Summer Schedule
Our schedule may vary, but expect a new video every Wednesday. Friday, and Sunday at 11AM Central!
How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a UA-cam channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin.
Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like.
These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.
Love Hannah, she's a great asset in helping you out , along with rocket can't forget him lol
Thanks for the vid Ryan and nice to see Hannah..
Ryan Hannah is a real good daughter you have hope that gets Hannah a laugh
That’s a nice drill. Kuhn makes nice implements in my opinion. Great video bud take care
Adam Poirier until you got a 45 ft VT that the customer wants all new discs and bearings on by Saturday and it’s Thursday morning and the nuts are torqued to 1400 ft lbs. then Kuhn is not good
I really love your video because I learn lot's about farming and Ryan and Hannah make me laugh!😄😄😄
Around the 12 miin mark, The view of tractor and planter going by the pond was picture perfect.
Hey Ryan!! Hey Hannah!! Hey Rocket!!
Hey Darrin!
Hannah has learned so much from you all!
Great video and Hannah!!
Tractors should come standard with 2 seats. Awesome work Hannah!
Grandpa always said you could get more seeds in a curved row than a straight one.
DumbOhioFarmboy amen!
Grandpa was a smart man.
Nice to see hannah helping out 🚜🚜🚜🚜👍👍
it looks like fun driving the tractor
I love your videos.
Ryan I'm glad to see that you're not planting oats this year. Ryegrass is instant hay, and your cows will love it.
Nice to see the Kuhn seeder! Because of you and Tractor Time with Tim I decided on buying a rhino 10 foot brush hog
Hope you enjoy it!
nice seeding Hannah well done
Never realized Hannah had such long hair. Pretty cool, I like it
You too are great keep it up love to see you too together
Hi Ryan just want to wish you and Hannah the best of Irish luck! ☘️ ye look very happy.
Has she a family farm as well?
John Byrne yes I do! We have all sorts of animals and do crops as well. Not too farm from the Kuster’s!
Hannah Smith wow that’s great! Ye will take over Wisconsin.. just get rid of travis and ye will be sorted!! 😉
By the way I think you should be called Rapunzel..
Christ you’re hair is long. My wife and one of my daughters had long hair before to cut it short but nothing like that.. it must drive you crazy.
Also you guys together have added a great new dynamic to the types of UA-cam farming channels, it’s really fun and still gives the same learning experience Ryan and travis have always shown us. Thank you guys for everything you do.
I love thw HFW channel!! Much love from PA!
nice vid, thx and grts from belgium
To much rain around here. Safe planting to you all down there.
Amazing
I farm in Ontario Canada. Got a tank full of dyed diesel the other day. 47 cents per litre plus 4 cents a litre carbon tax plus 13% sales tax. Working up ground now for soybeans in a couple of weeks. Not going to be the same this year I lost my older brother on Feb 21. We’ve farmed together since we were kids. Enjoy those times with your brother and your dad life is short.
Paul Hudson. Sorry to hear this. Keep his memory close. Life is indeed short
By the thumbnail I thought you guys were getting ready to crash LOL
Great video as normal.Hannah is a keeper Ryan 🇮🇪
Ryan have you tried the old style harrows the ones horse drawn with square pegs
Hannah really cute with the head band its a good look.
Good drone video. Love the music. That’s a lot of math to figure that machine out.
Love the dog 🐕 ❤️
Yes, I have an old john Deere's fb17 hole and I have to run the culimulcher twice to pack it down otherwise the seed is planted to deep
Good video Ryan always awesome drone footage ! Daniel from central Mississippi
Dads know best Ryan lol
Ryan, great to see you teaching Hannah how to do things on the farm and she seems to enjoy it. You are figuring out the Kuhn seed drill. I wish you all the best.
5:50 that little tiny marker arm 😂🤣
Could have gone 300 ft. front of tractor to front of tractor as screen indicated verses front of seeder to front of seeder. 300 ft. either way. My smart ass remark for the day. Thank God for apps and smart phones! And Hannah!!
