      You should try Kuying Teton TTS-642UL if you like minimalistic handle design that allow you to touch the blank. The other ultralight kuying Teton rod also good too.

      @ Mishahagi all of these Kuying rods.. the handles... too much for me. But you found a good model. If i wanted more aliexpress rods i would try that one for sure. But i think i am done with ali express rods.. At the end of the day I believe the cheap ones are no good, and the good ones are not cheap.

    Started out with aliexpress ul rods to see if I want to get into jdm ul gear. You and troutmagnetman have been the most knowledgeable on jdm UL gear and I am going to make my first jdm ul rod purchase soon, a Graphite leader corto ajing rod. As for aliexpress, I have used the tsurinoya mystery s602ul for 2 seasons. 2 full crappie spawns and spring trout seasons. Over 200crappie 10-14inches and 100+ stocked trout 10-15inches in length. Lifted all the crappie into my boat with no rod breakage. Also 1 season on a 1.8m baitcast Seekbass L solid tip (the one with green rod guide wraps). Tsurinoya runs $50-55 shipped and the seekbass is a bargain at $32-40 depending on length and comes with 2 tips. Both are sensitive and ex fast or fast action atleast to me since I have no experience with jdm ul gear.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  4 роки тому +1

      right. But you could have done the same with any other $60 rod sold in the USA. That's the point. $60 buys a lot of rods even in the USA. Most crappie rods in bass pro and cabelas are even cheaper than that. $20 Shakespeare Micro would have landed all these fish and feels exactly the same in the hand.

    "Sealing" cork (I guess with lacquer or oil) is a bad idea - the natural cork can "breathe" and if you start sealing, there will eventually be a "leak" in the seal and once moisture gets behind that it will stay there (because of your seal) and start to rot, eventually stinking and then eating away at the cork.
    Always pull off the plastic foil some cork handles come shipped with (also diy cork handle sets have that plastic sealing - LEAVE IT ON while building your rod, it's there to prevent epoxy from sealing the cork which then would lead to rot.. so remove it right before your first fishing trip! ) - and then let the cork breathe. If it gets dirty/stinky just dismantle your fishing setup, take the rod to the shower and give the handle it a good scrub under luke warm water with dish washing liquid and a nail brush. Hot water may damage the laminating / glue / lacquers so take care with that, as well. :)
    Tight lines!

    I got some cheapo hybrid ceramic bearing (~7$) for the GH100. It enhances its performance a bit.
    That being said I still use it for the heavier bfs applications and use the lighter stuff on my JDM bfs reel.

I was looking at some plastics that look like my daiwa worms, and they cost almost the same. I would rather get from japan, and not have to smell that stinking rubber

    May worth look at a Ai-shouyu 3 piece ultra light rod, may the color is not the nicest but to me is good looking rod and very fun to fish with, I have the 2.25 m version (7.4 ft) and the blank says Pahntom (that might be the name of the rod) I think is meant for trout but I use it for salt water. Such a fun rod. You can find it in aliexpress. Big hello from Mexico.

      @@ifishcatfish Yes. The handle is what attracted me to the rod in the first place. Then after doing a little bit of research I found a few people who had some great things to say about the rod. I've been using it for about 2-3 weeks now. I've gotta say it's a good rod. I don't have much to compare it to, but it's better than the typical $20-50 rods that I normally use.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  3 роки тому

      rods are not rated for fish... i can catch a 5kg snakehead on ultralight. They are rated for casting lures. Also, the average snakehead is pretty small. 5 kg would be a record in most places.. It would suck to pick a heavy rod and cast with it all day just to catch a 1 pound snakehead. I would probably fish for snakehead with my Fendwick HMX Medium Light, and enjoy the fight if i find a good one..

Also bought a Kingdom brand rod called solo II 7'm for around $65 these were the best two in my opinion the other rods I bought were cheaper ace hawk,johncoo,mavalos etc. Not as good as the fore mentioned.kingfisher spinning reel from tsurinoya is a good quality reel also cheap around $70 but come in the 800 and 1500s (shallow spool) size which is nice. @@ifishcatfish I have two presso's a 2pc. 6'6" and 4pc.7' the kuying I like better in my opinion than both of them similar Toray graphite. If I go above $100 or above I use Asian portal and have had good luck with major craft Australia has some better Abu and Shimano options as well. In US I ordered a BnM TCB rod and a trout magnet rod based off crappie man's review and they are very good bang for your buck rods. I've caught redfish, large tilapia,Bass and even juvenile tarpon not intentionally and the kuying handled them no problem on 1/8 oz. Rattle traps on a 1000 size ultegra reel. In Michigan where I live now mostly only crappie,Trout, and perch as my small game target. Have a place in Fla. where I grew up and have some lakes I fish with salt and freshwater species everything from Snook,Tarpon,Tilapia,Bass,usual panfish even grass carp it's crazy...but you need many setups for a 4 acre pond connected to a tiny 2' wide brakish water stream crazy.

      @@ifishcatfish Teton is lighter than presso and sensilite blank and more sensitive as well.The handle on presso and teton better than sensilite for my taste also the sensilite is more of a light to medium light in my opinion. At less than $60 kuying Teton in the model I bought is a good deal anymore than $75 not so much. The 7' 4pc presso is closer to the 6'6" kuying in action but I feel the kuying is more sensitive. The major craft first cast (budget model) 7'3" small game around $75 from Asia portal is better quality rod for panfish than all the above. Has a solid tip though which makes me a little nervous. I'm using the sensilite alot with a 1000 Nasci all in all about $100 combo cause I got the reel on sale after last year ice fishing season 1/2 off great smallmouth/crappie rig so far.
