heres the thing about the practical test. a lot of people imagine it to be this end all be all event that forever decides the rest of your life. my parents always told me if you fail the first time, just remember what you did wrong and use that as a learning experience. success is not without failure! you can always take your practical test again yes it takes time and money but you CAN do it again!
Caitlin seems like a great driver! So calm and collected and safe. Just needs to practice her manoeuvres a bit more and sort out her signals - both easily fixed. She’ll be an amazing driver in no time at all! 😍
it’s been a year since i started driving lessons, it took me 4 months to get my driver’s license, and even now that i have driven by myself over 100 times i still enjoy your videos!
i passed my driving test back in 2015, on the second attempt (my first attempt, i failed with one serious after going down a narrow road, parked cars both sides, with oncoming traffic and i got too close to the parked cars on the left and the examiner had to quickly pull in our wing mirror to avoid damage), but i only started watching your videos in 2021 when i got my first car, a second hand diesel '05 ford fiesta, with a few problems, the first time i had driven since passing. i managed to get straight behind the wheel and start driving again with help from your videos! im now about to pick up my second car this week, a brand new 72 plate fiat 500 mild hybrid dolcevita, and im now watching these videos for better tips to use when driving my new car. im awful for coasting hahaha, trying to get out of that habit! thank you for uploading these! i enjoy watching them all!
A good mock test, I have no doubt Caitlin will be have a strong pass very soon. Obviously Pin explained the late signal being a serious fault, but didn't cover what to do in that scenario. Many people's automatic thought is "Well I'll just have to signal late and take the fail." The solution (whether on your test, or driving once you have your license) is don't indicate, simply to drive straight past the turning. If you are on your test, simply say "I'm sorry I hadn't indicated in time to make that turn safely and chose to drive past the turn for safety." Your examiner will adapt your test. Remember, your driving test is not evaluating your navigating ability, but rather your ability to make safe decisions while trying to navigate or follow directions. Your examiner will not try to trick you into making a bad decision, but if circumstances occur where you have to make a quick decision, they will mark you on it. More importantly, this is also what you do after you have your license. In the wrong lanes on the roundabout? Follow that lane and turn around later if necessary. About to miss your exit while in lane 2 or 3 of a multi-lane carriageway? Just drive on to the next exit and reroute or turn around as necessary. Good drivers occasionally miss their turning or exit. Bad drivers never miss their turning or exit.
This is true to a point; I don't think there's a serious fault for "taking a wrong turn" or missing one if you proceed safely, so I think it's pretty good advice, but what then stops the learner from just driving straight the entire time for an easy pass since they can't be marked down for it lol? I'm sure they're still expected to follow the instructions, so even if they can't be failed outright for this, especially if they explain that what they did was safe, they could very well still be marked down for it or evenfailed for not correctly following the directions. Plus, if they had done it correctly to begin with, then it would've been safe to turn so ultimately their choice to go past was because of a potentially serious fault as well (not signaling earlier WAS the fault). Not sure about the official testing rules so can't say for sure and I might be totally wrong but yeah
@@t-yu going to respond to your points in reverse order. The serious fault was not "Not signalling earlier", it was "Signalling too late". I realise at first glance these may appear to be the same thing, but they are not. If you don't signal early enough for a turn in a test, that isn't what you receive a fault for. The fault is for your decision after that issue has occurred. Your main decision options are: 1 - Signal too late for the turn and take the turn anyway. 2 - Don't signal for the turn and take the turn anyway. 3 - Don't signal and don't take the turn. 3 won't get you a fault providing you are driving safely and appropriately. 1 and 2 are going to get you a fault. But it is that decision to do something unsafe that gets you the fault, not that you didn't indicate early enough, of failed to follow instruction. What stops somebody from just driving straight? Common sense? If you ignore the examiners requests to make turns you will still end up at junctions where you have to make a turn, and likely ones with heavier traffic than if you had followed the basic directions. However, you may not make it that far, because if you are willfully ignoring the examiner's instructions, they may well just void the test. Bad news for the candidate, because if the test gets voided and they didn't choose to have their instructor accompany them on the test, they are going to be walking back to the test centre. Once the test is voided, the examiner will have you pull over, get out, and walk back to the test centre. There won't be an option to drive back. Not that a voided test is not a fail. The thing you should be taking away from this is that it is okay to tell an examiner that you cannot complete an instruction as it would now be unsafe to do so; but don't act the fool on your test and willfully ignore instructions that you can complete safely.