Well, it's nice to see that you're trying to learn the young Ms. Hanna the finer points of seed planting. Straighten that girl out or else she's gonna be out of line and you can't let that start so early or there will be a price to pay if you know what I mean. Does she handle a vehicle on the highway with the same amount of concentration as she does in the field? Well, it's great that you two have finally come out of the closet with your relationship, about time you faced the truth and I for one am so happy for you two youngins you both will have so much fun as you go on with your lives. Congrats to the both of yous!! R.
Heavy frame, but also durable? It seems like the seed drill has a very high center of gravity especially when lifted.
One thing I've noticed with this drill is how close the rear wheels are... do you worry about it tipping on some of those slopes?
It looks like the center of gravity is high on that seeder but it's not. Remember, all of the heavy iron is near the bottom of the machine.
It sure squeks alot!
Ryan here in Maffra, Victoria, Australia we pay $1.09 a litre, which works out to $4.12 a U S gallon. 99 cents a gallon works out to 26 cents a litre ! One has to take in that $1.54 Au $ to $1.00 U S $ when comparing cost.
Curved rows are longer, so who cares? 🤣
As always, great video👍
Hannah don't feel bad, learned how to drive on a B Farmall! heightens your reactions cross-corn cultivating two row wire- checked corn! Might have to ask someone over 70 to explain wire- checked corn!
You might have to keep testing these in the spring, lol
Good stuff people, look after that woman Ryan, she's a good un, stay safe:):)
You forgot the "e".
@@dimduk Haha, we smaller, don't deserve it:):)
Is hanna the same one that came and help you out in the Valley. Great video once again here from Wales
Gruff Jenkins yep!
Ok 👍
When using online converters don't do what I did when setting our fertilizer spreader we still tend to work in units per acre and hundred weight an acre. On a couple of our pastures that needed a little top up we put a cwt to an acre of 33.5%AN (33.5 units of N an acre), when converting it as our spreader works in kilos per hectare I did not check the vet had a (UK) after it. Our hundred weight is bigger (125kg/ha) compared to the hundred weight US (112kg/ha).
Hello have you landed the drone on top of the tractor
i saw your 630 disk on craigslist
Great video
Thanks!
😄 we just found a jd no till for sale locally for $10,000. Still out of my price range 😭 hey, it'd be cool to see a 1 acre field split into no till, till, drop seeder and broadcast seeder for grass and see the difference 😁
But would the horses notice? LOL
@@MatthewHoag77 horse dont care, eat shit sleep
Hello my brother I love your videos
Don't feel bad about gas prices. Unleaded here in Northern California is still $2.69 a gallon.
It a 1.30 a gallon in south Carolina
Same in NY. The actual gas is about a buck, the rest is NY tax...
Ryan you and Hannah having fun together you and Hannah have a couple things in common like farming and everything deal with farming
18:30 this is why *everyone* needs the metric system
nice video ryan
Does Hannah also help out a lot on her family farm? She must be busy bouncing between the two farms
She stays at home during the week. They rent their farms out so there's not as much to do.
Nice Video
Why don’t you use the wheelman to get your lines?
Wish gas was that cheap here in NC
How many hours are on th 7600

Safe comment
80 cents a litre - $3 a gallon in Ontario Canada, I'd be happy paying $1.49 a gallon.
$ 1.49 a/gal here in Nw Iowa seems like we're always the highest in the state of Iowa. Atleast you won't go hungry or thirsty in the tractor anymore Ryan.
$ 2.92 Seattle wa
What happened to Jamie? Was a long distance thing not gonna work or something else happen?
Do you have the ability to read the comments beforehand or is it pure laziness that you're unable to read the comments first?
assman clearly looking for details...
When are you guys going to star putting corn and soybeans in the ground?
Ryan, you'll make a great farm girl out of Hannah real soon. After an unsure start, she is doing great. You may end up losing your job.
