Thank you William! And thanks for the correction.
Yup a W block.
Occasionally I'll come across a build from my youth and feel like it deserved a better fate. I can clean it, rebuild, or harvest parts for rehab. Waste not, want not.
Well said Don. One of the reasons I love rebuilds is it brings me back to my youth.
I remember using alllllot of glue!
@@modelrestorations Could you do a video(s) on the tear down of a built kit for resto prep. Looking for different options/procedures for getting them apart with minimal damage in order to restore them. Have a few glue bombs from many years ago. Would like to see the water/freezer method done correctly.
Sure, that's a great idea!

Thank you Big E!
I've got about 15 more coming and always looking fir more. Even though my new model stash is fairly large they often get put aside for the rebuilders.
I just like em better.
Just got you subbed buddy, really cool restorations, Tom
Thanks Tom. Youve got some killer builds over on your channel.
@@modelrestorations Thank you, much appreciated
Hello! I am new to your channel, I am 63 years old and before I was driving and/or working on cars, I was building lots of car models back in the late 1960s to the mid 1970s. It is a grate inexpensive hobby. Please reply. Dave...
Hi Dave. Thanks for Subscribing! Do you have any models left from when you were younger?
@@modelrestorations Unfortunately I do not. Most of them ended up in a big cardboard box and got broken up over the years due to poor storage and rough transport. I noticed that the Testors modeling cement (that I used) would break down and unadhered when stored in a enclosed container with lack of air, is this correct? I had no idea that model restoration was possible until just recently. Please reply. Dave...
Yes that old glue we all used dosnt hold all that well 30 years later lol. Allot of people use super glue now or a mixture of glues. Then use mod podge or Elmer's clear glue for windows. Super glue will discolor and etch clear plastic.
@@modelrestorations Thank you! I honestly thought that the modeling cement chemically welded the two plastic(s) together?
@@daveridgeway2639 It sure does but depending on how much was used it can break down and get weak over a long time. If its the glue bombs that I used to build as a kid I'm sure they are still together!
very nice rebuilds, i always loved the 55 myself and that gto kit is one of them all time great kits too, and even though i am not a ford guy, huge respect for the BCA honoring build, love the pink and white, looks perfect for it, cool stuff.
Thank you RPM! Appreciate the comment!
@@modelrestorations most certainly
I like what you're doing with these old kits. Since you're repainting, etc. it would be interesting to see a pic of what you started with. Also, is it considered a restoration if you take a kit that was started (and butchered) and re-do it as your own design or is that called something else? I have a couple of those I'm working on.
Hi Will. Thank you for the kind words. Definitely a restoration if you rebuild a butchered one (probably one I built as a kid!) :-)
Here are a few I did that show what they were before I started.
