5:48 My interpretation of the Sat Nav saying "Keep right" is to stay in the middle lane when three lanes evolve. i.e. don't get in the left lane. Ahead of us the left lane becomes left turn only and I think this is the issue the SatNav is alerting us on.
Keep right does just mean don't move to the left, yes. Mine says it when there's a left "turn" that appears to be a straight ahead, like country roads with no markings for example. Some of them will even tell you which lane to get into when approaching a roundabout or complex junction.
The learning never stops. I passed in the 90s, plenty of time to pick up some really bad habits. Also, things change - the Highway Code is tweaked every now and then, the difference in volume of cars means different considerations. It’s always good to have a check now and again to make sure I’m still doing ok.
Seems like he's nervous, and probably the product of a nervous instructor that hasn't actually explained anything to him about driving technique. Also seems like perhaps David hasn't been particularly observant during his youth when driving with others, like parents etc. Anyway good luck, take it slow and easy and you'll get there!
The first minor fault, the braking at the start - it's actually a requirement where I live. 😁 In Hungary you have to check your breaks before moving on, and then check if it really functions after starting your test's route. If you forgot to do it, you are out - test failed. I mean - sure you don't have to smash the brakes, but yea 😂 I'd say David did the right thing ( if he was in Hungary lol )
I’ve passed my driving 2 weeks ago and I’m not nervous anymore. My advice is literally watch as much videos you possibly can and don’t be scared you’ll be okay
David - You'll get there eventually mate dont worry about it. I failed a few times due to nerves. Some people take longer than others, some people struggle with certain parts of the test more than others. The roads aren't getting easier so I feel for the struggle younger people have and the cost is never great. Stick to it and keep chipping away !
I would be curious to know if the learners who appear on this channel grew up in a house that had a car, or if they grew up having to walk or take public transport. It would be interesting to know if it has a significant influence on how good they are at interpreting road markings, lane discipline, and where they are supposed to position their car.
Personally my parents and everyone in my family have always driven but things like road markings and rules were oblivious to me same as being a passenger on a bus, it was only when i learnt to drive i took any notice of that stuff. I kind of miss being the passenger that doesn't think like a driver now its much more relaxing 😂
I feel the route did him no favours! 40 hours is a lot of lessons to be making these mistakes. I hope David gets more practice and becomes more confident!
Hi Pin, I passed my test on Monday of this week and partly for the reason is because of how much I watched your videos!! They taught me loads and it was they were very helpful. So Thankyou :)

The red light thing, he probably got confused between that and zebra crossings. He probably heard that on a zebra crossing you can go once the pedestrian has crossed and maybe assumed it applied to lights too or just got them mixed up.
@@circe2258 they look completely different but you do the same thing at them, stop. He probably didn’t remember that his instructor said it about zebra crossings, just that he said it
Do u record in the west midlands? near wolverhampton cause i recognise this place you drive around and it is the same in other videos? I also think that i have seen you driving before aswell.
He definitely needs a new instructor, most people are not one tenth as bad as this even with just a few hours of lessons. Driving isn't for everybody, some people have to work much harder to get to standard but you need someone who recognises that, after 40 hours of lessons and making mistakes like this then the instructor is shit. He also needs to read the highway code as he is clueless in some regards, he will get there but he needs to actually study so to speak as he is making mistakes which is common sense (the red lights at crossing). David, study the highway code, do pins course, increase your road knowledge then find a new instructor who is patient and understands your needs. Your fine in a manual but just learn how a manual works so you don't make the same mistakes.
When David Hesitated At That Right Turning, Brought Me Back To My Test, I Hesitated Twice At A Turning Right And Kept Saying I Should Of Gone Then Haha, But David You Will Get There, Keep Going Bud

@@andychapman1507 yeah but he's a LEARNER, we all made dangerous mistakes as learners. the good thing is, it seems like he's learning from those mistakes and will improve in time
I am sorry but I am no expert because I am still learning to drive but this video made me think maybe he should not be driving clearly miles off for being tested ready.
I think he just wanted to see where he was with his driving. He did say his driving was bad after 40 hrs of lessons. Might need another 40 because him trying to go through a red light was scary.
I know people are trying to be positive and supportive in the comments but honestly, this is terrifying. 40 hours and still so totally oblivious to surroundings, clearance, lane discipline, clutch control, even traffic lights. Whoever's been teaching this guy needs sacking.
