      You need at least an 18 foot bowrider or bass boat with a reinforced transom.

    The big thing these companys are missing are impeller access, They need to make it so you can change the impeller from up top near the cowling. I forget which outboard company you did a review on (They were new kid on the block so to speak) but you could change the impeller just like i mentioned which i thought was genius.

      @@enigma9789 ya but outboards are where the feature is for a vast majority of boats 35 feet and less. Nobody wants an I/O anymore, take up too much deck space, cant lift it out of the water so they become barnacle machines, better for shallow water, easy to untangle a line if one gets caught in the prop, no 8-10 inch hole cut in the transom, can flush/ rinse the motors/ lower unit in while the boat is in the water.

    • @davidperry4013
      @davidperry4013 4 роки тому

      M A You can do it as long as the transom is strong enough and there is enough buoyancy to handle the engine. I plan on building an 18 foot 6 inch carbon fiber bowrider that can effectively utilize that big outboard with 45 degree full height transom trusses with flotation foam in the cavities so I can have a 100+ mph boat.

    425 and 450 out of a 5.6 liter is premium gas for sure and direct injection has its own inherent issues with carbon build on valves, unless they have found a way to deal with that.

      I had twin Yamaha 150 ox66 on my previous boat. Extremely unreliable. As I say, Yamaha's slogan should be Unreliability starts here. With Helm master EX from Yamaha, I don't like the fact that you don't need to put the key in the ignition in order to start it and that you only need to enter a password if you really want. I HIGHLY recommend 350 Verados. I just bought a brand new pair three months ago to repower my 2005 Boston Whaler 305 Conquest a few months ago. Best engines ever. Lightweight, extremely powerful, and extremely reliable. I go to the boat and all I do is turn the key and I know that I'm going fishing. My buddy's boat, a brand new 2020 Fountain 38 CC with trip 400 Verados, are his favorite motor too. He had Verados in the past, owned a couple of Gradys with Yamahas, and switched back to mercury powered boats. He didn't regret his decision one bit. My mechanic said that they're the best 4 stroke outboard ever made. He's a dealer for Yamaha and Mercury and thats his favorite engine. He bought one used for his 24' Mako and he loves his.

      @@andrewj9155 ill put it to ya this way, I'd rather have a clapped out old v4 looper johnnyrude than any newer Yamaha, ask any marine tech (like I am) and you'll get the same answer, yamahas have horrible corrosion issues and atrocious tech/customer support even if your a dealer..I know because I worked for a very large dealer for a while. I currently work at a marina that services over 170 boats full service between only 4 techs and many more transient customers to add to that, hands down Yamahas have more issues than any other outboard at our shop usually always corrosion,fuel system issues, and trim/tilt cyl. gland failures. That's coming from a former yamaha fanboy haha

    • @andrewj9155
      @andrewj9155 4 роки тому

      I wouldn't know about corrosion issues because I fish freshwater lakes. The reason they're heavier is because it's naturally aspirated compared to a Merc with a supercharger. I've owned both and and around here, yamaha is far superior.

    • @canceledczech457
      @canceledczech457 4 роки тому

      @@andrewj9155 fresh water does make a big difference, but the new mercs 4stroke comes in up to a 250 v6 and weighs just over 500lbs..the new v8s up to 400 hp weigh under 600lbs and both naturally aspirated, they also offer the new "verado" which is the new v6/v8 on the AMS mid section and the 400r/450r are the only ones that are now supercharged.