@@damionlee7658 Right, so if they signaled too late, then there should be another option 4, where you signal late and then don't turn, which is the only thing the driver could've done in this situation that maybe wouldn't have screwed them over completely. They were already gonna fail if they signaled late and took the turn, and they already signaled, so their best bet is to turn it off, apologize, and keep going. Not signaling entirely is cool if you already didn't signal late, but if you are already the driver that signaled, it's probably gonna be a fault (and if you were paying enough attention to know to not signal at all, then you probably aren't the driver that makes the mistake of signaling late, or else you wouldn't have signaled late and would've just missed the turn as you advised lol). Yeah, it's not wise to just ignore every instruction but my point was if there's something too difficult for you, you could theoretically just ignore it and apologize. It's not a fault to do it once, but minors like not checking your mirrors will eventually become a serious fault if you've committed them consistently enough in 1 test, so it's not unreasonable to think missing turns can fail you.
@@t-yu if you put the indicator on too late and then turn it off without turning, and there are vehicles around you, the examiner is likely to record that as a serious fault, and you're still in the situation of failing. The only acceptable choice is to not indicate and to drive past the turn. I'm fairly sure that my explanation of the option for the examiner to void the test was comprehensive enough. There are very specific items the examiner can mark the test on. This is all documented, and if you are interested you can look up the DSA DT1 documentation online (make sure you find a recent copy).
@@damionlee7658 Ah, if that's true and turning off your signal immediately and missing the turn is a serious fault as well, then the driver was screwed from the start and there was no way for them to recover from their mistake, and there wouldn't be any way to avoid it if they found themselves in this situation in the future. That's why I was a bit confused by your advice, since they already signaled. The driver did take option 1 in your list and failed because of it, because not signaling at all was not an option, so if they signaled too late and elected to turn their signal off and keep going for safety reasons, they're following your advice but would be failed anyway. If you say "next time you're going go to signal late, just don't signal and go past" isn't much more helpful than saying "just signal earlier" which promotes better habits in the future and is how you'd actually complete the turn. I was trying to find some way to salvage the test after they already signaled late, but if they're faulted for that, then yeah it'd be way better to just not signal if you can...though that's not amazing advice, because it promotes delaying signaling and intentionally missing the turn. If you're in a split-second scenario where you accidentally signal late, you're probably not going to realize that it's a turn you want to miss or signal earlier for, which is exactly the point, because in that case if you're even able to realize such a thing, it's likely you could've just signaled earlier to begin with.
Really good showing from Kaitlyn. You can see that Pin was quite comfortable with her driving and he didn't look like he was tensed-up ready to intervene. Getting an unfamiliar car neatly into a parking bay can be tricky, so I reckon with a bit of polish Kaitlyn will sail through her test and be a good driver on the road.
massive thank you to DGN driving, i was watching his videos for months before my test watching every mistake in the video and learning from it and i managed to pass first time. thank you for posting these videos and good luck to everoyne taking their test in the future
Hi Pin. It would help more if you place the road cam on the driver's end, instead of in the centre. This will give us a good idea of road alignments during various movements of the car from the pov of the driver.
I wouldn't have stopped for that padestrian either. Idk if you people have costcos but if the pedestrian is just... around the car, but not actually in your path at all, there's no reason to wait. If you wait for pedestrians that are just around you but not actually in your path, you'll never park in busy parking lot.
