Absolutely. Moving bees to proper boxes is really nice to watch. Even with the disturbance, they are getting a lovely new place to live in!
Thanks for your video’s. On doing your cutouts I use a bread knife. I have a 12” and a 14” they work great . How many hives do you have ?? . I would have used a bee vac first to get the number way down as I cut out the comb so I do not kill any bees most of all the queen. That way I have great luck finding the queen an I know for sure she is in there an not damaged. You keep me in tears watching your great video’s, keep your video’s coming. Thanks

This guy is absolutely great. One of my favorite bee keepers. This is not meant to be be insulting and to me a compliment but Bush Bee Man is like the Benny Hill of Bee Keeping. I would fall out of my bloody chair if the lead in music was the theme song to the Benny Hill Show. Keep up the great work.
I would have vacuumed the bees first and during the removal, but I must say they girls were very gentle with you. It looks like they need a second box already. Two thumbs up.

It seems like that's a lot of bees and that they Don all fit in the one box. Is there a reason you wouldn't use a box and a super to hold them all? (I'm just starting to study about bee keeping)

The honey on the outside for insulation sounds like it might be right. Native sugar pot bees have the brood spiral in the center with all the pots of honey and pollen around the outsides of it.

What would eventually happen with the bees/hive if you just left in the box? Related question: If I set-up some sort of box, would a bee colony come and inhabit it?

What happened to your bee vac? It would have been much easier to reduce the number of bees first before and during the cutout.
i was thinking to myself it would be much easier with a vacuum. certainly has improved my hive collection and cut outs.

What is the purpose of those sweat boxes?
You store your dried fruit in them. The boxes allow the dried fruit to sweat or "breath" preventing mold from forming on the fruit.
If you use frames without wires the comb will be more centered in the frame after they repair it. Then you won't need to put it above an excluder.

There is something you mentioned about remembering which side was up and which down when putting the comb into new frames. I am curious now: you want to remember because of the position of the honey, or would a new orientation affect the brood's development in any way?

We have an awesome carving knife and will send you a photo on your website. It will make your life so much easier for cut-outs... a 1000 times better than your hive tool... and at night you can cut your Sunday roast 😄
