  • BeesPutty is an outstanding polymer clay created by veteran sculptor Stefan Niehues-Ellermann. BeesPutty comes in a variety of hardnesses and today I'm reviewing the stiffest version. BeesPutty QuadrupleFirm:

I do agree with all you are saying about BeesPutty. I am very happy with the tripple firm, because I sculpt a bit bigger figures(about 15 cm height) and for that use it has "little enough" core movement IMO. I find that the softer varienties(double firm/firm) have a litttle bit more flexibility, and are great for making capes and other parts that uses sheets of clay. Great video about a great material. 👍

The more I see about BeesPutty the more it seems ideal for miniature sculpting. The increased price compared to other polymer clays and the need to order it from Europe is a bit unfortunate though. The low cost of other clays and ability to just run out to a crafting store to grab some is nice.
That said I'm really a beginner sculptor and have only really used epoxies but have desired to try polymer for a while. I have quite a bit of other polymer clays I've collected over the years either buying myself or gifts from family members who knew I messed with sculpting a bit. So I've got a collection of Fimo, Super sculpey (firm and regular), Sargent Art, and a mystery bundle from china. Not sure if I should just experiment with what I have or order some BeesPutty and jump in with that. I really do have a lot of polymer clay on hand so it feels kind of wasteful not to use it.

I'd experiment with what you have. If you don't like sculpting with polymer clay then you probably won't like beesputty either.
While it is a bit harder to get as it comes from Europe, there's a silver lining about the cost. We're sculpting miniatures. One block let's you sculpt several. When you think of it that way, the cost of materials is pretty inconsequential.

That's really neat about the skin you can just add the alcohol! Are you doing another tutorial with the mini we see here?

Yes I am. I’ll show more of the sculpt in an upcoming review of the sculpting tools BeesPutty makes.

Quadruple Firm is also my go to polymer clay, my last sculpt was a 1:6th portrait of Cara Delevigne and I really loved the results I got with the 4XF

The tool I'm using is in this video is actually an official BeesPutty sculpting tool. He makes a wide variety of tools and the two sides are interchangeable so you can create the idea tool for your workflow.