Passed my test a few weeks ago, and can now watch these vids without the pressure on my shoulders. Huge thanks to Pin for keeping me ticking over the whole time!
Bless her, she did really well still! I was lucky enough to pass first time but my mock test about 3 hours before was possibly the worst I have ever driven, the nerves really make you forget simple things
Right. I drove so bad to my test that my instructor was actually shaking when we got there and pretty pissed off with me. I knew it was awful and I had no idea why considering I drove perfectly earlier that day… but I passed with only 3 minors just a few minutes later!
Passed first time on Monday. Videos helped so much and not sure how it feels to finally be one of those that can look at these videos from a passed perspective
I've just past my test last Thursday and these videos helped me massively during the week I was stuck in bed with covid an couldn't do my lessons until the day I passed 4 weeks later I'm so glad I found your channel xx
nerves are a horrible thing, I'm sure she will pass 1st time, if not 2nd time when she realises its not so bad!! I failed my first test in the first couple of minutes. assessor told me to park on the left, so I did, but pretty close to a parked car in front. they told me to drive on and at a snails pace I began to creep. she had to tell me to stop because I would have bumped the car in front. that's the worst way I failed my test because of nerves, the thought of reversing didn't come into my head.
Surprised she got a serious fault for moving when the pedestrian was there. I thought he was far away enough, and she turning to the left and he was to the right. Think I also would've gotten that serious fault.
Yeah… as an Indian, I passed my driving test first time on one of the automated tests in Delhi, but I highly doubt I would’ve ever passed in the UK. Hell! I doubt I’d pass even now.
Thanks for uploading so many useful videos. I passed my practical driving test last week with just one minor. And your videos have helped me a lot for sure.
the signal was the killer for her during day, when she parking almost lost me, she want to move forward to park next to the car or just behind left bay with that timing that is fail on a real test in australia

I've been watching your videos for quite some time now and they are always so helpful because you learn a new thing in every video! it's a shame that she failed her test for not signalling when turning. Apart from that she did quite well to be honest. Thanks Pin.
Guy stay chill and don't worry about the exam. In my pre-test I didn't give way to a car and pedestrians. In my exam me and my instructor talked with the examiner and it went well. It's 15 minutes where you have to be perfect but after that you will learn by continuing to drive
I feel bad really bad. 😢 Nerves probably got the better of her. I think she could still pass her test, but only after more practice to shake off most of the nerves and improve. It's good that she knows her mistakes and is willing to better herself, though. I wish her the best. Definitely not the worst mock test I've seen, not even close. Mostly some silly mistakes here. 😅
definitely one of the better students to fail. she knew she had and wasn't overly cocky, also a silly mistake rather than dangerous mistakes. she's ready to pass but needs more confidence
So yesterday I officialy became the part of ''I got my licence, I just watch it for the fun'' people. I think she was just a bit nervous, and she will became a good driver in no time.

i had about 50 hrs with a driving instructor(s) and about 30hrs with parents; over 7 yrs) eventually got there. Funny thing was i past theory on 1st try, then it expired, then failed 2nd, and past 3rd. Ultimatly it pretty much all came down to nerves. Even when i passed i wanted to just walk everywhere. However mother showed me the cane [or hairbrush, slipper etc.. we kept hiding them for obvious reasons] (this was before parents were told they couldn't dicipline children, or 22 yr old men); and reluctantly i eventually got the courage to drive on my own.
First thing i noticed was her left foot under the clutch pedal. NEVER DO THAT. You might get stuck under the clutch pedal while u actually wanted to get on the clutch.