Believe me the amount of instructors I've had because they've been so negligent is unbelievable and I'm paying them money. I haven't had a good experience at all and I still haven't passed yet... 😭
@@moniopia9551 to be fair, after a certain point, the responsibility is still on you. You recognise they're bad yet blame your failure on them? Instructors can only tell you what to do, they can't do it for you. It's up to you whether you accept their instruction or not though. If they tell you that you can drive through a red light if there are no pedestrians and even though you know red means stop, you decide it must be true and don't bother to fact check it, then it's probably good you don't have a full licence. "You" being anyone who thinks this way btw, not necessarily you personally. My instructor would text while I was driving and have me take him around on his errands during my lessons, and then on the day of my test was so abusive beforehand that I failed from the emotional stress of it all. I immediately sacked him, found a new instructor, booked a new test and went on to pass. Driving isn't difficult if you pay attention to what's going on around you, and an instructor can't do that for you. They can tell you what to look out for on a very specific route they practice with you over and over so that you can pass the test but that doesn't make you a good driver. Only you can do that for yourself.
@mydogeatspuke I have been consistently asking myself if I'm the problem though. Please read my comment on the channel. I don't know if you have but please read it.
PLEASE SOMEONE READ THIS COMMENT BECAUSE I'M PISSED!!! I don't understand what is going on... I've been watching your videos for a few years now. And I even bought the ultimate driving course. That was only for manual. I couldn't learn the the manual as I struggled so I go on to automatic. I have gotten better but I keep on having negligent driving instructors. I'm now on my 5th one out of the driving instructors I've had and now I'm at my breaking point. The worst thing about it. I ask myself is it me the problem? Am I causing this? Is it because I can't drive. There are soo many people who can't drive and they've been allowed to pass by driving examiners. 🙄 but they won't allow me to take my test. And I know I'm not bad. Idk... I've had 3 driving instructors from this company. 3. The first one was a manual and I couldn't hack it. The second one has cancelled on me 3 times in a row and ive lost faith in him. I think it's on purpose now. I've also struggled getting driving instructors from this company. The videos obviously say another story to what the customers seem to be getting, or is it me am I the cursed one? I'm sick of this. When I hear people and their experiences they haven't had experiences like mine. I'm angry and this is a total SHAM... This city (Wolverhampton) is cursed or either I'm cursed and I feel like just giving up. And the thing is I've been extremely persistent for nearly 2 years with driving for 2 years and I haven't gotten by. My 3rd driving instructor with dgn which I have currently I'm sorry but I can barely understand him and I'm quite hard of hearing. He's always grabbing the steering wheel from me, I can barely drive without him grabbing it from me... 😭😭😭 and im frustrated because how on earth am I going to learn if he keeps on doing that. He stops me multiple times but you know the worst thing he says I'm a good driver. So why am I being constantly stopped. I broke down in the car. It seems these people are taking me for a FOOL...
It's difficult to actually know what's going on since you don't really say very much about your lessons here? If someone keeps cancelling on you then you should find a new instructor, that's pretty obvious, but otherwise I'm unsure what the issue is? You couldn't get along with manual, presumably clutch control, but don't say how long you tried for before switching to automatic. You don't say how many hours you've done of lessons. The only thing you really do say is that an instructor is having to grab the wheel a lot, which suggests you're not in control of the vehicle and so of course you wouldn't be taking a test if you can't control the car properly because you'd instantly fail. Have you actually asked your instructor what you're doing wrong to cause him to grab the wheel? Have you asked how to remedy it so he doesn't feel the need to? Have you explained that you can't hear him properly? If yes and he hasn't answered or tried to amend his instruction then you should find a new instructor. Apart from the wheel grabbing, what else do you do in your lessons? Have you done any parking? Right turns at busy junctions? The car does gears and hill starts for you so your focus would be on lane discipline (which could explain the wheel grabbing), roundabouts, sign and marking reading, mirrors etc. How are you with those things? How many hours have you done since switching to automatic, and over how long a period? Any long breaks in between lessons? I doubt anywhere or anyone is cursed, though, so I would try to get that out of your head. I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable explanation for your struggles.
