    A friend of mine proposed that instead of the penalties they're considering for future updates for quitters they get branded instead. Like instead of your profile reading "side swiper, respectful, overwhelming" or something you get a "S+ quitter" tag instead. And not only that will not go away that easily but quitting against players with that tag will have no penalty. Basically, give them public shaming.

    • @mc_zittrer8793
      @mc_zittrer8793 6 місяців тому +5

      Quitters have no shame, though. They throw themselves into a *competitive* setting and only seek the personal gain of their rank in every occasion. If that's not possible and they get their head smashed into the concrete, then they'll sabotage the opponent out of spite. For being better than them. If Quittalities isn't enough to keep players honest in MK, then the Tekken devs need to take the kid gloves off with pluggers. I personally think they should match people up by Disconnection rates. It's not enough punishment to simply inform the opponent of a player's disconnection rate. If you have like a 70% DC rate, you should only be matched up against opponents that are just as bad off. Once you get some honest matches under your belt and you're down to 63% DC rate, you should still only be matched up against scumbags that are at a 63% or more disconnection rate. The Tekken devs are likely trying to avoid a situation where they get review bombed(cause it sounds like the pluggers really are that petty), so maybe a match-up system like the one I described will keep them in the game and force them to embrace some good sportsmanship, even if it's more for their benefit than the opponent.

The quitter gets ranked pts penalized and can't play for 5,10,20,30 minutes for quitting and the pts of the other players remain the same though if they quit near the end, the quitter's team get no losing pts except for the quitter itself and the winning team gets full victory pts

  • @ardidsonriente2223
    @ardidsonriente2223 6 місяців тому +2

    My 4 cents.
    1- Balance: Harada's team has never been interested in proper balance. They let people have their dumb fun with broken characters and wait for the pro players to define the meta. Only then they made a little few changes, just enough to stop the bigger complains, never more. Then they introduce a new broken DLC char, again...
    2- Ranks: Many people play ranked to learn and improve. Ranked make possible to find the opponents with the skill level closer to yours, and gives you a reference to gauge your own growing against the global competitive population. Ranks and point aren't important themselves: they are just a practical tool.
    2.5 Ranks & Pluggers: I don't hate pluggers because they take my ranks away. I hate them because plugging upsets a good learning system, carrying bad players up, wasting learning time for people who want to improve and making the whole rank classification less trustworthy. However, just taking their points is not that easy, because accurately pinpoint who disconnects without any doubt is not easy, and giving points to people who faced a plugger could also be used to boost levels.
    3- Player1/Player2 "advantage": The classic problem comes when you are crouching, because you blocked something, or because you were forced to crouch somehow. Then you can swiftly "sidestep up" (up~neutral = ssLeft if you are Player1, ssRight if you are Player2), no problem. However, you can't easily "sidestep down". You need to release down fist, and only then you can sidestep. (up~neutral, down~neutral = ssRight if you are Player1, ssLeft if you are Player2) This is much slower and super awkward to do. This problem comes with the design that mixes in the same directional inputs movement in the vertical axis with movement in the horizontal plane. T4 had it solved, but the game had bad luck, huge balancing problems and was rejected by the mainstream players. Then for T5 Bamco decided to backtrack all the innovation, including the free movement design, just out of fear. This problem affect A LOT of characters and moves, and there isn't any reasonable way to fix it, unless they bring back the free movement from T4 (which I would love, but I don't think they will do it ever).

    The rage quitting is hard to fix because it's hard to determine which side raged quit. Online games are peer 2 peer. so all namco's online service does is establish a connection between you and another person. They can determine that someone quit, but they can't determined who quit. The only way I could see to fix this is determining if someone intentionally quit the client. But let's say the console just crashed or someone's power went off, or the internet went down? Should they be penalized? This is a common problem with distributed systems

      @MrBranh0913 no I think you're correct about real time. But they can pull the data, the talk is they want to actually issue bans for pluggers but because that can infringe on actual laws they're having to check they won't get sued for banning. I don't play SF, but I've heard a little about some yellow card system they have leading to time bans. It was definitely piss poor to not have a system in place, Harrada and Co should live in reality and realise most people just want to abuse every possible way to falsely increase their rank - which is hilarious coz, fun fact, your rank don't mean shit and all you end up doing is getting to a level you're nowhere near good enough and get destroyed so regularly you quit the game coz for most of these dimwits they have literally zero fundamentals and understanding of 3D fighters. It is what it is, I'm just glad I only have to wade through scrubs with new characters I want to try out, it must be torture for people actually trying to get legit better.

