- The movie has been delayed, but the Matchbox Top Gun 5-packs have still made their way to market. We don’t know what role they play in the movie, but we do know that these are some pretty cool cars, including a brand new Aston Martin. Let’s open these up and check them out.

2019 Ford Mustang, 2010 Ford Raptor, 2008 Challenger and the new '56 Aston Martin DBR1 are my favorites from these two "Top Gun Maverick" 5-packs. As for the "Swing Wing", it's just probably there for the "Top Gun" theme. Thanks for the preview, hopefully we'll see these in stores soon.

What??? Hot Wheels, Matchvix, Greenlight, Johnny Lightning, ETC...all make movie cars. In fact it's pretty saturated.
I have the Challenger SRT8 in metallic Fuschia Pink/Purple. It's a great colour and a popular colour used by Matchbox back in the 1970s on a Maserati Bora and the Ford Capri among others.....

Agreed... not that excited about the rest. Cooper looks exactly the same as mainline; Jets are nostalgic, but definitely play-oriented; and the others are nice, but not must-haves for me.
Well, the 5-packs hit my area this week, and I ended up getting the Aston set lol~ However, was not expecting the individual Maverick Sky Busters; REALLY nice, well-detailed toys for $3. MBX has done very well with the Top Gun license, much like the Jurassic Park/World series'
Challenger srt8 "destroyer gray" looks fantastic with complete details and that 2019 Mustang GT is amazing. Raptor aswell finally good details on it.
Without question the Maverick MBX 5Pack that gets the chocolates would have to be the pack with the Dodge Challenger, As ever car is good even the simple fuel truck works.....So that’ll be the one I’d wanna pick up.....Another great review the go to channel for all your HW’s and MBX....😏🙌
I like the challenger and the raptor, but that mini cooper and specially that mustang caught my eyes. It's amazing how good matchbox castings can be!!!
The Aston Martin, the Mustang and the Raptor are worth the price of both 5 packs. I collect mainly Mustangs, and other Ford vehicles...so these two 5 packs will end up in my collection.
Also, it's nice to see Matchbox coming out with some really nice, new castings. I also read about them coming out with a Bugatti...that going be a difficult car to find!
My local wal-mart got 2-3 cases of JUST Top Gun 5-packs. They will be easy to find.

I got both sets from Walmart 2 weeks ago. Walmart in Southern Ontario Canada. I also noticed that your sets, John, came from the Mississauga Ontario Mattel Corp. as did mine. Mississauga is an hour away from me. The first set you opened is Mix 1 the numbers at the top on the hook on the back indicate this it is lower than the second set.
Looks like I'm gonna buy the set just for the F-14

The swing wing plane was a Matchbox mainline from the early 80s during the Superfast era. It wasn't part of the Sky Busters line, although I think they'll have some Sky Busters product tied to the film. Based on the photos from the NY Toy Show, it looks we may get a Topgun playset and planes. These are great 5 packs with a good mix of off road trucks, sports cars and of course that new Aston Martin.

Ironside was good at playing the villain.. (had to google to remind myself of his film history..).. and Starship Troopers.👽🤘🏾.. as for School principals also in Armed and Dangerous with John Candy..

I believe the first issue of the Raptor had front and back detail. There was a blue and burnt orange version. I’ll have to dig it out. New version looks great. Some great models in this one. The jet I was in the mainline in the 80s

Fun Fact about the Swing Wing - The swing hasn't been released since 1999 in the Top Gun Star Car Collection and first debuted in 1981, only three versions have been released
I will buy one of the Top Gun five packs as 3 out if 5 good cars in green Jaguar 🐆 5 pack. Other 5 pack only ok only one car impresses me the gun metal colored Mustang 🐎.

Okay as much as I love this, the only vehicles to do with top gun is the F14s and fuel tanker. I would thrown a hornet, Porsche 356, 86 ninja and ninja H2. I’m hoping these are all actually all gonna be in maverick tho, I love all the vehicles... even the mini
I found these at a Walmart near me. I think the jets are still pretty good despite being inaccurate (still gets the point across that they are jets). The Mustang is the best car if you ask me in these packs.

Yeah, the hitch on the Bronco is a friggin' beaver's tail. I'm doing a mild custom of the Skyjacker Bronco that came with my Convoy (I got it for the semi anyway), and I just tossed that baseplate into my customizing fodder...BLECH! It lets down the model, considering how nice the body casting is.

had a surprise today watching the movie and realizing actually none of this vehicles are in the movie
Actually besides the planes, three of them are actually in the move, but not that they are a big feature in them at all, just in the background really. The first one is the Bronco driven by Rooster, then the Aston Martin Martin and the Jeep are actually in the garage when Maverick is working on his plane. The more prominent car should really be the Porsche driven by Penny, and maybe the bikes. I'm really puzzled where and how the cars in these packs are represented in the movie
The Mini Countryman came out in 2019. Both of them have vehicles I want to add to my Matchbox collection

Amazing packs. Dodge is the best. Mustang amazing too. Hopefully they are released in large numbers eventually. I wonder if they will be with the diecast of off somewhere else like the Jurassic park ones...

This was the second delay for FnF9 movie...
Since we can't go to a movie theater to watch these blockbusters. They should do a pay-per-view type thing so we can all sit at home and have something to do. And enjoy all these great movies.
10 months later and these are still in stores. Obviously over produced these massively...

Those “Swing Wings” are the WORST representations of an F-14 Tomcat I have ever seen! On top of that, those planes were retired in 2006, definitely will not be in use in Top Gun Maverick. All planes shown in the trailers were modern F-18 Super Hornets. 🤔
Jordan Cunanan Trailers show an F-14 in flight. Not sure how big of a role they will have, but they will be in there in some capacity.

Current matchbox is not this same as in '80.... now matchbox are cheap plasic china made let's say "mistakes". Old matchboxes are metal, has open doors, almoust full interior, springs, and scale 1:84... My matchboxes are 30 years old. In this mustang from set Maverick, even glass is like milk....

Very old matchbox casting of a Tomcat, One of the worst I’ve seen, no offense to matchbox but let’s face it, there was really no effort to be technically accurate here.