@mydogeatspuke I had over 20 lessons approx with my manual driving instructor and he told me I should go to automatic so I did. And I knew for myself that driving manual would be hard. I didn't despair because it was the beginning but my dad constantly makes me feel bad and is very discouraging towards my driving, he says I'm gonna fail and that i should be driving manual. He's even blamed me for not passing even though he passed on his 5th attempt so I don't understand why he's annoyed at me. Everyone was a learner once. I suppose I'm thinking that I'm cursed because it's my dad constantly banging on in my head I am cursed... I live with him 24/7 so it's headache I know I shouldn't listen to him but it's hard I guess. The problem isn't the fact that my new instructor grabs the wheel but he tells me I'm a good driver but then grabs it so I feel it contradicts what he's saying. I havent asked him to remedy it. I've only has one lesson with him I plan to tell him the next lesson how I feel. About the constant stopping, grabbing the wheel and that I can't understand him very well. As I said before the first one was manual, my second one was horrible to me considering I only had 2 lessons with him and he said I'm a bad learner. No one deserves to hear that. So I had to switch then when I told him I wasn't having driving lessons with him again he said all the best for the future. He even asked me if I have a learning disability and got angry at me... in my lessons I do a mix of everything. Dual carriageways, roundabouts, junctions, filter lanes, hazards all that type of stuff. I havent had much practice on maneuvers (parallel parking, reversing into a bay) every instructor tells me something different and when I tell them I've been taught differently they are persistent that I learn their way so it's annoying and confusing for me because I keep switching not because I want to but because I keep being let down. The 3rd instructor was terrible. She would consistently cancel my lessons because she was sick or she had to take her kids to parents evening or she went on holiday and I'd have to consistently ask her what's going on and I'd get the answer without her telling me first. She'd have car punctures. I gave her a lot of chances and I told her how I felt and she was saying "well I am human, I can only come when I can." She'd come excessively late not thinking that I have a life too and I need to go places. I'm paying her to have these lessons. The most stupidest reason why she couldn't have a lesson with me is cuz she had a call from virgin, she could have put her phone on silent. At that stage I thought it was the last straw and I stopped driving with her. The 4th has cancelled on me 3 times in a row similar to the last one and I just lost faith in him. And now the 5th. I'll have to tell him how I feel. I'm not the type of person who tells people how I feel when i should. I do stick up for myself when I'm ready but not all the time. I'm just worried that I'll have an awkward time with them. But I'm wasting my money I have to tell them at some point that this is bothering me...
@@moniopia9551 so basically people suck and you decided that's your fault? Ignore everyone else. You could even Ignore me if it feels wrong to you, that's your right as a person. Ignore your dad and his misery guts attitude. Ignore everyone saying they know best and everyone else is wrong. Just block it all out. Because trust me, it doesn't get better as you get older. People are the worst. You have to trust yourself and your judgement and know that you're doing the right thing without anyone telling you that you are. You're in a pretty stressful time of your life so it's the perfect opportunity to practice blocking all of the negativity out. As for your driving itself, yes, ask your instructor. Be clear with him. Decide what specifically you need help with, what you still need to learn, and do that. If he won't work with you then find someone who will. Like you said, you're paying these people, so they should be doing the job you're paying them for. I didn't realise the wheel grabbing was because it was your first lesson with the new instructor, so it could be that your clearance was off because of a new car. It can be hard to acclimate as a learner to a new vehicle. But you don't know unless you ask, and people don't know that you want to know unless you ask. It's again a great opportunity to practice those skills, speaking up and being honest and communicating your needs. I know it's hard, especially if you're used to people responding with abuse. My instructor said something similar about learning disabilities just before my first test, it was cruel and unnecessary and really knocked my confidence, and I was nearly 30 at the time so hardly young and insecure. People suck. But not always, that's worth remembering. With parking, try not to learn using markers like getting this part of the car in line with this part of the road and then turning until this thing does that etc. Try to actually understand what it is you're doing and why. It will help you learn how to do it so much faster. We get stuck on how things are supposed to be done because instructors tell us these really specific things they've decided we definitely have to know (like push pull steering, such a waste of energy and sooooo dangerous), but it's all just noise. Move your mirrors down a bit so you can just see the floor next to your back wheels when you glance to the side, and as silly as it might sound, be the car. Turn the wheel side to side and move slowly so you can feel how it reacts, see in the mirrors how it moves. It's exactly the same as going forwards when you look out of the back window. If you can do that, you won't be nervous when you finally take your test because you'll know you can do it every time just as easily as you can breathe. See if your instructor is happy to sit quietly and let you try it for yourself before giving you any pointers, so you don't have their bias in your mind bouncing around like a ping-pong ball. And remember to breathe. Nothing is the end of the world, everyone gets things wrong sometimes, it's all just temporary and tomorrow is another fresh start. Sorry for the super long reply, I'm just super passionate about people not feeling badly about themselves because of others and their noise.