    Point about king - people say he's technical in very much a similar way that Bryan is, I.E it's technical at a high level, which is to say at a level most people won't play. That is because his grab mixup only really works if you can mask the inputs, so his wavedash (that is the hardest wave dash in the game) and buffering become critical to hiding his inputs. Not to mention that getting consistent giant swings, musclebusters, wizards etc. is definitely challenging (especially if you're going for a range 0 wizard). His optimal combo routes used to also be tough in Tekken 7, and even tougher in T6 and TTT2 where you had to do a true IWR grab to end combos.
    He is simpler than he has been before due to the UF 3+4 and the heat charge RKO nonsense, but there is still meat to king. A part of his technical reputation is also in misconception with his previous iterations as well, which I touched upon briefly.
    I wouldn't say King is near Mishima level or Nina difficulty, but he has tech that needs to be really practiced.

    • @penence347
      @penence347 6 місяців тому

      I would say try playing king against someone who can break throws. At that point the level of mind games and faking inputs is crazy, and his tools are simply not as good compared to the other top tiers. You are right though the changes they gave him in 8 streamlined the gameplay for king a lot before you start to get to a pretty high rank or play in tournament.
      I don't think at tournament level he is that far behind the Mishima's in difficulty simply because they can rely on things like flash punch to guarantee their win condition. where as with king you got to start doing shit like IWR Giant swing to mix peoples techs.

    From what I gathered by playing point distribution depends on a few factors: you and your opponent’s win streak, the difference in your rank, and stats (whether you’re slated to win or lose). Like, if you’re a higher rank or have higher stats than your opponent and lose you’ll lose a lot of points, and if you’re lower but win you win more points. If you end a streak it seems to give you a lot more points: one time I lost to a guy and that put him on a 10 game win streak but when we rematched, despite losing points, I was given a promotional chance. So I believe that plays some big part in it

    You can only sidestep up out of crouch and sidestepping up translates to opposite directions depending on player 1 or 2 side:
    P1 sidstep up = SSL
    P2 sidestep up = SSR
    Since some moves have to be stepped or walked into a specific direction, you might not be able to step that way from a crouching position. That's the explanation for that. Good player's who know that and whose character has moves that force crouch can abuse that.

    As someone that Mains Raven I agree 100% with the Drag and balance problem. But where tekken is unique people accepted that some characters were a little OD in theyre own respects. The caveat is that we didnt mind because to master these characters to gain these powers were pretty high in general. The caracters that were easy were also easy to read and counter with enough knowledge. The easy characters were hard in the sense that you had to play genuine Tekken to get wins I.E. Jack, Kazuya, Asuka, Jin etc. The characters in T8 that are O.D. are not only powerful but easy to grasp in general. As with me picking Raven, in order to even play the character correctly and reap my generic rewards I have to learn crouch cancels and crouch dashes.

    You're not alone in the experience you've had. I remember when I was in Red Ranks, I caught in the same loop; win, promotion chance, plug, lose, and back again. Lose 11 win streak cos of plugging. Continuing sessions can be deflating, especially if you're enjoying the game whether you win or lose.
    I reached Mighty Ruler a few days ago and want to continue my rank journey, but I already know the plugging is going to get worse.

    In addition to getting your points for your opponent quiting, i think a feature along the lines of "committed to the set" would be cool. What it would do is reward "commited" players with more points on wins and maybe even bonus points for winning the set. "Commited" players are LOCKED into full ranked sets (currently ft2). To make up for the bonus win/set win points, players who commit but still leave the set would lose all win points and additional points for being unable to finish the set. This would be a ranked matchmaking setting that you opt in for. Regardless of my own personal opinion, I think players should be allowed to play the game howeever they choose to as long as its an intended part of the game, and unfortunately the 2 easiest things to do in tkn ranked rn is to quit and or one and done. If they arent going to punish these players, they should atleast reward players for putting up with them 👍🏽
    I think this is sound solution but i havent put much thought into yet. Players who dont opt in wouldnt be at disadvantage because they can cherry pick wins and avoid players they think would beat them

    One and done is no big deal. There are some matches I can't stand playing. They get their one match, and I move on. I definitely feel you on the rage quits. I highly doubt rage quitters are a product of SF6 players playing Tekken. Having 100s of hours between PC and PS5 I've encountered exactly one in all that time.
    How does Tekken implement who faces who in rank? Is there a placement system? Does the game ask you your skill level before ranking? One of the things SF6 does exceptionally well is initially ranking after placements and generally keeping people in the rank they belong. All throughout reddit there are folks saying this is my first fighting game, finally made it to platinum after 7 months or something. No way to quantify of course but there generally seems to be less frustration in SF6 rank because there is a general feeling of progressing and getting better. Idk I don't have Tekken experience but this does seem unique to this game and not a SF6 thing.

