@@jamesstavros3680 Bases loaded in the 8th. When he came up in the 9th, it was 2 men. Still enough for them to take the lead had he not kept swinging at pitches out of the strike zone. That last pitch was insane!

I love that Padres consider us their rival since they're just someone we play sometimes. Giants may not be big right now, but I don't know a single Dodgers fan that considers padres our rival. They're just craving our attention... They beat us once, but they're just a bump in the road normally. Giants will always be our rival and Padres need to find something of their own to do besides never winning a world series.
The Japanese have a saying, "Complacency is a great enemy". The Dodgers are 8-5 vs the Padres during the regular season this year, so no, they did not beat the Dodgers "once". The Dodgers managed to win today, but it could have been a _lot_ cleaner. Too many walks allowed especially after 2 strike counts, and a passed ball and a wild pitch in the same inning is less than ideal.
Any Major League team can beat the Dodgers. Griffin Canning has an ERA of like 14, and he held the Dodgers to 1 run and 4 hits over 6 2/3 innings, while Bobby Miller blew out, allowing 7 runs in the same game. All it takes is for the other side's pitchers to have a great day and for ours to be less than 100%, and tomorrow we're up against a pitcher who has held most Dodger batters to .250 or lower (Ohtani is 1-5 against Darvish this year).

LA capitalized on errors and that was huge, Machado over throwing , Merrill with the miss catch. 2 stars with some rare miscues were huge . LFGSD!
One error: Machado's throw. Merrill couldn't run fast enough to catch the ball. Not being able to get to a ball out of reach isn't an error or a miscue.

Padre batters were not fooled by Yamamotos split finger. I wonder if they picked up something that tells them when he is going to throw it? Every time he threw it they just watched be called for a ball.
Taking cease out that early is a strange decision. He’s been fantastic all season, and with a lead, I’d wanna give him the opportunity to get into the 5th at least.
Strange? Because 82 pitches and 4 earned runs in 3 and 1/3 are what, something to build on? Yamamoto only threw 60 pitches and gave up 5 earned runs as well, with one less out. Cease just didn't have it and managers and pitching coaches maybe know a little better than you or me? Go LAD!

I have seen Yamamoto pitch in about a half dozen games so far. Admittedly a small sample size, but in those games, I've seen very little evidence that he's anything more than a mediocre pitcher with little control of his pitches. I sure hope he starts doing better in his next game.
