From their viewpoint, Bree could have been making up the whole thing about Andrew being gay, because she has a very motivated reason to do so.
Saaame More so since she accepted that he's gay I mean come on She is controlling and can be overbearing But her family blew it completely out of proportion Oh no, poor them, tormented by life of exquisite food and a perfect house and mother that does everything for them All that she ever wanted in return is for them to be happy and grow up to be nice people
@@stefanmakara373 I think you are right in that she did want them to grow up to be happy and to be decent people. But in order for them to grow up happy you have to prioritise your children's mental and emotional well being, and unfortunately Bree didn't do that. In fact there were many instances (especially in the earlier series) where she openly stated she was more concerned about maintaining a perfect outward appearance than the emotional well being of her family. Being raised in a household where everything looks nice but nobody is allowed talk about their feelings is a form of emotional suffocation and goes some way to explaining why Andrew, Danielle and even Rex grew to resent her. Thankfully over time she became less emotionally repressed and more accepting, but only because the complete breakdown of her family relationships forced her to.

I see in this scene that Bree is starting to accept Andrew being gay. She even invited his boyfriend. BUT I REALLY DISAGREE that she outed Andrew’s sexuality to her parents before Andrew could. Not good. And that cost Andrew to not receive his trust fund. Bad.
Brees family was just as bigoted as she was if not more so. Yes she started out willfully ignorant but overtime she learned to just love her son is. They both needed to really hit rock bottom before any healing took place.

Ugh i love bree, you must to understand, she grew up in very traditional culture, but she just willing to change, what a mother... And it just stun me when Andrew just sleep with her boyfriend..🤦
Bree may have been a perfect homemaker but she was not a perfect wife/mother. There were many instances where Bree admitted she cared more about maintaining their image as the perfect household than the emotional well being of her family. That is NOT good parenting. Andrew's rebellious personality (and to some extent Danielle too), was the result of living with such an inflexible and emotionally repressed parent. Plus Andrew had a lot or anger towards Bree because her affair with George being what lead to the death of his father... and her disapproval of him being gay obviously hurt him. Their relationship is complex, and later in the series, when she comes to accept Andrew for who he is, they reconcile and have a good relationship once again. Andrew's behavior was at times horrible but he was not a "horrible son", I think all he really wanted was for Bree to truly accept him for who he was, not who she wanted him to be. The same was true for Danielle.
