I was driving in the last innings and saw fireworks near San Gabriel. Thought maybe Dodgers won so I asked my friend to look up the score. He said the game was tied. But then immediately afterwards Yankees retook the lead. I thought for sure it was over-especially since I didn't see any more fireworks. Boy was I happy when I got home and looked up the score.

I think this match up was honestly something baseball absolutely needed, who knew game one could come close to meeting the expectations of the fans?? That was drama incarnate!
I'm not a fan of the commute to Chavez, now I think about it, I have been to a few Dodger's games back around 1989 when I was a kid. They used to give out actual wooden miniature bats to fans.
@@samiam619 I just watched it - the parallels are striking! Both Game 1. Both with two outs. Both batters injured. Both walk-off homers by leftys. Here's where the Gibson at bat is so amazing (not to take anything away from Freeman!): Gibson was really badly injured - left hamstring, plus ligament damage in his right knee. Freeman's ankle is almost back to 100%. Gibson facing the best reliever in the game, who hadn't given up a homer in almost 2 months. Freeman facing a pitcher pitching for the 1st time in over a month. Gibson went down 0 - 2 on the first 2 pitches, then fouled off the next 3! With every swing, Gibson was limping more. On the tenth pitch of the at bat, Gibson homers on an outside pitch - amazing!

11:34 Behold Ohtani's pivotal clutch double that was merely the linchpin for Freddie's grand slam, absolutely demolishing the Yankees’ spirit and majestically turning the World Series tide towards the Dodgers. Yet, totally minor detail like a dislocated shoulder in game 2, rendering him unable to hit and still heroically playing through the pain, has crowned him a "postseason choker" in the eyes of those casuals who think baseball revolves solely around home runs. Clearly, in their simplistic world, the noble act of sustaining injuries is the ultimate hallmark of failure.

What a dramatic cinema. The greatest game I have ever seen.
This tops game 7 of the Indians and cubs game
As someone too young to witness Gibson's classic moment. I'm so glad to see it happen again live.
