  • Looking for the best restaurant recommendations on Koh Samui? We’ve got a couple of unique places for you. Hidden gems with outstanding Thai food. We didn’t see any tourists. Even though one of them is in Chaweng.
Where to have lunch or dinner on Ko Samui? Flora and Note gave us these great tips in their videos. And they turned out to be the best tips we could wish for. Though eating chicken feet takes a little bit getting used to! ;)

After Mark Wiens and The Roaming Cook Gary Butler, this is our third video checking out restaurant tips by our favorite UA-camrs. This time we visit Flora and Note’s tips on their home turf Koh Samui.
Kai Mara Noodles in Mae Nam serves the best chicken noodle soup you can imagine. They sell out everyday. It’s only open during day time. Their specialty is Kuaytiaw (or Kuai Tiao). The dish is not spicy and very good for kids as well. Our 2-year old toddler Mia loved it, so it’s definitely child-friendly. At the same time it has a very rich and herby flavor. And if you’re in for some culinary adventure, you can get it with actual chicken feet. The braised chicken is really out of this world. A unique eating experience.
We were staying in Lamai, which is half an hour drive from Kai Mara. It’s a bit of the beaten track. So having your own transportation is nice. We could park in front of the door. Maenam is very close to Fisherman’s Village.
After having a great late breakfast / lunch, we head for Chaweng. Here we find Jay Pan. Surprisingly we didn’t see any tourists here. Just locals. The main reason for us to come here is the dessert. But the main dishes were outstanding as well. Very tender meat, great rice soup. But the star of the show is the patongo.
Pa tong go is the Thai version of Chinese donuts. Also known as "you tiau" or "yao tiew". The make them fresh and they are our new favorites. After this we got patongo as much as we could. We didn’t know them before, but they were literally unforgettable. Served with pandan sauce or condensed milk. We can see ourselves go back for sure.
