We use Azerk decking and love it. Another great thing about azek decking is that it is very pliable and can be heated and manipulated to make arches, curves or whatever shape you need. I also like azek trim for exterior use.

Dr. Decks, what do you use for joist tape with Azek? I understand the standard bitumen tapes explicitly say they're incompatible with PVC.

I wonder how it would hold up in a tropical climate. At any rate I would really like to remove the decking that I have, replace the framing and install Azek. I'm a do it yourselfer and enjoy the work. I've already decided that I will use the counterboring hidden screw method of attachment. Now all I need is to come into a bunch of money, then the most difficult part of the job will be deciding which color to use.

any comment regarding TimberTech Legacy vs Azek boards? Certainly Legacy is heavier (legacy is ~ 51 lbs. for a 20' board) ... any thoughts on other pros and cons? - In addition (and don't take offense) I called Timbertech/Azek directly about Platinum Contractors and the 7 year labor warranty... They said that they never heard of that being an offering. The reason for my call to TT is because I was trying to find a Platinum contractor in my area.

We are an Azek/Timbertech dealer in Missouri. We love the looks of it too. The contractors really like handling and working with it also. Good stuff!

Great video and great product. I too love this deck board. To limit squeaking and to minimize expansion and contraction, I use only square edge with cortex plugs. It seems to move and squeak less when I pin it down every 12", then plug it. Then again, that's just me. In the northeast we have large temperature swings.

Hi- great video Dr Decks; we just installed Azek deck and the electrician dropped a drill from the railing and made a gauge and divit that is larger than a nickel, but smaller than a quarter. Is their anyway to remove/replace a board in the middle of a deck with concealed fasteners?
Or should I look to put a cortex compatible plug to conceal? I never heard if that until ur video.

    Here are my 2 cents:
PVC in the summer heat tends to become "more flexible" if you know what I mean.
Trex I installed never had that ... shall we say, problem.

1200sf of the stuff on my deck. It's very loud stuff. snaps, pops and creaks with temperature changes. I think its probably good on small decks in shady areas but the expansion co-efficient multiplies with length, so large decks will be noisy. So much so, people don't want to sit and relax on my deck (self included). 14" OC and fastened with Azek SS screws. Only reason I don't rip it out is because it was 12,000 in decking and screws.

Will this work on a boat for upholstery? Attach the marine vinyl to it along with the foam rubber. I need to attach it to the inside of my bow wall. Prob I/2 inch thick is what I need bc I need it to bend. May need to put a heat gun to it. What do you think? I’m trying to get away from wood and guaranteed rot.

Could show us what it look likes after 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 years? How does it smell during the summer time months. I went to one of the stores here and the samples smelled like toxic plastic from china. I did this test, I took the sample and placed it in a thin transparent bag, with no air, and then placed the bag in the sun for 24 hours. The bag inflated with toxic fumes, pee you.....
