This was so fun to learn about! I am looking into studying abroad next spring semester in Ireland as well! What reasonable amount of trips do you think the average person would be able to fund while studying abroad? Also, do you have a top place you would recommend visiting?!
Hi Lauren!! The budget airlines in Europe are very affordable (because they have to compete with train prices) so flights aren't too bad. I would say you could do 4 weekend trips to different countries with $1,000 including flight/train, accomodation, food, etc but transport cost depends where you're living. I absolutely LOVED budapest and prague but also anywhere in italy (esp rome or florence) is amazing. Happy to answer any questions :)
But if you're studying in Ireland there are also soooo many incredible places to go within Ireland, esp if you like the outdoors. You could travel within Ireland for most if not all of abroad and be content. This is also much cheaper than flying elsewhere but I'd recommend doing a combo of ireland trips and other countries. I think I've done about 6 weekend trips in Ireland, my favorites were Galway and Ballintoy (in northern ireland)
