Rudy Gomis passed this week in is native Casamance Southern Senegal 🇸🇳 rest in peace Rudy thanks for those great years.
Orchestra Baobab is a movement. This song is a hymn, a prayer, a feeling. The Baobab were pioneers of African/Afro-Cuban music with their music feeling almost spiritual. This group has had a profound impact on my life and I keep them and their music very very close to my heart.
Actually Orchestra Baobab is a very old band that found itself tragically out of favor due to Youssou N'dour's and Super Diamono' mbalax revolution. Thankfully they were rediscovered

je reconnais mon oncle à la guitare au premier plan à gauche. Aujourd'hui AVOCAT à la cour de Lomé Maître Attisso. Il m'a parlé de ce concert, un grand retrouvaille des amis quand il était étudiant au sénégale dans les année 70

Il était en même temps étudiant en droit à l’université de Dakar . Tout le monde se demandait comment il arrivait à faire les deux c’est à dire être musicien et étudiant. Comme on dit tout est bien qui finit bien.

Great song, great performance! One would think Youssou, Ismael lo, Baaba Maal and Sadio Mane are just about all that Senegal has to offer, but no! Senegal has much more to offer the world. Long live the Baobab Tree.
