    Thank you Jimmy. Your video and explanation are most helpful. I have been playing social badminton for years but can never make a backhand clear effectively. After following your video for a short time, I can now do backhand clears that are quite awesome! Continue with the good work!

    if a guy wants to hit a fast backhand drive at a low hit-positioon(for exemple 1.55m or as high as the white band of the net), does he need to use the same grip as you showed in this video?

  • @werdinator
    @werdinator 13 років тому

    hey i have a question! :) do you use the bevel grip for backhand drives? drive on the side i mean. and how bout a backhand clear when its really low. like the ball is on the other side of the court. you run towards it and you have no other option but to clear it. how would you grip the racket then? my shots always end up floppy
    and lastly. do you focus most of your finger power on the thumb? because people tell me to use the thumb, but i use the index finger to help guide my shots.

  • @GENIUS4896
    @GENIUS4896 11 років тому +2

    weird i watched another tutorials not to stretch your elbow when doing backhand and now you are here stretching your elbow during a backhand. With one is the right way?

  • @gridts
    @gridts 13 років тому

    Some dudes tell me to have a firm foot hold before hitting the shot as it provides an anchor for you to generate power by swinging. So, the steps are to lunge slightly before hitting the shuttle. Contact first then impact rather than contact upon impact..
    What do you think?

    Is the pan handle grip only used when you are on the tramlines/sides of the court or when the shuttle goes over your shoulder to keep the shuttle inside of the court or is it used for every backhand shot in general? I can't change my grip from barrel to pan handle quick enough in a fast rally

    • @zyosgaming
      @zyosgaming 9 років тому +1

      pan handle is when it goes behind you, if its singles you will have time, if its doubles it will need to be high over your shoulder so you have time, If you have time then you should not be using a backhand often in doubles anyways and should be around the head smash or drop (drop if your unstable to the middle)...if its more flat then its your shots before the backhand that have put you into a disadvantage which you will want to fix...Be it positioning, shot selection or quality of shot.

    @thejym can we use a panhandle grip when the shuttle is infront of us?

    • @ari-athbadminton0301
      @ari-athbadminton0301 4 роки тому

      Yes but it's less powerful (in that position the thumb is not generating proper power because is misaligned from racket movement), on the other hand it will give a steeper angle for the smash.

    Hey, I'm really confused. Some guy who has a really good backhand smash told me to use tha backhand grip. But I feel that the bevel grip is easier and stronger... But this guy's smash is really powerful. Which do I use?

    • @ari-athbadminton0301
      @ari-athbadminton0301 4 роки тому

      Both are fine if you hit the shuttle in front of you but you will limit the zones to target when using the backhand grip.

    so for a backhand drop less power is used compared to backhand clear?

    • @craigroberts5965
      @craigroberts5965 9 років тому

      With a backhand clear you tend to stop the racket head at the impact point, almost whipping it, and you do not follow through. The drop tends to be played with follow through.

    • @zaynashraff1908
      @zaynashraff1908 5 років тому

      Craig Roberts follow through is prefered for better accuracy.

  • @Walkman0007
    @Walkman0007 12 років тому

    nice man
    but.... the hard thing is to get dept on your shot
    and you need the pronation with the arm to get that
    and basically, when that failed, I started using my power, which is no good....

  • @driveslowly

    i pratice a lot at home. then when to the court, but it just doesn't work. I know it's the right technique friend who play competition when we were told me it's the right technique, but what can I do to make it work. I can't even hit the shuttlecock.
    So desperate.

    • @shshashiekhar
      @shshashiekhar 9 років тому

      happens with me too. Just remember what have you practised at home and try that. It will wok slowly.

    • @ryansai
      @ryansai 9 років тому +5

      you guys are most likely having this problem because:
      1. you are not relaxing your arm before you hit it (you are too tensed)
      2. Your timing is off
      3. To improve timing, play slow shots first thinking about guiding the shuttle and gradually build up the speed
      4. You are not hitting it at the right spot (maybe you have the wrong grip)
      Hope that helps

    Pan handle is for when the shuttle is behind you only without it you will hit your backhands off the court....He is right as coached by Coach lee, Zhao, Xiao and ex international steve butler. Im guessing you must be an ex world champion I'v not heard of ;)
