I want to partake in research regarding my area of interest. However, I have no experience and I just recently graduated. How can I convince researchers to consider my application for a research assistant position?
Thank you for your question. It's not an uncommon situation. You can start by emailing professors in the department you would like to join as a researcher. Whether you are still a student or a graduate, explain in your email that you want to volunteer in the lab and state clearly that you want to gain research experience. Without experience, a paying research position is almost impossible to get. Start as a volunteer and see where it takes you. Hi Samira! Thanks for your question. You can begin by asking them what your day-to-day duties and responsibilities would be. What they personally like the most about the research they are doing. You can ask them what they enjoy and what they find challenging about their work.

Hello Khwildaz! Thanks for your question. You can certainly apply to this position even without direct research experience. Your cover letter and resume should highlight your qualities that would make you a great addition to the research team, such as attention to detail, multitasking, strong communication skills and so on.