I remember doing lessons late in life because my severe anxiety and expectations to fail at things would take over so bad, but I had a brilliant instructor, and I passed my test about 5 years ago now when I was 28 years old. It's interesting to see that learners in your videos struggle for lack of a better word, with things I sometimes did too, because back then in my head it was only me that was making these mistakes and no one else was as bad as me, found out I was just being way too hard on myself and better at things then I give myself credit for lol I don't know if I'd have got as much out of my lessons with a different instructor, it's hard to say because I feel like finding an instructor you can gel with is just as important as the lessons, which might sound obvious but I've spoken to people before who are struggling to gel with instructor for whatever reason it may be and they don't think about opting out and finding someone else until someone suggest the idea. I think the way you are with the students is amazing, so much patience, always give great feedback, don't just focus on all the negatives either which I'm sure would be easy to do in some cases, and that's why I always find myself coming back to your channel for more, despite the fact I passed my test years back.

I didn't realize initially that the student drivers were driving a stick shift. I was stressing over a automatic and finally passed on the 4th attempt. I will hopefully get a chance to learn and drive a manual in the future.
I know this video is old but she is actually in the wrong lane. Coseley road was the left hand lane at 6:10. This should be a fault and a dangerous one at that, as cars may assume she is continuing round the roundabout and pull out as she turns into Coseley Road.
you don't have as much (acceleration, clutch or brake)control as if you have kept your heels on the floor. Also slowing down doesn't require clutch every single time (all the way down)if you don't shift gears.Approaching (from greater distance)round about on fully grounded clutch doesn't make sense and gives you less control over the vehicle.I guess these things come with experience in time
Well done, she'll get there soon. I just passed mine last month in the Netherlands. Maybe shouldn't watch so many of these haha, different side of the road.

I binged all your videos plus had two sick instructors I passed yesterday, THANK YOU 😊 🙏🏽
Congratulations on passing your test and thank you for watching the channel
heres the thing about the practical test. a lot of people imagine it to be this end all be all event that forever decides the rest of your life. my parents always told me if you fail the first time, just remember what you did wrong and use that as a learning experience. success is not without failure! you can always take your practical test again yes it takes time and money but you CAN do it again!
Caitlin seems like a great driver! So calm and collected and safe. Just needs to practice her manoeuvres a bit more and sort out her signals - both easily fixed. She’ll be an amazing driver in no time at all! 😍
Driving is all about confidence. Everyone makes mistakes even the most experienced drivers. I really hope she has passed her real driving test now.
deaf viewer here, passed my test last week, all your videos helped me so much! thank you
Thank you for watching the channel and congratulations on passing your test
I've been watching your videos for a few months. I passed my test 2 weeks ago with no minors. I still like to watch your videos now!
Congratulations on passing your test and thanks for watching the channel
it’s been a year since i started driving lessons, it took me 4 months to get my driver’s license, and even now that i have driven by myself over 100 times i still enjoy your videos!
Thank you for watching the channel
@@DGNDriving thank you for your videos! keep up the good work
I passed 2 days ago now, these vids helped massively and ye im for sure gonna be sticking around
i passed my driving test back in 2015, on the second attempt (my first attempt, i failed with one serious after going down a narrow road, parked cars both sides, with oncoming traffic and i got too close to the parked cars on the left and the examiner had to quickly pull in our wing mirror to avoid damage), but i only started watching your videos in 2021 when i got my first car, a second hand diesel '05 ford fiesta, with a few problems, the first time i had driven since passing. i managed to get straight behind the wheel and start driving again with help from your videos!
im now about to pick up my second car this week, a brand new 72 plate fiat 500 mild hybrid dolcevita, and im now watching these videos for better tips to use when driving my new car. im awful for coasting hahaha, trying to get out of that habit!
thank you for uploading these! i enjoy watching them all!
Your main decision options are:
1 - Signal too late for the turn and take the turn anyway.
Perfect Instructor!! Wish you were based in London
Surely the pedestrian is far enough away and on the other side ?
