essentially the moment Family A would want to download over 10 photos from their trip, it becomes more economical for them to buy the Memory Maker. Similar to the dining plan, the memory maker program is pretty much there for people who want to simplify the whole process and are willing to pay the extra cost to have that aspect of the vacation "covered".
Rob Plays thanks. I thought PhotoPass was something in addition that you had to pay for it and I couldn't understand because I got the same thing if I didn't pay
No problem! Also worth noting that all the Photopass photographers will happily take a photo with your own camera if you ask. So in a lot of cases you can get the same photo without having to pay anything.
Rob, do you have any idea on how much money Disney makes in a day? Or how much money they make in a week or how much they make in a year? I went recently and obviously knew it would be expensive but not as expensive as it was so I’m just curious as to how much money they make. Thanks!
What was the price of say 5 or 6 day tickets back then? Just wondering if this would have been a cheap way to get tickets for those that already come yearly for a week.
An adult 5 hopper that year would have been $196. So similarly even if we assumed the prices wouldn't go up over that 25 years, this pass would have saved you $2,400 over the 25 year period.
Rob, I'd never assume prices will stay put. I think that over 25 years, if they made such a pass, it would save nowhere even near $2,000 over that time frame. I will not be surprised one bit if one day prices hit $300 per ticket. Just wait and see. Unlike other places, Disney never ever has to worry about supply and demand. In fact, from what I read on vacation boards, Disney World is even more crowded than ever before despite having the steepest ticket prices I've seen in 15 years!
It's likely that they will do something interesting like that for the 50th. Would you do something like $20k for a 50 year non-transferable pass? Especially if it came with perks?
100% would pay $6,400 for a 25 YEAR pass. I’ll be honest, though...sounds kind of similar to Disney Vacation Club, just for the annual pass instead of the hotel.
Darkness, it is true. Someone on a message board once posted that they were shocked to see a guest show a ticket she had never seen before and they waved the person through without hesitation. She asked the agent what that was and was told it was a lifetime pass. So yes, it does exist although extremely rare.
It's a good thing they didn't do it. For them. Things like that usually end up being use losses for the company. I don't even live close to any Disney park (I'm from Canada) but I'd consider buying it. After all in 25 years I'll be 45, I could spend a week at Disney every year and I don't think I'd loose money.
Strangely enough I actually went to Disneyland the first time as an adult about 25 years ago, and it cost about $35 for admission, oh Disney... granted they only had one park at the time, but still, it wasn't that much more expensive than a ticket to any generic amusement park.
Oh boy, don't need to tell me. I don't go very often at all, usually many years between, and it was probably a good 15+ years since that first $35 ticket for me. Talk about sticker shock, yeah I made more money than I did way back when, and yeah I could afford to do more (like eat more than a single churro a day :D) but still doesn't take away how predictably the prices go up at Disneyland every year, faster than inflation. Sad thing is I wonder when I'll be priced out of Disneyland, there will be a day when it simply will not be worth the money even if I could afford it. (I know sacrilegious talk around here).
It would’ve been nice if they did have that at least for someone who travels enough to go to all the parks. I’m sure if they add this type of pass now it would be much more than $2500
This is like when american airlines issues unlimited flight passes for first a few hundred thousand, then a few million. And the few takers really caused a huge problem for AA. Disney dodged a bullet by not going with this idea, if AA's experience shows the trend for these expensive, but ultimately lossy styles of passes.
I think it's simple: they wanted more money so they cancel the pass and raise ticket prices. Their greed is part of the reason I quit going. There was a time when you could get a 3-day hopper pass for under $110. Note that I said $110 for three days, NOT $110 PER day! Go to the website and select that same ticket. $370. Just greedy. Even if we account for 20% inflation, that's still almost $300.
Knowing now what I know... if Disney offered the passes for $25,000 for 25 years of access to all parks current and future today I would JUMP on that... Disney is nothing if not a money grubby handed company any more. They treat DVC members like second hand guest and whittled away at all the perks that use to come with that. (I now tell all my friends to buy DVC on the secondary market and get an Annual Pass ...its not as good as the real thing but pretty dang close and for A LOT LESS) And I HIGHLY expect that with the way Disney has raised the cost of park tickets in the insane way it has to cover cost from Shanghai to only knows what else... they will continue to do so. A $25,000 bite to my wallet today saves me from GOD only knows what increase over the next 25 years.
