Even more than 100g protein would be good. Closer to 250g is optimal given your muscle usage/demands… an animal based high protein high meat and eggs diet is optimum for health and performance…. All the fears about meat are old and outdated.

Dietitian here… it’s all dependent on body weight. The dude weighs probably 130lbs so 250 is overkill. Endurance athletes should be focused on getting far more carbs, 400-700g daily depending on body wt

@@dlow2492 doctor here… I think he is closer to 160… and it depends on how much muscle breakdown is occurring…. Carbs certainly yes… carbs help fuel recovery by replenishing muscle glycogen and carbs help fuel efforts especially at higher paces at threshold efforts/anerobic efforts… But protein is important in muscle synthesis and repair… the body “senses” 20g protein leucine boluses and that triggers muscle synthesis and muscle lay down… carbs don’t do this. While carbs help fuel efforts they can be thought of like gasoline for your car… protein is needed for other reasons like actually *building* and *upgrading* the car… and it’s best to have too much protein vs not enough… and it should be taken in bolus form when allowed so that the body “sees” the 20+ g presentation needed to trigger synthesis. 1.3-1.7 g per lb body weight is a good range. And if he is running 100 miles a week that is a LOT of muscle destruction

@@thepatternforms859 lol “doctor” you know that means you’ve had what like 2hrs of nutrition education in your program? You also don’t know how much elite marathoners weigh. This guy is not 160lbs hahahaha. Josh Kerr weighs 155-160lbs as stated in interviews. And just go Google protein requirements for marathoners and you’ll find endless research and nutrition professionals stating no more than 1g of body weight for protein is necessary. Send me 1 article saying a runner should eat 1.3-1.7g of protein per pound
