Toshiro Mifune (1920-1997) would debut as an actor in 1947, thus beginning the legend of the most recognized and successful Japanese actor of all time.
Ten essential films: Drunken Angel (1948), Stray Dog (1949), Rashomon (1950), Seven Samurai (1954), The Samurai Trilogy (1954-1956), Throne of Blood (1957), The Hidden Fortress (1958), Yojimbo (1961), Hight and Low (1963), Hell in the Pacific (1968).
Later he would meet the one who would be his mentor and friend, the director Akira Kurosawa, with whom an oneiric relationship would prosper from 1948 to 1965. Although the artistic relationship would end due to professional differences between the two (Mifune would claim the constant stress and perfection to which he was subjected by Kurosawa), it is well known that director and actor continued to maintain a close relationship as friends, even in the following international stage of Mifune, where he embarked on American productions and founded his own production company, responsible for disseminating and publicizing Japanese cinema to the world.