Really good showing from Kaitlyn. You can see that Pin was quite comfortable with her driving and he didn't look like he was tensed-up ready to intervene. Getting an unfamiliar car neatly into a parking bay can be tricky, so I reckon with a bit of polish Kaitlyn will sail through her test and be a good driver on the road.
She's very good at pretending to remember which parts of her driving he's talking about.
massive thank you to DGN driving, i was watching his videos for months before my test watching every mistake in the video and learning from it and i managed to pass first time. thank you for posting these videos and good luck to everoyne taking their test in the future
Well done on passing your test and thanks for watching the channel
Congratulations on passing your test and thanks for watching the videos
Her clutch foot seems to rest under the pedal, not a good habit, theres a foot rest to the left
Wish there was a way of knowing whether or not she passed her actual test. It'll be good for the video too
She's a VERY good driver that's for sure.
Well done on passing your test
I hope this is me looking back on this in 3 weeks lol. Feels like I will never pass
I just passed my test this morning with only 1 driving fault, thank you PIn the ultimate driving course was my life saver!!!
Congratulations on passing your test, I'm glad the UDC helped as well
ahhhh passed my test first try and can now watch these types of videos in good spirits
Surprised she got a serious fault for moving when the pedestrian was there. I thought he was far away enough, and she turning to the left and he was to the right. Think I also would've gotten that serious fault.
6:05 "Cosy Road" sounds nice and cosy 🙂😊
love that facial expression when she forgot to signal 😂 i think it summed up all of our reactions perfectly
Why do you need to avoid hitting the curb when everyone is parked almost completely on the sidewalk lol
How do you forget to turn off a signal? I mean its so loud it would distract me
Yeah… as an Indian, I passed my driving test first time on one of the automated tests in Delhi, but I highly doubt I would’ve ever passed in the UK. Hell! I doubt I’d pass even now.
Passed my test today best advice I can give is try to speak with your examiners gets you feeling comfortable
Congratulations on passing your test
Thanks for uploading so many useful videos. I passed my practical driving test last week with just one minor. And your videos have helped me a lot for sure.
Thank you for watching the channel and well done on passing your test
I passed my first time bout 3 weeks ago, just bought my first car. These videos helped and taught me things that they didnt
the signal was the killer for her during day, when she parking almost lost me, she want to move forward to park next to the car or just behind left bay with that timing that is fail on a real test in australia
Passed my test today with only 2 minors, I've been using the ultimate driving course for a few months and it helped to improve my driving skills, After months of struggling so thank you 😊
Congratulations 🥳 wish me luck
@@Yanal-nm9in good luck 🍀
Thank you for using UDC and well done on passing your test
She's loveleh. She'll pass if she remembers to indicate properly😂
I've been watching your videos for quite some time now and they are always so helpful because you learn a new thing in every video! it's a shame that she failed her test for not signalling when turning. Apart from that she did quite well to be honest. Thanks Pin.
Feels good watching these videos after passing your test
Got my test coming up on the 31st of October and I actually can’t wait to actually join the ‘pass section’ 👌
Best of luck! Make sure you come back and join the “passed but still watching” club!
@@GeorgeWat 🙏🏾
Same as me
Good luck with your test
I thought she dealt with the roundabouts very well, they were complicated. The inability to park in an empty car park was more concerning.
Guy stay chill and don't worry about the exam. In my pre-test I didn't give way to a car and pedestrians. In my exam me and my instructor talked with the examiner and it went well. It's 15 minutes where you have to be perfect but after that you will learn by continuing to drive
That pedestrian was miles away!
Don't feel too bad, she did really well. Plus it was just a MOCK test not the real thing.
stannis
I feel like these mistakes were down to nerves
I’m from the U.S. and have had my license for over a decade.
But I still find these videos interesting to watch haha
So yesterday I officialy became the part of ''I got my licence, I just watch it for the fun'' people. I think she was just a bit nervous, and she will became a good driver in no time.
I finally passed my driving test! Thank you Pin for those videos ❤ I wish to everyone to pass their tests!