What does the single front wheel do?
Hey Hannah, don't pay much attention to what Ryan is saying. He's kidding you most all of time, of course you know that! :) Sometime you will have to take the do rag off and let us see your hair. I'm sure it looks good and please don't take offense. :)
jbmbanter haha night just have to sometime
That seems SO narrow - that normal for a drill?
What size tires are on the 7400?
Why do you plant alfalfa instead of rye grass? In England we just have rye
The mix in this video was 50% rye and other grasses like Timothy
What a guy, Ryan. Making Hannah get out and walk while you drive the 76 in comfort and style. Yep, she's definitely still the intern (no offense intended, that's just how it goes). Where in relation to the other farms is this 40 that needed seeding? I only ask because it has never been mentioned on your channel prior to this year's seeding season. Let's hope all the seeding takes this time!
It's kind of across from the farm I live on. It's hidden on a backroad, we have been renting out the works on it for the last few years but the guy who had it sold his cows.
@@HowFarmsWork Okay. I'm pretty sure I know which one. Online plat maps are very helpful sometimes.
I'm just guessing but that looked like VersaGrass from LaCrosse
What's the purpose for the arms that reach out to the left or right?
David Kaufmann If you put the middle line of the tractors nose on the line made by the side markers you have the middle line of the seeder and you don’t waste time or seed. You’re not gonna do parts double or miss parts. It’s a easy way to work accurate without GPS and/or autosteer.
It's a row marker.
Talk about the perfect Couple, You two are a Kick together. By the way, Hannah is going to make one hell of a Farm girl.
The dog
For everyone who is going to ask, yes Hannah is Ryan's girlfriend. He has said this many times! He broke things off with Jamie a while back! She moved to Alaska to start a clothing distribution trucking company!
I didn’t hear she moved to Alaska but I guess we haven’t talked so maybe!
@@HowFarmsWork I heard she joined a band of BBQ ninja's and runs a hibachi bar in Hokaido!
Good for her. To bad I liked her.
That’s funny shit! Last I checked her Instagram page she was working for Disney in Orlando. She likes playing with Mice! But that clothing distribution deal is a great story, so funny!
Be careful and don’t turn that top heavy drill over 👍
You missed a spot. LOL
What has happened to Jamie? Has hanna taken her place?
Are you to lazy to read the comments to find something out before commenting?
I am a farmer from the country of Morocco, is it welcome?
Welcome. تربية الماشية والزراعة
That drill looks super well-constructed and efficient. However, the marker arms appear to be Chinese plastic praying mantis.
Like the video!!
Thanks!!
My dad always told me you can get more seed in a crooked row than straight rows
1.49 a gallon when the others are paying .99 cents a gallon something not right, wouldn't hurt to call governor's office that's what he's there for to help. I would think he or she would be more than happy to help the farms that are feeding this country.
@How Farms Work 10:33 to 13:36
romantic moments
hehe
$1.79 unleaded in Pennsylvania
245÷16? 16oz = 1 lbs. And I'm 62. Want me to convert it to binary or hexadecimal?
No just Troy ounces will be fine. LOL That's Millennials for yah! LOL
Weres jaime Ryan??
We broke up six months ago.
99cents a gallon??? That is SO CHEAP! We pay £1.15p per litre at the moment for road use diesel (White) so that works out at £5.12 oer gallon or about $6.00 a gallon. You guys in the USA have it great! Our red diesel or low tax diesel is about two thirds cheaper than our road diesel
It froze at the end on my TV
No views but 3 comments? What the?
Ryan’s 27 and Hannah’s only 17
$1.49 a gallon??? 99c a gallon??? Here I'm $1.24 a liter (approx 1/4 gallon).
I bought green desisal in ireland for 39 cent a litre
What up with the blond hair

Since Hannah is your new girlfriend and Cole the Cornstar has a girlfriend in Nave I think you two should arrange a double date