Honestly I just got bored with making video game videos. I found the history videos to be more fulfilling as a project, and they seemed to be enjoyed by more, so one day I decided to focus on one direction rather than a mix of the two and just went back to playing games for fun.
$6,500 for 25yrs of WDW magic? i might have to up my DVC points, but I'd do it in a heartbeat ... If I had $13k laying around because my wife would kill me if I only got one for me & forgot about her.
Ninja Master it's not true because then people would want there baby to be born in Disney World. But babies have been born at Disney before but they didn't get anything
Although since Disneyworld is its own District their birth certificate would say they were born in the Disney owbed District of Reedy Creek Improvement District
I believe so I don't know I've never been to Disney World and definitely don't want a reason to find out what the medical centre is called. but you are probably right
If they were limited to 2500 passes then they would probably be sold out within the hour if they went on sale today. There are quite a few giga-rich Disney fans who would drop stupid amounts of money for the prestige of having this pass.
Hey rob i subscribed and notification squad i love your channel. But hey anyone that looks at this then keep watching this guy and check out matterhorn matt love you rob
You got me with the Customized Red Brick
I was in that giant marching band on Main St that you showed a couple times!
wait, that would've been a steal! Basically $100 for an AP a year! I don't even care about the custom bricks. Damn, where's the alternate timeline where this happens? I need to time travel to it.
You'll need to find a man named Dr. Emmit Brown. Word on the street is he built a time machine out of a DeLorean.
Maybe in the alternate time line, Hercules and Hunchback would be major hits and still be in the parks..
JohnEuropa ok I'm packing my bags for real now. Hunchback World here I come!
IvyWinter if I had 6400 dollars I would pay 6400
Including inflation it would have been around $168 dollars today which is still a steal.
Wow! I would have totally bought that pass!
Could you please do a video of the history of Push the Talking Trash Can?
I think he's included in videos from TPMvids and Defunctland
I don't remember the guys name now, but when I was in high school working in MK I met the guy who built and controlled Push. Saw his workshop and stuff... Super cool. I'm getting all nostalgic now!

They should make a Disney pass where it gives you access to all Disney parks around the world
Right? Save up plane fare to Japan and go to Disney sea once a year
I fear to see how much that pass would've cost.
Yet someone would probably shell it out
But that's not the same as wanting to go to Tokyo Disneysea and then going to Disneyland Shanghai right after, and then going back to just regular Disneyland in a span of a year or so

Those few B roll seconds of the Hunchback musical sent me down to memory lane and made me slightly emotional.
Awesome as always thanks Rob.
I can never add your videos to my watch later. I MUST WATCH IMMEDIATELY
Love this channel, you really make the historical and financially aspects of the park so interesting. Thanks for the content!
Aaahh, the infamous pink birthday cake overlay. I remember being there in ‘97 during spring break when I was in college . It was as unattractive in person as it was in picture or video.
I actually enjoyed it when I saw it
It is seriously UGLY!
If you only saw it as your “once in a lifetime” visit, or only a few visits, it was bad and I can understand people’s disappointment. But we go every year, and from that perspective it was an interesting way to celebrate 25 so I liked it.
Yes, please!! 25 years of Annual Passes for $2500 - wow!!
That hunchback show was phenomenal!!
Seems like a good deal...but unfortunately disneyland gets old after visiting there too much over the years...-it all comes screaming back to you even when you haven't been for a while...l know this because I live 11 miles away...and the magic gets seriously tarnished by it...still gotta love walking down Main Street...timeless!!😗😛😘

another interesting video Rob..thanks!
I visit WDW and DLR every year, so I have the Premiere Pass. It keeps going up; it is currently $1600. Ouch. 🤤
I would have been in for that. Thanks, never heard of this offer.
I absolutely would have purchased that pass! What I really would love is a pass that allowed entry to all Disney parks worldwide. Why have they not offered that? Thanks as always Rob, you are awesome!

I love those tiki coasters!