Thank you so much for your response. I appreciate the time you have given to respond to me. Thank you for the encouragement and tough love I really do need it sometimes to balance things out. I like the way you have worded your reply too. I'm 20 so I'm still young. I suppose it's the money I've spent but tbh it is a good investment i know that if I do give up then I will never know success so i must keep trying as I already have been. Thank you. I now feel at ease.

Day by day our driving lessons and driving test are changing more and more by these learners. 😆 🤣
I’ve passed my driving 2 weeks ago and I’m not nervous anymore.
My advice is literally watch as much videos you possibly can and don’t be scared you’ll be okay
When he said he was "pretty bad", he wasn't lying, was he?
David - You'll get there eventually mate dont worry about it. I failed a few times due to nerves. Some people take longer than others, some people struggle with certain parts of the test more than others. The roads aren't getting easier so I feel for the struggle younger people have and the cost is never great. Stick to it and keep chipping away !
Pin’s side eye throughout the test had me dying 😂😂😂😂
I would be curious to know if the learners who appear on this channel grew up in a house that had a car, or if they grew up having to walk or take public transport.
It would be interesting to know if it has a significant influence on how good they are at interpreting road markings, lane discipline, and where they are supposed to position their car.
Personally my parents and everyone in my family have always driven but things like road markings and rules were oblivious to me same as being a passenger on a bus, it was only when i learnt to drive i took any notice of that stuff. I kind of miss being the passenger that doesn't think like a driver now its much more relaxing 😂
how tf do you forget the car is on when you're literally driving it
Passed today with 2 minors, thanks to Pin, his videos and the Ultimate Driving Course 😊
Well done for actually getting a test! Jk, well done!
When did you book your test out of interest?
I feel the route did him no favours! 40 hours is a lot of lessons to be making these mistakes. I hope David gets more practice and becomes more confident!
Hi Pin, I passed my test on Monday of this week and partly for the reason is because of how much I watched your videos!! They taught me loads and it was they were very helpful. So Thankyou :)
Just needs to go back to basics for a little while! I think sometimes nerves plays a big part in silly mistakes, but once he’s built up his confidence, his next mock test will be much better!! Don’t give up!! 😊
Failed my Code 14 test on the 1st of December, booked another for another test.I the came back learned a lot from your videos and today I passed.
Ngiyabonga( means "thank you" in IsiZulu)

The red light thing, he probably got confused between that and zebra crossings. He probably heard that on a zebra crossing you can go once the pedestrian has crossed and maybe assumed it applied to lights too or just got them mixed up.
No way that’s possible, zehra crossings look completely different
@@circe2258 they look completely different but you do the same thing at them, stop. He probably didn’t remember that his instructor said it about zebra crossings, just that he said it
@@henryasher1920 no that’s stupid, literally no one would think that, traffic lights are easy to understand
@@circe2258 grow up
@@circe2258 of course Ukraine flag and is a retard asshole
To be fair he did warn you at the start 😂
Maybe he mixed up "go when pedestrian has crossed on red light" to "go when pedestrian has crossed on flashing amber".
him trying to start the car while he literally just stopped was hilarious 😭😭
How many lessons has he had? this is horrendous. I passed first time at 17 in 2003 with 11 months of lessons 1 per week.
Do u record in the west midlands? near wolverhampton cause i recognise this place you drive around and it is the same in other videos? I also think that i have seen you driving before aswell.
First I laughed, but then felt pity. God bless him man you can see he’s stressed. Good luck in your driving journey!
I think you haven't met "most people" no offence, but this isn't even close to the worst out there
Great video and we all learn from good feedback from our instructors and we all make mistakes in the process. Hope the guy passed his test. 👍
Lookin’ smug grabbin that wheel fella. Kinda feel like you’ve been wanting it to happen.
Why do i keep watching these lol
I passed my test 3 years ago and we don't even drive on the left side of the road in my country
Thank you for watching the channel
When David Hesitated At That Right Turning, Brought Me Back To My Test, I Hesitated Twice At A Turning Right And Kept Saying I Should Of Gone Then Haha, But David You Will Get There, Keep Going Bud
It’s weird watching this when I just passed my driving test 😂
Surely David‘s steering with hands crossed is another serious fault with his driving?
I have failed my driving test 8 times, yet with my instructor i am perfect, but when it comes taking the test, i keep failing. I have developed so much fear for test to the point of no return.
Is there a way you can help.
