thank you for covering women's sport. we need to inspire all of our youth toward excellence and respect the discipline of serious competition, in all the forms of sport.
When Vollering puts on a climbing performance like today, it makes you really appreciate how good she is in one day races. She's on pretty equal footing with someone like ELB in the classics but on longer climbs there's no comparison.
I would say that's less logical. All you're saying is you couldn't care at less than the current rate of caring, and that you don't currently care (by implication of i coul care).
Absolutely. If someone has a crash like that, they shouldn't be allowed to reenter the race before some medical checks. This kind of behaviour wouldn't be allowed in any other sport. Concussions are no joke. Another hit after that one, and you've most likely gotten brain damage.
Lanterne Rouge: "Demi Vollering Could not Care LESS . . . " ^^ More evidence, Lanterne Rouge is well-educated. Most people would incorrectly say: "Demi Vollering Could . . . Care LESS "
Don't think you need to be well educated to know the correct phrase is: could not care less. It's only Americans who think the expression is could care less. Fuck knows why they think it too. It makes no sense when you say it that way.
Vollering is such an class rider. She is like Pogacar, way above everyone. Unbelievable how SD won't work for her. Fisher-Black won't even do a lead out....? Crazy. Looking forward to cheering for her on another team
There's something horrific about all those non-athletes going past an injured athlete... Surely someone could have given her a hand and checked she's okay
they really hate Vollering at sd worx, they are doing their best to make life as hard as possible for her, but she still wins easily, she must feel lucky Kopecky did not show up to do 'domestique work' for her.
@@mracer8 Kopecky had a stellar start of the season. If the early season effect is that she can afford to take time to recover while she is still comfortable number one in the PCS ranking, so be it. She is riding the Giro and Olympics (both track and road and ITT) and for sure, if on the same form as in the early season, she will smash it.
Yeah, like Fleche when Lotte got on the front to close the 20 seconds to the breakaway, and the gap went out to a minute over the space of a kilometre. Lidl Trek get on the front and the minute gap disappears in a km. Yet, the commentary team credited Lotte for doing great work for the team! SDW are doing Demi dirty every race. Every time a so-called team-mate sits in front of her, Demi ends up going backwards into the bunch. The only way she's able to stay near the front of the Peloton is if she sticks her nose into the wind, and does all the work herself. She was the strongest rider in Strade. She could have done the Ardennes triple again, if the team actually worked for her, rather than against her. I hope she goes on to win the Vuelta, especially after being done dirty by Movistar last year, in what was an absolute disgrace to the sport.
Did whoever let Realini get back on the bike see the wobble? Seems like clear concussion territory. She’s already out of GC contention, probably stage contention, why take the risk? Also, if she actually had a bike that small she’d have fewer crosswind problems 😂
Niewiadoma is sick exactly because of the wet and cold Ardennes races, as is the rest of her team. That's why they only had 5 riders starting the race. Can't expect a top performance from her without being in top form.
@@christopherdolan7330 Bad excuse. She just doesn't know how to talk. I'm sure in Dutch her interviews are equally boring. Elisa Longo Borghini doesn't say 'yeah' every second word.
Lovely commentary of the scenery. I hope Lidl-Trek knows what they are doing. Morale and crashes aside, why would you put Realini in red after the TTT who is intended to be a main GC threat rather than putting a loyal support helper in red. Then later on forcefully drop back a rider for her after she crashes when that ended her stint at GC with other GC threats on the team still available to use and ride for on the stage (mainly ELB) and instead have Realini to use as a domestique/stage hunter? I'm also concerned if Realini's young age is playing a factor into all of this with her being 22 (No Youth classification so keep that in mind as well).
Haven't you been paying attention ? Realini is in red cause she inadvertently crossed the line first after the confusion of the crash in the TTT before the finish line. They did not put her in red.
Everyone at Lidl Trek and elsewhere is trying to make Realini into a GC rider, because that is the highest thing in cycling. But she is so bad at almost every aspect of cycling other than long very steep climbs that it is quite ridiculous. She got two GC podiums at Giro and Vuelta.last year because nobody was actively trying to compete with her and take advantage of her weaknesses in descents, on the flat, in wind, on shorter climbs, in punchy finishes. But the reality is that you are right, she should be a stage hunter in climbing stages and not worry about loosing time in other stages. She could go for GC maybe in short stage races with weaker fields, but the Grand Tours will only get longer which will make them less and less suitable for her.
@@rulifaller8474 That's why GC leaders usually need a team to protect them! The fact that her team (except one rider) left her in a ditch on the side of the road really says it all.
@@davidsiegel9363 Most GC leaders have to be protected because there is a lot of competition and the races are hectic, not because they are weak at every aspect of cycling other than very long steep climbs. There were only 3 other Lidl Trek riders in that lead group. ELB is the team leader so of course she does not wait. Spratt maybe could have waited but is not really strong at pulling on the flat. And Chapman did wait. So as for “the team leaving her in a ditch at the side of the road”” that is just a complete misrepresentation of the situation. You can add to that that she already lost minutes in the crosswinds (when the team did work for her), and the fact that she has not shown any real climbing form at all this year, so it was already a very long shot that she would do well here in GC
Lidl Trek is now saying that there was no staff on scene to assess Realini. But the car was right there! as were race officials. A racer will always want to race but this was really poor by the team and the race doctors (who could have driven up to her after the crash if they weren’t immediately on the scene.)
Kasia Niewiadoma except she don't have the team and might have trouble with long hard hill at those monster stage! Gaia Realini should have great team and should do well with those long hard hill at the end tour stage, the problem is she is tiny and only good at the hill, so chance are she be in trouble and lost time even with team babysitting her all the time and or she wheel suck DV all day long! all the rest should keep losing time on every mountain top ending stage compare to Vollering even without a team! I am not just talking about Vuelta, but tdf and Giro also!