I'd buy that in a heartbeat
great info Rob thanks !! ... have you ever done a vid on the Bricks? are they still selling them? I wondered about these when I was there last month.
I did some research into it, but I don't know if there's enough there for a whole video yet. As for getting them, they stopped selling them quite a while ago unfortunately.
If I lived in the central FL area, I definitely would have bought that.
Raymond Meyers even without living there it’s still a bargain even if u only go like a few times a year
I was there in ‘96 for the pink castle. It was ugly yes but I couldn’t care less. I still had a blast.
Would it include Extra Magic Hours + Waterparks?
I want that pass!
What are your thoughts on the announcement of the parking fees at Disney resorts?
Can you do a video about why The Carousel Of Progress is in Tomorrowland in Disney World, it seems out of place, is there a reason?
How awesome would that be. Go to any park.
I would have bought it even though I was only 10 in 96 lol I still would have 3 years left to use.
Did you have $2,500 to spend at 10 years old?
Chris Baker no, thats why I said even though I was 10, but if I had the money at the time I would have! My parents could have easily afford it, if it was available back then. Thanks 👍🏽
Yes
If they did this for the 25th anniversary, what do you think they would do for the 50th anniversary?
But I don't understand what the point of PhotoPass is if you get the same benefit without paying extra.

Could you do a video of what you think is the scariest ride at Walt Disney world?
Great video again. What do you think of this new parking thing? And yes I would pay that. lol
100% would pay $6,400 for a 25 YEAR pass. I’ll be honest, though...sounds kind of similar to Disney Vacation Club, just for the annual pass instead of the hotel.
Yup. No doubt I would....if I knew that prices would be so jacked up today.
What's the name of the background music? I can't find it anywhere
It's called Salty Breeze and is part of Epidemic's sound library.
Rob Plays Is it free to use? I guess so since you and one other person used it
It comes with a subscription to Epidemic Sound, which is a music library service. The subscription for UA-cam channels starts at around $15 a month
Rob Plays Ok, thanks
Rob, is there any truth to the Lifetime pass that was supposedly given out to one person at Disneyland and Disneyworld?
Yeah there have been a few lifetime passes given out for special occasions over years. Not so much anymore, but they're out there.
Darkness, it is true. Someone on a message board once posted that they were shocked to see a guest show a ticket she had never seen before and they waved the person through without hesitation. She asked the agent what that was and was told it was a lifetime pass. So yes, it does exist although extremely rare.
You and DSNY newscast should do a collab I’m sure it would do well
will the disneyland bricks ever come back?
They never went away
sorry i mean can we buy then again or in the 75 mart(2030)
I know a person that as a kid his father bought a brick in his name hes 40 now and he still has a lifetime pass being alowed in free each year.
Disgusting.
It's a good thing they didn't do it. For them. Things like that usually end up being use losses for the company. I don't even live close to any Disney park (I'm from Canada) but I'd consider buying it. After all in 25 years I'll be 45, I could spend a week at Disney every year and I don't think I'd loose money.
that would have been rad to use the words of the 90's
That's a waaaay better deal than my annual pass.
I’d have gone for it. You’d only have to go once a year to make it pay for itself. Hey! Excellent excuse to go every year, long weekend trip!
I would love to buy the pass
My 6 year old daughter is hopelessly crushing on Rob
John Gable why would you say this
Strangely enough I actually went to Disneyland the first time as an adult about 25 years ago, and it cost about $35 for admission, oh Disney... granted they only had one park at the time, but still, it wasn't that much more expensive than a ticket to any generic amusement park.

Shiittttttt!!!! I would have paid....I live in NJ but to have something like that and a cheap.Florida flight I'd go like 5 or 6 times a year
Cinderella's Castle? Rob, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
When I get my tax returns I will check it out. Thanks Rob
Hell yea I would spend 10 grand on Disney passes for 100 years of Disney park days.
That actually would have been a really good deal!
It would’ve been nice if they did have that at least for someone who travels enough to go to all the parks. I’m sure if they add this type of pass now it would be much more than $2500
You are absolutely right!