Maybe you are nervous during your test.
Good luck bud! You'll get there soon.
I like watching these before lessons. I've been told I'm doing the very hardest test route today, so I'm a little apprehensive.
Your job is not easy, need to keep concrete all day long
İ highly recomend i watched the videos and now i can drive and auto and manuel i feel comfortable
To get a driving licence
I think as humans we are stronger than we think but let our anxiety er the best of us. With more practice he will get it
I was watching your videos 2-3 months before i had my exam and yesterday i passed in my first try , greetings from Serbia 👍
"glad we cleared that up" 😭😭😭😭
im shocked, tried to jump a red, almost goes into oncoming traffic at another junction because he doesnt want to wait for oncoming traffic lights to change, tries to run another red after the peds have crossed. i watched this whole video with a 🤨🤨
ok dude you don't have to be so rude about it

@@andychapman1507 you're right bro it was awful I'll try my best to learn 👍🏿
@@andychapman1507 yeah but he's a LEARNER, we all made dangerous mistakes as learners. the good thing is, it seems like he's learning from those mistakes and will improve in time

I am sorry but I am no expert because I am still learning to drive but this video made me think maybe he should not be driving clearly miles off for being tested ready.
To be fair to him, he just wanted to test where he's at. Now he knows what he needs to improve on.
I think he just wanted to see where he was with his driving. He did say his driving was bad after 40 hrs of lessons. Might need another 40 because him trying to go through a red light was scary.
I bet he never downloaded the ultimate driving course.
Serious faults, I have to drive the car for you 😅😅
I think he would really benefit from going over his theory, a lot of it is to do with not being confident of the rule of the roads
@@moniopia9551 I hadn't seen it before no, but I have replied to it now
@@mydogeatspuke If you're instructors are garbage you're not going to learn. In that case it's still 100% on them
10:55 he could have gone... the volvo obviously had its signal on and he had plenty of space.. bad instructing
12:59 he didn’t move over to exit lanes for A463 and went to them later from lane going to A4038! I don’t think that was correct. Would have been serious fault!
I enjoy watching these videos though l passed mine long time
Fear levels in this one for both of them from 0 to 100%?
5:35 hol up you supposed to check and signal before???
Yes. Otherwise you could hit a car in the right lane cus you didn't see them
Took me 5 YEARS after my lessons to finally have the courage to do my test, but I finally got it on the second go. Still love these videos as much, if not more now😂😂
I would say get a new instructor
He his going to improve but he his so funny 😂 funny 😆 funny

Bless him... It is hard. I am struggling myself but mainly with knowing how much wheel to turn. Plus I'm learning in an automatic so much easier with regards to the clutch. Maybe automatic car might be better for him??
I thought the same about manual when I was learning but I think the stats for reasons for minors on or failing the test was something like 4% were because of it being manual. I really struggled but you do definitely get the hang of it
bless the learner, he was looking so stressed out throughout the drive 🤣
My instructor always told me never to cross my hands. You seem to allow this to happen often
I’m glad I live in the USA automatic cars are easier to learn if I was learning how to drive like that I’ll be a mess😯
We can learn in autos as well - i have the pleasure of using both 🤗
Manuals are fine, it's a myth that one is easier then the other
Manoeuvre, mirrors, signal, lol.
I've only had one lesson, I'd probably get it wrong as well.
I imagine his mind was just going blank at times and a lot of those errors he wouldn't do if he had time to think about it first.
The instructors facial expressions 😂😂😂. Scratches his beard... silent sign for you failed. 😂 I like that the instructor laughs with them as well.
Hate to be negative but he needs a lot of further work to reach test standard.
That's true.
12:10 Bro had to stop and think about the Ultimate Driving Course for a moment. Respect
it's really good to see to make sure the driver to get more knowledge from driving on the road
i tried watching your video before i learn how to drive and let me tell u if u drive like that in saudi arabia u know nothing about driving
unfortunately the videos didn't help me but it's not bad it just don't work on saudi arabia
Love watching videos like this after passing lol
Its good he's aware of the things he need to work on. He'll get there eventually, just need more practice and lessons. I think observations are the key things he needs to work on though, and that's most important to drive safely. Good luck David!
I literally died laughing when you looked at him saying “the car’s on” 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Atleast his mirrors are on point 😂
I've noticed when he stalls he just uses the foot brake then clutch in and starts, I was always told when u stall first thing is handbrake on then restart the car guess it must have changed over the years 🤔