It’s not as bad as you think. I’ve got mega bard anxiety and I mean bad. The day of my test I was being sick , sweating uncontrollable. My hour lesson before my test when tits up. Then went to test centre nervous as hell still sweating my tits off lol. Go on my test and passed with 1 minor. The test is over before you know it goes mega fast. I know I can drive just got shit confidence. But Just plan ahead and keep focused. Drive safely they ain’t there to fail you
she also should work on turning her signal off! she left it on for so long multiple times but still did a good job
i had about 50 hrs with a driving instructor(s) and about 30hrs with parents; over 7 yrs) eventually got there.
After watching alot of your videos, i finally passed my test on the 16th mate😁
16th of this month or 16th test? 😄
@@yatesy117 Month😭 should’ve been abit more specific tbf
God I was thinking you meant on the 16th try 😂
Well done on passing your test
I would be annoyed by the sound of the indicators
Finally joining the ‘passed but still watching’ group! First time with 5 minors - I was like Caitlin and struggled with my manoeuvres, but spent a lot of time before my test on these and fortunately got the parallel park which is my favourite of the four.
You like parallel parking?
@@jasonkillsformomy yes, I am awful at reverse bay so it was a blessing for me!
@@charlieclarke9083 I see. The lesser of two evils for you.

Well done on passing your test
Good job Kaitlyn! If you did that well in an unfamiliar car and knowing your driving will be posted on UA-cam for all the world to see, you'll nail the real driving test!
Passed my test second time a couple weeks ago… these videos help soooo much to learn about faults and how not to make them…keep doing what you do pin :)))
Well done on passing your test and thank you for watching the channel
I didn't realize initially that the student drivers were driving a stick shift. I was stressing over a automatic and finally passed on the 4th attempt. I will hopefully get a chance to learn and drive a manual in the future.
Too close to a bus in front of me whilst overtaking, examiner didn’t get involved but still failed.
I passed my driving test 3 years ago but I'm still watching your videos!
It’s extremely difficult to pass the test in a car you haven’t driven before.
I know this video is old but she is actually in the wrong lane. Coseley road was the left hand lane at 6:10. This should be a fault and a dangerous one at that, as cars may assume she is continuing round the roundabout and pull out as she turns into Coseley Road.
9:16 hello darkness my old friend
The way you pronounce your words is hilarious “Lirnning” instead of Learning 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
DGN, I'm so thankful for your videos, I passed second time round!
Thank you for watching the channel and well done on passing your test
you don't have as much (acceleration, clutch or brake)control as if you have kept your heels on the floor. Also slowing down doesn't require clutch every single time (all the way down)if you don't shift gears.Approaching (from greater distance)round about on fully grounded clutch doesn't make sense and gives you less control over the vehicle.I guess these things come with experience in time
I passed today, thankyou for you help through these videos I watched them before my test and it helped so thankyou 😄
Well done on passing your test and thank you for watching the videos
Well done, she'll get there soon. I just passed mine last month in the Netherlands. Maybe shouldn't watch so many of these haha, different side of the road.
Good mock test. Few more lessons you will smash it! Remember turn the key clockwise to start and opposite to turn off 😅
I had my driving test last week, I passed with 2 minors. Thank you for all the videos and help!
Congratulations on passing your test
I'm not even from the UK (I'm from the Netherlands) but I really like to watch your video's Pin! And yes it feels strange to see you driving on the left haha.
Thank you for watching the channel
Your videos helped me a lot I passed my driving test yesterday thank you so much .
Well done on passing your test
Thank you so much for your videos, it really made me aware of how to be a safe driver for my test. I can watch these clips in peace now lol
Second gear is fine at junctions. As long as you don't stop.
I used too have this indicator problem where as soon as I would turn I would cancel it myself my instructor hated it 😂
Got my driving test this Friday coming wish me luck 🙏🏿