Back when Disney first opened they had lifetime passes
I think it's simple: they wanted more money so they cancel the pass and raise ticket prices. Their greed is part of the reason I quit going. There was a time when you could get a 3-day hopper pass for under $110. Note that I said $110 for three days, NOT $110 PER day! Go to the website and select that same ticket. $370. Just greedy. Even if we account for 20% inflation, that's still almost $300.
Apparently when I was little my mom got a shit ton of bricks with my name on it. I fear how much that cost
I think they could sell 7500 $7,500 passes for 25 years.
also, do you have a video that's just the Parks' ambient noise? Cheers.
If you're interested in Disneyland ambient audio, check out soundsofdisneyland.com. It has a ton, though I'm not sure if it's completely up-to-dated.
Bruh! I’d buy that
Wait...WHAT IF THEY DID THIS FOR THE 50TH? I sure would pay a stupid amount lmfao.
Rob u should play Mc magic aka palace ᑎETᗯOᖇK again they changed the password it’s play.palace.network I hope u play it again 🙂
What if there is an annual pass that guest can enter all 6 Disneyland around the world. That would be fantastic.😍😍
Yes and pricey!
There's one, it's the Golden Pass, only a select few has it.
oOoOOoo
This is advertised?
What is?
The video says it had advertising in it.
Oh. Yup. Ye Olde Proppe Shoppe sponsored the video.
Ohok
You remind me of Damien from Mean Girls
So unlimited admission from 1996 to 2021, even on blackout days? You know it is Cinderella Caste, right? There is no " 's ".
The park would be flooded with people
$2500 >.> thats it... now of days its Disney Platinum Plus Pass is just over $1000 year...
If that pass really happened it would still be active today.
I would sign me up I’ll take 4
Simple: someone told the accountants and they all had a heart attack.
LOL this!
I'd love to buy that pass.
but even then it's expensive as fuck
I would rather have the Disney Premier Passport!
So what ever happened to the “Plays” part of your channel? I subbed when you made this after the Minecraft Let’s Play years ago on the other channel.
Honestly I just got bored with making video game videos. I found the history videos to be more fulfilling as a project, and they seemed to be enjoyed by more, so one day I decided to focus on one direction rather than a mix of the two and just went back to playing games for fun.
Hi
Us Disney fans and locals would have amortized the cost of that pass by 2006
$6,500 for 25yrs of WDW magic? i might have to up my DVC points, but I'd do it in a heartbeat ... If I had $13k laying around because my wife would kill me if I only got one for me & forgot about her.
Rob....the question is, "Would YOU have purchased a ticket?"
Honestly, yeah probably. Between the 25 years of access and the brick and the letter from Roy and Eisner, it'd be hard for me to say no.
I would if i had money.
Wait what the hell...
You don't have any other topic without Disney...
Ya. It's a Disney history channel.
i would buy this even thoug im from norway lulxd
I guess you could say it didn’t pass on.
boy they really screwed the pooch on the 50th anniversary
2 months after this video and they are now attempting to out bid disney to get rights to fox property first...
I would’ve bought it if I had money haha
My family used to say that if a baby was born in Disney world, that person would have a lifetime pass.
Is this myth? Was it ever true?
Ninja Master it's not true because then people would want there baby to be born in Disney World. But babies have been born at Disney before but they didn't get anything
Although since Disneyworld is its own District their birth certificate would say they were born in the Disney owbed District of Reedy Creek Improvement District
Jesse Thiessen isn't reedy their medical center on grounds?
I believe so I don't know I've never been to Disney World and definitely don't want a reason to find out what the medical centre is called. but you are probably right
If they were limited to 2500 passes then they would probably be sold out within the hour if they went on sale today. There are quite a few giga-rich Disney fans who would drop stupid amounts of money for the prestige of having this pass.
Hey rob i subscribed and notification squad i love your channel. But hey anyone that looks at this then keep watching this guy and check out matterhorn matt love you rob
I WOULD TOTALLY BUY THAT I LOVE DISNEY
/ well the 2,500$ one not the 64,somthing
Disney Corp has become too elitist.
Just to cheap, should have cost maybe 5,000
I’d buy it in a second. I’d buy a lifetime pass for $10K,$20K, u name it.
