- The long awaited Skoolie tour. During the pandemic we quickly saw that we might have to move into our Skoolie full-time, and sure enough, we did. We have been living in our bus full-time for almost two years now and we are loving it. The push to get it done unfortunately meant that filming and editing had to be put off. So we are deeply sorry for leaving you hanging on the progress for so long. We hope you enjoy the finished product.
We have set out on a new adventure building an off grid homestead in North Idaho. You can follow our journey on our new channel A Thousand Generations Homestead.
The attic stairs to the roof is genius! Beautiful skoolie.
Thank you!
I like the fact that they put the entry door in the center! This is a beautiful conversion!
Thank you
Wow, very very nice. The roof hatch is fantastic. One of the nicest conversions I've seen.
Thank you, the roof hatch and attic ladder is one of our favorite features
For real your bus is amazing! I love the layout of it. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Your Build Is Absolutely Gorgeous 😍 ❤

Really nice job. Love the bus and the design.
That is a fantastic bus conversion.
Thank you!
This is beautivul. Already watching your other channel. Thanks for sharing
Absolutely beautiful
Thank you
Completely Awesome! Yours is the first bus I've seen with an attic ladder and it's something I designed for my bus because I didn't like the other options. Seeing how you did it just verifies my choice once I actually start the build. You Rock!. My build design also moves the front door to further along the side. Somewhat like what Gordo From Earth has but with the kind of steps you use. The rest of my layout is very different since I also have to contend with a wheelchair for my wife, but your bathroom design is very much like I'll be building but will be using Centrex composting toilet which have a separate holding tank equipped with an evaporator/dehydrator that will live under our rig. They are expensive but they handle everything so there is a lot less crap to mess with, so to speak. Thank's again for posting this.

Wow! I really like your bus. The placement, color, woodwork. How long is your bus btw?
Thank you! She is 40 feet long
I so love your design and ideas. Hope you don’t mind if I copy most of it.

best bus build I have seen so far, awesome it must have cost a fortune to build along with sweat and blood.
Thank you, we are very proud of it. All in, including the bus we are $45,000 into the build. Follow our bus life on our new channel A Thousand Generations Homestead.
@@redwhiteandbluebird9206how many hours?
11:30 seems like the perfect place to put it... What could go wrong. Other than that great bus. Well done.
Thank you. The Battery area has worked out Flawlessly and we can remove the batteries if we ever need to change them. Follow our bus life and new adventure on our new channel A Thousand Generations Homestead.
Very impressive, I was hoping you were going to start building full time.) Can you tell us the bus length and weight? How’s the 5.9 handling it, hills and mpg’s?
Thank you. The bus is 40 feet long and weighs 31,000 pounds, which is 6000 pounds less than the max GVW. The 5.9 is doing great, we get around 7 MPG which is about what we got pulling our trailer with our suburban.

We have thought it would be fun to build Skoolies or maybe just tackle the systems that people are intimidated by.
WOW!!! Very well done!! Love your bus!!
@@redwhiteandbluebird9206 Thanks for the reply!) I have a 36’ diesel pusher w/5.9 and when I pull a tow vehicle I get 10+mpg. Your 5.9 can do better, very easy to modify for better performance, I recommend Gale Banks. Nice to hear you might be available for consultation, I might be contacting you.)
That attic ladder is a brilliant idea.
Is it just you and your wife~ no children ?
Thank you, it is the perfect size for Amy and I.
Rust roof access I have seen.
Thank you. we were so excited to build something we hadn't seen before. Follow along on our new channel "A Thousand Generations Homestead"
amazing build! usually I don't care for interior roof deck ladders/stairs, and I was very impressed with your entry point. i did have a couple questions about your build. Do you have locks on your engine cover? I don't hear a lot of people who do bus conversion talk about parking, Have you encountered any difficulties finding parking in urban or city areas? I'm sure bed size played a role in your discission on the bathroom placement, but did you ever consider having the bathroom behind the bedroom in the far back?
Thank you so much, We haven't had any need to lock our engine compartment. Parking and even driving takes a lot of planning. we do stay out of the city whenever we can but Harvest host has been great for planning trips. this was never going to be the rig to take on small logging roads in the mountians. Because the engine is in the back it would have made putting the bathroom in the back very difficult. we also didn't want the kids to have to come through the master to get to the bathroom. Follow our bus life and new adventure on our new channel A Thousand Generations Homestead.
Where did you find the attic ladder & was it tricky to install? Those things always look sort of heavy to me which makes me wonder if it has required any extra reinforcement in the ceiling?
Thank you, we found the attic ladder at Home Depot. it wasn't too hard to install, however designing and building a weatherproof roof hatch was the most challenging part. Bus roofs are so overbuild to begin with that no extra support was needed, just blocking in the hole we cut. Follow our bus life on our new channel A thousand generations homestead
@@redwhiteandbluebird9206 Thanks much!
Can you not monitor everything via bluetooth from your phones?
We can monitor from our phone but if we need to check something it is faster just to open the cupboard door. Thank you, Follow our bus life and new adventure on our new channel A Thousand Generations Homestead.
Black tank was a no no for me.
We went back and fourth on it in the end Amy was more grossed out by the composting toilet. now we think it would have been much better and simpler. Follow our bus life and new adventure on our new channel A Thousand Generations Homestead.
