  • This CJ7 was my dads first new car. He bought it off the lot in 83 and kept it until 2011 when he asked me if I wanted it as my first car. We then spent over two years doing a full restoration.

I did a 1982, don't you have issues with the spare tire carrier? I left mine off as another rebuilder guy told me the weight of the tire eventually breaks the body apart. I'm planning to buy an after market one with better configuration.

Great work.. subj showed 79 CJ but you mentioned 83? Where are you at by the way? I'm in Texas. Working on a 79 now. Who did the metal work on the body to replace the rusted part?

Thanks! Florida. It’s an 83. The tub was too shot to fix so we put a new steel tub on. The fenders, grill, and hood were rust free. We had a local shop paint it

@@wardwrenching thanks. Where did you get your steel tub from? I've looked at the ones from Morris but they're out of the ones with the licensed jeep logo and they want 5k for them.

@@celticcraps Mine was from Morris, but it was back in 2012 when I bought the Tub. Honestly if I did it again in this day and age, I would try to find a donor tub out of Nevada or some dry state. Facebook groups and eBay might be a good place to start.

@@wardwrenching hey there. Too late.. I looked a bit but ended up getting the tub from a Morris with the jeep logo. Lucked out they had a few that I didn't have to wait. What were the challenges you had with the Morris tub? Let me know so I know what to expect. Thanks bud. Jim

Be prepared to cut out holes for various items. I had the tub sprayed with bed liner before I put the carpet on.