    Knee complained about Xiaoyu recently. Do you think his complaints are valid?
    Another channel I watch speculated that Knee is just trying to get her nerfed so Arslan Ash has less to work with since he's maining her.
    EDIT: As for ranked, to help cut down on ragequitting, points should be taken before the match from each player, like inserting a quarter at the arcade. Whomever wins gets their points back plus their opponent's.
    If someone pulls/dashboards/legitimately loses connection, they forfeit the match, other player "wins" and gets the points.
    Players who pull/dashboard/lose connection on ranked matches often are banned from offline in increasing increments. First two times no penalty. Third time one hour, then two, then five, then 24, where it stays so each time they pull, 24 hour ban. Not permanent, but enough to annoy them as they annoy legitimate players.
    Still a best of three set, with the option to "One and Done"(I will take someone conceding defeat after getting whooped in one match over them starting a second and pullling), but at least the points the winner deserves aren't stolen.

    Drag, Xiaoyu, Feng, King and Jun need some balancing, some moves need to be less oppresively unanswerable (Azucena's WR3,4 anyone?) and as a personal note, Tekken literally tells you when a PC player is dropping frames in matcg via the icon, such players should be flagged at match acceptance screen or have reduced penalties for losing against them because there are so many PC players chugging along in games that feel like 2-3 bar wireless matches. Optimisation or otherwise, I shouldnt be disadvantaged by their rig.

Of course ranking up feels nice, but at the same time that means I got either lucky fighting a few weaker opponents in a row and am about to get bodied, or I actually improved and can fight better players. Highest I got is only Tenryu, and maybe I'm extremely lucky or people aren't as tryhard at these lower ranks, but in my 60 hours of playtimes I was plugged on three times in ~200 matches.

    If they can’t ban quitters then they should match up with other quitters instead. I think GTA Online and COD has done this with cheaters fighting other cheaters 😭😂

    Wait, you're kidding me? People are doing that? Rage quitting on promo matches and sending messages about you not getting a promotion on them? The hell? And nothing negative happens to these people for quitting? This needs to be fixed. Those like yourself who want to play and stay for the full sets shouldn't be punished for the actions of others. And for some reason I want to say it's not Tekken vets doing this, it's most likely the new comers to Tekken. Honestly, this is giving me Kombat League vibes ... FFS.

    Drag, Jun, DJ, should be a priority to bamco. Straight up oppressive AF. Can know the match up and still can’t do shit about the pressure. Jun is the worst because huge damage, combo scaling is fucking busted, easy af to use, and huge amount of safe moves. Straight up boss character but people are allowed to use her online lol 😂

      Jun is so dumb because of her mix ups plus her strings feel like they never end.

    I will admit I have plugged once. It was against this Law player, he was waaaay better than me, got matched up against him 5 times. He teabagged me after every round and I just Alt F4’d.

    King is only snapped against new players or players who don’t want to break grabs. Half his kit is grabbing you. And they’re not hard to break. Unless you’re mashing

    Are the replays of pluggers saved in the game? Maybe that can be sent to Namco for proof of pluggers.

    Plugging has been an issue for years in Tekken and I still can't believe that it hasn't been sorted out by the release of 8. Absolute madness that this is still an issue and nothing has been done before the game hit the public. And like you and many others have said: this isn't hurting the one that is manipulating the game to their advantage, but the honest player that wants to play the game like it is intended to. And while One and Dones are a problem in its own, I find winquitters even worse. The ones that leave if they lost a match to you but win in the rematch without finishing the set. They have become a lot more ever since the announcement that Pluggers will be banned if legalities are sorted out. Its so wild to me that people are that obsessed with how they appear online these days. If you are in a low rank there is nothing wrong with that, I for crying out loud am still in Orange Ranks because I got shat on in the red ranks after one promotion. Thats just how it works and you don't see me complain about the game being to hard. I just need to hit the practice and lab.

    Maybe this is only happening in higher ranks?
    Cause I'm in low ranks rn and haven't come across any it. I got the game late
    and have been sort of easily swimming into red ranks rn without any rage quitters. It must be frustrating for the newer players, though, so i feel a bit guilty about taking their points. Maybe I'll start experiencing it once i hit purple ranks. Also, I think the reason there's such a huge pandemic of quitters is because the majority are mk casuals. The pluggers that got top ranks were always there but were annoying either way since they knew how to abuse the system. That has always been an issue, and it's one of my biggest issues with the tekken team. But the pluggers that leave out of frustration are a new thing with the number of people playing. And i hate to say it, but it's reminiscent of mk pluggers. Not to say every mk player is a plugger, but plugging has never at the forefront of tekken issues until now, when many mk fans left their game for tekken. And in my experience, I've never so many rage quitters than when i played a nethertrealm game.
